Is there a reason as to why there are rubber bands holding the things in place like that?

My thought is that it's to hold the apron rod up for the first few threads. Otherwise it just hangs there and it's really hard to do anything.

And one more thing...I'm a bit confused by the under over pattern for stringing this up...I feel like it naturally wants to keep going over and its throwing me off badly, will it make a difference in the project if it isn't under over??

I had trouble with this too. It does have to go under and over alternately, otherwise the yarn won't be strung around the apron rod. I don't know why it works like that, but it just does. After a few times, you may be able to see it better. It took me about half of my first warp to understand it.

Also curious about the paper...is it necessary?? Cuz then why didn't the kit come with any? Whatever you have in this video looks special...can you list what kind of paper should be used

Butcher paper worked for us. I’ve also seen Scrapbook paper suggested

I used scrapbook paper. I have the 10" so I had to cut it because scrapbook paper is 12" square. It's used to keep tension correct. If you think about the strings and how they might lay on top of each other as everything gets rolled up, some might get layered and some might not. So the paper keeps everything even on one layer. You probably figured these questions out already but I thought I'd answer anyway!

I've used plain printer paper. It just keeps the thread from sticking together and snarling.

This would have been really good but the music was really distracting
