No argument from me 😅😅. Just a stunning track from start to the very end. Great story writing with the usual 1st class musicianship we expect from DS. Particularly love the interplay between piano and guitar.
@@noway6288 Come on man, "Brothers in Arms" was way more commercial but with songs like "Industrial Disease" and "It Never Rains", Love Over Gold has to take the cake for one of their best albums.
@@mistshad0w725 Damn Bro..ther! Ure right! Totally forgot bout "Love over Gold" I sincerley apologize! (Not really! cuz the Straits were, are and will be one of the best Bands ever! And they wouldnt care bout ur discussion what album is the best!!)
@@noway6288 They were the best artists until Mark Knopfler started his solo career. Now they’re just barely in second place. MK’s solo albums are something that absolutely nobody can beat!
I find it hard to express my love of this song, even calling it a ‘song’ seems to belittle it. It’s an absolute masterpiece. I think a pinnacle piece for the band. Ive read about how it was pieced together at soundchecks. It’s a movie to me that paints pictures in my head. Every note has its place in its atmosphere. LOG remains my favourite album after all these years. It was my awakening to Mark and the band. ❤ 👏 👏
Agreed. Rhythm and tempo makes it a great "car travelling" song,I might add. How else are towns built? The lyrics speak for itself. Thank you Mr. Knopfler for entertaining us throughout the memorable years.🤗💥😁⚔️💝
Of the 3 epics, Tunnel of Love, Sultans of Swing and this, Telegraph Road, this is the only studio version that compares with the live versions. This is pure poetry.
The original? Studio version? Nah. Not even close. The original TOL is, well, a first draft so to speak. The live versions when the master goes off are infinitely better. And the Live in 85 Wembley version is king of all. No question. But to original point, this TR studio version is excellent. Powerful. Has gravitas.
IMO, the studio version of Telegraph Road is on another level. I've seen played live many times both by DS and MK in his solo concerts but, even though it was still a masterpiece, it wasn't on par with this studio version.
I’ve had the fortune of seeing many great guitarists perform live, but hearing and watching Mark Knopfler play this piece live was something unique and unrepeatable.
@@Ottestad1898 I had the opportunity to see him live some years ago in Rome, at the (now called) "Auditorium Ennio Morricone". It was a wonderful night!
My dad recently passed away at 59, this song, sorry no, masterpiece was my personal favourite thing to listen to with him. without him I would have never have had such an amazing taste in music. Thank you, Dad. RIP😢
My dad died when I was 18, I'm almost 21 now, so let me tell you that it does not get easier. You just learn to live around it. This was his favorite song, and I hope to god that we can both learn to live again.❤
The ending part always reminds me of a group B rally car racing trough a forest and backfiring in the distance, the piano solo representing the pistons pumping at barely immaginabile speeds
As a freshman in high school, the stresses of my studies and growing up (puberty sucks, man) is often a lot to deal with, but songs like this as well as Dire Straits as a whole have made it easier to cope. Some songs let me de-wind and get lost in the story told by the lyrics while others punch me strait (heh) in the gut with Mark Knopler's fingerstyle guitar. The songs sound so "full", if you know what I mean, and alive. It's great. Love from Korea 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
One of your masterpieces! I've heard it so many times, and it still gives me goose bumps every time! Even 10 minutes later! Thank you! Servus from the heart of Bavaria
No pane, to je komentář, který má úroveň. Díky. Skladba je exkluzivní, skvělá, nadčasová, líbivá, má prvky opery (kdy se jednotlivé věty střídají, opakují, mísí, atd.. ) Díky Vám za hezký komentář . Není jednoduché takto "sepsat" skladbu... Muselo to trvat hrozně dlouho (oproti např. "Smoke on the Walther" 😂. Ano, je to big big! Dnes už nemá nikdo na to, aby podobnou skladbu vůbec vymyslel ❤❤❤
The name of our company's softball team was, "The Sultans of Swing". It was my introduction to Dire Straits. I quit the team after only a few games. Half those guys showed up one beer away from vomiting. It was fun for a little while.
According to interviews this epic song led to Mark getting the job of making the soundtrack of Local Hero. One of the movie classics of all time in my opinion, with an amazing soundtrack!
Probably the greatest song ever.....you'd be surprised who knows this brilliant song....since I was about 12 I'm preaching about telegraph Road...Greetings from Dublin
One of my worse regret was when the concert I was supposed to go to see dire straits in France has been cancelled. Mark Knofler just broke his leg two days before!
Ne. Je to únikům. Díky za Váš komentář ❤.
