Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RU-vid, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RU-vid. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RU-vid, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

You're digging into my favorite Dire Straits album, Commuique. The whole album is nothing but riff dealing amazingness. Check out "Portobello Belle", "Single Handed Sailor", "Lady Writer", "Where You Think You're Going" and "News". Mark Knopfler does our music better than we Americans ever believed possible. There's a group of recordings from Rockpalast you might consider. Flawless!

Angel of mercy the end lick on that guitar is just something out of a different universe, I'm convinced somebody somewhere has got it very very wrong about knopflers guitar style of play when they do the top guitarists and he's never in the top 20 never mind the top 10, he's 5 at the actual utmost least, they can stick their opinions up their arses

Mark said, "I wish I had learnt the Guitar properly. All I am is a Geordie Strummer" Do you realise Mark is actually left handed?

This is the opening track from the Alchemy concert, I whish I had been there, Mark was totally inspired here, incredible playing, I am glad you mentioned the killer Bass too, John Illsley never gets enough credit, but he is a great player. If you like more instruments, listen to Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield.

Yea man, this was fire. That rhythm section in the first part of the song with the bass driving the song and the drums just staying in the pocket was really nice. Then Mark just doing his magic, superb!

You are so right, the keys played such an important part of progressive rock .. so instrumental in providing the mood and atmosphere of the song. Very much missing in music these days. This song is one of the great often overlooked gems from Dire Straits. Glad you experienced it. You need to give "Skateaway" a listen.

Wonderful reaction... seeing the joy and admiration on your face takes me back to the mid 1980s when I heard this album for the first time. MK truly was and still is a master of the guitar and of storytelling through music, and I still listen to this album, and all the others regularly... and will do so 'til I'm gone. I saw the very first comment below, which states that you should not listen to 'Les Boys', which is the last track on the Straits' third album, 'Making Movies'. For the longest time it was not my favorite either, probably because of some of the BS social prejudices that were programmed into us back when that album was first released. I have since come to love that song for the same reason I have come to love all of MK's songs: musically, it's a superb piece, and he tells a story (which happens to be a true story) very well, and with humor. Listen to it or don't. I would never tell someone 'don't listen to this or that song'. But if you do listen to it, and are curious as to the backstory for the song, do a search here on RU-vid for the following: 'Mark Knopfler is telling a funny story / Les Boys perfomance (very rare!)' Anyhoo, again, wonderful reaction. It always heartens me to see someone come to appreciate MK and crew...

Hello brother, I thought I drop off another suggestion in case you're interested. "Dire Straits - So Far Away Live at Wembley 1985)" Mark Knopfler is most certainly one of the best guitarists of the 70's and 80's. (IMO) and he's just so fun to watch.
@intothesunset3
@intothesunset3 Год назад
I agree but I would say from the 70's to the present! He's made lots of great music since the 80's...with Dire Straits (they were back together from 1990-1995) and solo. I saw him in concert in 2015 and thought he sounded better than ever.

It feels like the guitar adds a lot of irony to the narrative. What do you all think? Listen carefully to it. Mark is like a ventroloquist and his guitar is his other voice.

Once is not custom, I prefer the studio version, which is much more reggae-country in a subtle mix, and whose intro is better mastered.
@tynzolav
@tynzolav 11 месяцев назад
Your post makes no sense(google translate's fault I guess) The studio version is perfection, but as live goes, this is as perfect as you're ever gonna get! (as far as mastering, this is quoted from the Alchemy blu-ray; "this is a recording of execerpts of one Dire Straits performance, it contain no re-recording or overdubs of any kind")
@LetsChillPage
@LetsChillPage 11 месяцев назад
@@tynzolav Hello, Oops, please excuse my bad English, I'm French. I didn't use Google. Maybe, it's "mastered" which doesn't make sense? I meant the way the song starts and not the quality of the recording or the way it was technically recorded. I don't know how you say "mastering an instrument" (knowing how to use it), or still, "sublimate an intro." In French, we say "maîtriser." 😊

You should check out the Rockpop concert version from Dec 1980 on RU-vid. Much closer to the album version, and of course Pick was in the band at that time.I do like both styles, for different reasons. Watching a really tight band at the top of their game is awesome.

Yeah, I don't get the hate for Les Boys. It's another example of Mark's superb story telling combined with a musical style that reflects that story and where it's taking place. I can only assume it's the subject matter than some don't like.
