It is not illegal to pay someone to cover up a story!!! Biden's people did when the Hunter laptop story was coming out right before the election. It is also reported that knowing the laptop was real would have changed the Democrat vote and Trump would be in office now. It was illegal however for 51 government officials to sign a statement saying the laptop was fake...while knowingly stating that it was in fact real as the FBI had it in their possession. Most of the time, powerful people pay off someone claiming to report a story (real or made up) about the person running for office or a celebrity rather than have the story printed. Very common and again, not illegal. Billionaires are setting ducks for people wanting to get $$ from them.
