Begin the journey with these two!
Part 1: • Dir en Grey - ALL SONG...
Part 2: • Dir en Grey - ALL SONG...
Hello and welcome to the new addition to all songs reviewed. This will be the longest of all the Dir en Grey videos because today we tackle Dir en Grey and their three most important releases. Vulgur, Withering to Death, and the Marrow of a Bone. These are probably the most important albums of Dir en Grey as they were breaking out of Japan and establishing themselves worldwide. We'll grade the songs with letters, A being Great and F being not so great. Dir en Grey is still in charge of themselves, but will they confide to the generalizations of their genres? How did the boys do? Find out on this installment of all songs reviewed.

Binging your Diru content apparently! These are some of my favorite albums, so i will do my best not to take it personally if you don't like a song i adore 😂

We all have different opinions lol There's really not a bad song from dir en grey. I think when I rated this, it was based off of what they are capable of.

I hope thay you can review the songs of sukekiyo someday. It's really fascinating the duality of kyo's voices and melodies between Dir En Grey and sukekiyo. Have a nice day!!! :)

You too man! I might get to them. Don't know if it'll be an "All songs Reviewed" but it will be something for sure.

Marrow of the Bone was a really transitional album for them and what slowly got me into heavier music. I can't wait for you to review the rest. I'm curious what you think about DSS album!

it’s kind of funny cause lot’s of people say dir en grey got them into heavier side of music but for me i used to only like heavy music and dir en grey got me me into the softer side of music. they have so many different sounds which is one of the reasons why they are my favorite band

Mostly agree in many aspects but I suggest that it would be interesting to review the new versions of old songs that appear in the singles, because sometimes they improve their own old song ;)

The singles will be in the final part, there was another song they redid on Six Ugly that I reviewed in Part 2.

God damn I love _Vulgar_ and _Withering to Death,_ even all these years later they're still among my favorite albums of all time and easily my favorite Dir en Grey era. Really dig "Asunaki Koufuku, Koenaki Asu", hard agree that it's really underrated/underappreciated, it's so out there and even though I typically can't stand rockabilly, I think the influence works perfectly with the jazzy-er interpretation, and then the back of the song with the gang vocal grunts/growls are sick as fuck. But my two absolute favorite tracks are undeniably "The Final" and "Kodou", the crescendos in both and Kyo's scream in "Kodou" will never not hit me like an 18-wheeler. Of the two albums, "R to the Core" is literally the only track that's a miss for me, otherwise they're all bullseyes for different reasons, just so many incredible songs with so much emotion made tangible, each having a genuinely interesting moment or theme/feel. 🖤 Also, you're not alone in remembering/misremembering composer credits, I vaguely remember a lot of them too but I'm unsure if it was just bad info or if they were true and later changed.

From what I've seen (I've been a fan for 11 years and very obsessive about DeG a few years ago and spent much more time reading and researching about them than it's healthy) I've never seen any credits for Vulgar anywhere. The japanese wikipedia articles sometimes have info on individual song credits (as they stopped disclosing writers on their liner notes after Six Ugly) but I simply don't recall ever seeing anything about Vulgar ever. Vulgar is probably my second favorite by them (after Uroboros) but it's not an album a lot people seem to like. Just top notch "pop" album (and I really don't mean this in a bad way), but the production is pretty bad to my taste. I like a lot of Withering but it just feels like a less inspired Vulgar to me and again the production doesn't help much either, Marrow is a hard album to listen too. You can definitely hear that this is where the western influences were starting to really become the backbone of their music, albeit through a very unique reading of those influences. The ballads on the album are some of the best things they have ever done but the heavy songs are pretty rough. I always liked their more intrincate heavy songs than those "boneheaded" tracks which are more about aggression and groove. This is also where Kyo really grew into his voice. He wasn't ever a bad singer (even though he often employed that weird nasal and offpitch style in their more experimental early stuff that works within the context of the songs) but this is where his cleans started reaching really intense heights and his screams (even though they are arguably very unsafe technically) really started exploring things I didn't even know were possible.

Withering To Death Era was my exposure (limewire anyone?) and The Marrow of a Bone was my first ever album (and yes i too got the VERY DARK PRINTED ONE) I thought it was an artistic choice until we got more access to better internet where i lived.
