I believe you should have enough room to get a piece of cord down through next to the valve cover, but I haven't tried it in vehicle on a ranger. Give it a try and let us know if it does.
Brother, can I ask you how to replace the dipstick in my 94 Ford ranger V6 4.0. it is bent somewhere towards the lower end of the tube. I imagine this will work with the engine in, is it a press fit?
@justthejuan8160 I'm thinking a socket if it will slide down the outside of the tube and stop on expanded base of the tube and then tap it in till it seats. Or a piece of tube cut in half. Hold it together with pliers and tap it in. I have a duramax to do and this video is all I've found. Good luck.
It has a few names, para cord or 330 cord most commonly. It's just a thin strong rope, but you could use any small diameter durable rope that doesn't stretch too far.
@@wyomingmobilerepair yea I definitely used your method and it worked. However my oil pan was already out of the vehicle so I used a square piece of MDF and some blocks of wood on top of that to pry on. Got the tube out most of the way and then hit up on the pry bay which was tied to the tube and that popped it out all the way. Thank you very much for the video it helped me so much.
I'm glad we could help. The oil pan off helps for sure if it needs to come off. Most of the engines we get in now have a pan installed, so we don't need to remove the pan from the bad engine anymore. That was what gave us the push to come up with that.
