This is not a simply concert, this is pure art, pure simphony, pure feeling on stage. Dire Straits at their best! Mark guitars sound is simply unique, every single note make a million of emotions. Great reaction guys, onece again! Love you so much!

As a 64 year old Londoner, I have seen Dire Straits 6 times in London, once in Dublin, Ireland, and once in Rotterdam, Holland. The band were just outstanding on stage! Mark Knopfler is a perfectionist, both in Guitar styles and lyric writing. This was a great review-reaction piece of this song. I was at this 'Alchemy Tour' concert at the Hammersmith Odeon, London, in 1993 and three days later flew to Dublin to see them at The Point theatre. It was a great experience to see the band preform live. Something I will never forget. This DS Song is based around the 1968 Western film 'Once Upon a Time in the West' directed by Sergio Leon, and the music score was by Ennio Morricone. This is where the imitation 'Flute' sound occurs at the beginning and towards the end of this DS song to emulate Morricone's main film music score. I wish I could post the ticket receipts to prove it to you both. The venue stewards would not allow us to stand during the performances, but I'm somewhere in the audience!! I hope you can get to see Mark Knopfler in concert sometime, he's just amazing to see him play live. Many Thanks for the memories!!🥰🥰

Telegraph road from this same concert is the ultimate dire straits song. A 10/10 totally recommended, is like all the styles of dire straits condensed into one beautoful story and melody

Part of the storytelling is his guitar which has an equal voice. His lyrics and voice are amazing and tell an extraordinary story of the not old but present American West. His guitar gives detail, emotion and depth that no singer could ever bring.

My favorite song of all time bar none. Especially this version When I first bought this album I literally had to take a break after each song to let it soak in. Best album ever in my opinion.

And just in case you don't know, DS (more specifically, Mark) wrote the soundtrack for a fabulous movie called "Local Hero" which plays (mostly) in Scotland and has Burt Lancaster in it. Worth watching and listening. Quite extraordinary.

I love it when people who have never listened to certain music explore it. And are surprised by how good it is! I am 56. Grew up on this in the 80s. So nice that there is a younger audience that enjoys it too! :) keep up the good work :) Love the smiles. When you hear good music, you know it. Firstly, I’d just like to say that MK is not just an inimitable guitarist!! ! He’s also a beautiful singer/songwriter/wordsmith/lyricist, composer, & producer. .To say MK is ‘underrated’ is just your opinion, but I’m assuming you’re referring to the lack of input from the greedy little world of pop music, Rolling Stone and other out of touch so-called music aficionados, whose accolades I’m not sure MK is interested in. (e.g. He did not to show up with his previous band mates at the DS induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018). However, I feel ‘underrated’ kind of undermines MK’s actual decades long accomplishments. He has a long list of awards and honors with and apart from DS (but as someone who loves success, but decries fame, he is both humble and self deprecating so doesn’t really draw attention to these). He has been praised in endless formats by a great many of his professional peers, including his accomplished band mates/musicians. He made 6 albums with DS (during which time he also wrote movie scores, and played with The Notting Hillbillies). He also played and produced with and for other music legends including Bob Dylan. Not to mention the 3 x Grammy awards with his hero & friend the late, great Chet Atkins, & his collaborative Albums with Emmy Lou Harris, 9 Movie Soundtracks & 9 MK Solo Albums. I think the real proof in the pudding of his NOT being underrated is the continuing love for him and his music demonstrated by millions of worldwide fans still following and listening to DS and in turn MK Solo music (that encompasses the whole gamut of age groups). Once upon a time in the West, 1968, had Claudia Cardinale in a role. Like many other female Italian film stars, Claudia Cardinale's entry into the business was by way of a beauty pageant. She was 17 years old and studying at the Centro Sperimentale in Rome when she entered a beauty contest, which resulted in her getting a succession of small film roles. Once Upon a Time in the West (Italian: C'era una volta il West, "Once upon a time (there was) the West") is a 1968 epic spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone, who co-wrote it with Sergio Donati based on a story by Dario Argento, Bernardo Bertolucci and Leone. It stars Henry Fonda, cast against type as the villain, Charles Bronson as his nemesis, Jason Robards as a bandit and Claudia Cardinale as a newly widowed homesteader. The widescreen cinematography was by Tonino Delli Colli and the acclaimed film score was by Ennio Morricone. Wikipedia plus.

Mark Knopfler plucks his guitar strings with his fingers, he doesn't use a guitar pick like most rock guitarists. Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac does the same technique. So I think Mark's guitar playing can flow more, and he can play very gently when he needs to.

Its so different from the original in 79 when dire straits had no keyboards till 1980 when it was just guitar and drums i actually like this live version better i also play it on the hammond organ in my spare time so satisfying 😊

Ses séries de guitare dans les chansons : sultans of swing, once upon a time in the west, father and son/hill farmers Blues, telegraph road et autres sont considérés par les meilleurs chanteurs du monde comme des merveilles de la musique contemporaine. Mes enfants sont nés dans les premières années de 2000 et ils adorent les morceaux de Dire Straits et de Mark Knopfler

Amo a Knopfler y compañía,es fácil hacerlo, hay un pequeño dato poco conocido, él es zurdo,como Hendrix,por poner un ejemplo, pero toca la guitarra de diestros,es decir,su mano principal está en el mástil en vez del cuerpo, desconozco si hay algún otro guitarrista que toque con la mano cambiada,por así decirlo,es un pequeño dato...da igual, crea una atmósfera maravillosa en su música

Rolling stone, so wrong. Knophler is in a league that would include very few. Gilmour, eric johnson, atkins, jerry reed, earl klugh, benson and maybe a few others, but it would be a short list of the best ever, each with their own unmistakable signature style and sound. Period.
