@@FireMarioFan fr dawg this is actually like insanely creative and at the same time faithful to mario 64, something i strived for when initially creating sink, being faithful to sonic 1 but inventive. i love how melancholy and chill the song sounds too, totally captures the dire dire docks vibe while sounding depressing and terrifying at the same time
Just got a random idea, what if , before the whole Mario is missing thing, Mario lost all of his friends in accidents like this, causing him to create his “forest of illusions” as a coping method. He’s just angry at boyfriend for intruding his safe space, and uses his forest to contort himself and his friends into things to scare boyfriend off. But anyways, just my brain running, amazing song!
Actually, the theory you made has some BIG flaws. The Mario in Illusion, TA and MIM's name is PS135. It's a glitch inside of Mario's body, and he's not the real Mario.
always imagining mid-cutscenes in the middle of all these songs, love them all dire attempt 2401 - when mario appears luigi starts reaching out more, when the song gets faster luigi gets pulled back into what seems like an endless pool and mario swims after him time attack - when cutting back from the 16-bit section it turns into a first person view of bf, then goes back to normal once the long notes are over, when luigi arrives it's first person again, ps135 shows up and sets it back to normal raising luigi by the arm _(which is why it's been cut off in mario is missing)_ mario is missing - oogtar and yoshi get up in bf's face _(when singing the smw bonus end theme)_ and then seperate to the left and right of bf, bf sings in the middle punk - hotmetals mouth moves with the circle tool
Mario’s last verse right after luigi fades away really hits. Even if it’s just beeps and boops it feels like mario’s desparately calling out luigi’s name trying to reach him, before realizing it’s too late, as he watches the empty waters, in tears. Might be too deep, but what i genuinely feel from this
After listening to this a few times, I think I actually perfer this over Sink. This has such an amazing use of SM64 water level motifs. I also like the lore more. In Sink, Sonic is basically stuck in this situation and is unable to do anything about it but suffer or accept his fate. In Dire Attempt 2401, Luigi has a chance to be saved by Mario. Luigi tries to reach Mario, but his dire attempt is useless in the end as he drowns into the depths, claimed as a victim to Bowser. You and Hyporious absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. I'm exited for Mirror Mode and what else you decide to do Edit: I'm gonna add something: Although Mario desperately wants to save his brother, I get the feeling that he's afraid of getting pulled in too. Maybe if Mario was a little less afraid he could've saved Luigi, or maybe Luigi was doomed either way. It felt worth mentioning that
Maybe Mario didn't know whether or not it was truly his brother, and not simply the boos wanting to pull him in. I feel like Luigi's scream and the song picking up might be when Mario finally realizes that *is* him, and that he's conscious and suffering. So it swaps to his POV as he's reaching further in, or already maybe even trying to swim towards him.
Knew this would have that sm64 feel once I saw "Dire" in the title. Poor Luigi though. That low health noise is such a neat touch along with the yell at 2:20! I'm usually scared of water levels but dire dire docks is honestly such a soothing level, neat to see a depressing spin on it.
honestly, i love water levels in general, they are the best part of mario games, and especially those with a beach theme, but dire dire docks is a level... quite peculiar, it doesn't give me that relaxing feeling that the other levels of water give me, and I could say that it scares me
God, it's so depressing the way Luigi screams for Mario in anguish, pain, suffering, and most of all fear. And at the end, how Mario sings into the abyss of the ocean, grieving as you can FEEL him holding in the tears, trying to stay strong for his brother while still in disbelief and shock.
For a second there, I thought the spirits grabbing Luigi were the Underhands found in the River Twygz in Super Paper Mario. The song was well done along with the art! Especially with the classic Bowser laugh at the end. A true dark homage to classic Mario legend...
this took Yet Another Sonic In Wacky Bad Circumstances and turned it into a dark homage to one of the longest conspiracy theories in gaming history. Honestly, super based
Holy fuck this genuinely hit me in the feels hard- The desperation tone throughout the song really made me feel for Mario losing Luigi like that. I would say something else, but I don't wanna get too ahead of myself.
this is just wonderful, but can we talk about the fact that fire has made like 4 FREAKING MARIO MIX SONGS BEFORE RELEASING MIRROR MODE?!?! thats insane!
Holy shit this mix was amazing. One of the most banging yet depressing songs I've heard in a while. Poor Luigi being stuck in the fountain with what seems to be... boos dragging him down? Can't imagine how terrible Mario must be seeing Luigi being dragged into the depths at the end after all of that effort trying to save him. But the bowser thing caught me off guard. Did he do this to luigi? If so, then that's probably one of the most fucked up things he's done. Regardless, nice job Fire!
@@bl0cky64 good theory but however, Fire said in another comment that Luigi isn't dead. And reading his info on twitter says he's trapped by a curse from Bowser
I feel like the boos are holding him back not because they want to torture him, but because he is incomplete, and would likely die in his current state. After all, his data was fairly incomplete in the final game, only being mostly restored by modders, with some creative liberties.
Fun fact, in the new super Mario bros games, Mario and Luigi (and toad) can hold their breath indefinitely. This probably means that besides the eyes injuries Luigi would not be in any pain.
yeah prob Fan made lore: Dire is an spirit that is trapped in the lack of the mushroom kingdom that just needs help i hope it gets an official lore of this bc my fan made lore suck
MARIO APPEARING TO HELP WAS THE BEST THING EVER, JESUS AWESOME JOB ON THIS! Edit: It feels like the perfect birthday gift because I just turned 15 today!
Funfact: This takes place in the castle backyard, you can see such detail of the backyard behind Mario, which is also where the L is real theory came from (the fountain text)
Y’know, this story, oddly enough, has a player-built happy ending, since a devout fan waited for the perfect moment to piece Luigi back together, the power stars may not have been able to free him, but a code digger and a determined fan base sure can! …..maybe you could make a song about how Luigi would actually escape?
something i really like about this song is that you can hear the blinking sfx from m64 when ur close to drowning, basically playing nearly the whole time, lingering. Luigis demise on a clock.
@@goldenanimations1018 wdym "sorry"? are you implying that other people aren't allowed to attempt making a modpack with these? wow. so much for the creative freedom that this community is known for.
The fact that We Heard Mario at the last part make feel like he's ready to sacrifice himself to save Luigi, if there IS one thing you can't remove off my mind, IS that Mario IS a good brother
i absolutely love how this uses the m64 underwater theme motif, just like how the original sink used the labyrinth zone one. it blends really well with the rest of the song too :)
what I imagine: mario after not having been able to save luigi enters into a hatred towards bowser that he cannot control making him go completely crazy, and from there "Mario goes berserk" is born
I alway interpreted this song as Luigi getting the axe from sm64 rather than anything in universe: The ghostly hands are cursors dragging Luigi deep into the source code so he’ll never be seen again. He isn’t deleted which is why you can still hear him slightly at the end. His eyes are gone as the texture was deleted and his buckles are rusting as they’re next. Mario reaches for him sure, but knows there’s nothing he can do. The programmers have made up their mind.
Jesus....hearing Luigi cry out "MAAARIOOOOOOO!" is just heartbreaking.... Given the dinging of the low health indicator, I like to imagine Mario is just throwing coins at Luigi (going by the game logic) to keep him alive
This is probably my favorite Mario Mix track. The mixing of Luigi's ghostly vocals, and the strings of Dire Dire Dock's soundfont is incredible. The use of the soundfont also makes this track feel...dire. Its a little less urgent than the Sonic version, this version feels more hopeless
this is genuinely depressing. Luigi screaming out and how even without audio by just LOOKING at Mario he’s trying his best to rescue Luigi and trying to stay strong for him. it just hurts seeing the bros in such a state and Luigi probably dying and Mario just grieving after. If there was a cutscene after the song it would probably be Luigi getting fully dragged and gone from sight. Right after Mario just falling to the ground in tears, screaming Luigi’s name. Genuinely depressing overall.
Of all the mario mix things you have made so far, this is my favorite. For some reason the freeplay tracks seem to go so much harder than the main story mode lol
You know what would have been cooler? If instead of Mario knowing where Luigi is, everybody is on top of Luigi, partying, having a good time, like they are oblivious to the fact they Luigi is right underneath them.
My friend had shown me this a week ago, and I absolutely fucking love it. I’ve always loved this Creepypasta, and this is probably the best iteration of it inside of fnf.
Whenever I hear this song, I think of the river under peach's castle, but expanded to be extremely deep, with Luigi drowning inside and his hand reaching up. Mario can barely see Luigi, so all he saw was the hand. He thought it was one of Bowser's tricks to pull him in, so he starts singing at it (basically mocking it), but when Luigi screams "MARIO!!", He sees him clearer and realizes what that really is. It's Luigi, drowning and trying to hold onto dear life. He steps back in disbelief and then immediately dives in, swimming towards Luigi as fast as he can. 3:20 At the end, Mario dies and respawns at the castle. Luigi is nowhere to be found. He starts crying on the floor, and screams "LUIIIIGIIIII!!" At 3:36, and the screen is covered by a Bowser logo, with an ominous laugh. The end.
