This video, written and directed by Professor Michele Pistone, Villanova University, is part of a series of videos about how to provide legal representation to an asylum seeker/refugee client. Here, the client is going to appear in a removal hearing before a US immigration court. The lawyers are working through the case to prepare themselves and their client for the hearing on the merits of her claim.

On the 4th minute the interpreter's translation of the French word 'Surveillant' as Councillor is 100% correct.It does not mean Vice Principal as the lady questor suggests. Its equivalence in British English Education is 'A Guidance Councillor or a Discipline Master'.A Vice Principal is just a second in command to the Vice Principal which is different. I am Steve. the interpreter made one mistake n the judge immediately offered to reset. even it is just an example it is frightening as a real interpreter lol

Hi .. If an Asylum applicant case rejected and send back to native country , then Can the apllicant applly for Student visa or any other visa for the same Country , and hope for not any Rejctions

Mock cross examination. It is a video for people to know what takes place. You are all caught up as if they are actually conducting a hearing. Asylum hearings are confidential....no videos. Duh!
