Brilliant! Plus I love the idea of having the warp spread out, almost like having a raddle!

I always warp myself. I am working on a 52 inche wide warp. It is 20 yards long. I have been professionally weaving since 1975. I have woven a couple thousand scarves, endless numbers of shawls and throws and rugs. I dye most of the fibers I use. I would say I have put more than the hours of weaving that makes me one of the most experienced weavers in the US, I am 72. Like I said my warp I am putting on is 15 epi and 52 inches. The more you weave the more you know and you can solve any problem and solve any problem and I still find ways of doing things different. Be free to make mistakes. I don't roll paper into the warp. Have fun, relax weave. It's a beautiful thing. 😊

@wvblue4658 Год назад
I do something similar using a stainless steel shower rod to hold my warp. I won't go into the differences in how I wind but when I get the warp wound on, I place a strip of painters tape across the top threads on the bar before I cut the loops at the end. Then I flip the taped ends over the back of the heddle while I pull the lower threads to the bottom of the slots and slip knot them out of the way. Then I remove the top threads from the tape one at a time and thread them through the holes - much faster and the threads are never twisted when I weave to the end of the warp.

You fill the weaver's life with hope, variety and creativity. Thank you. Oh! I also wanted to say that not only you and the school have been mentioned in many other youtube channels as an excellent resource for weaving, but also many of us really appreciate the charisma you show when helping us in the weaving world ❤

Do you have a flat surface like a kitchen bench you could clamp the loom to? Some space challenged weavers will use a small fold out table.
@The_loopy_knitter
@The_loopy_knitter 4 месяца назад
@@KellyCasanova haha, nope, my living space is super small, my table is only 20x27” and the largest open area is only 21x36”. But I ended up drilling a piece of wood to the foot of my anchored bed, so I can clamp the peg unto it and still be able to open the fridge. I can set on the bed and hold the loom to keep the tension while turning the knob. I don’t think any of my projects so far need to be longer than the bed. 🤣🤣🤣 During the summer I can build a table outside to set up my warping threads. In the winter I will need to be inventive. Thank you though.

The type of loon you are talking about is more of a hobbyist loom. Classes, if you can teach yourself, you will discover new things yourself. The weavings will reflect you personally and choices. Find an old weaving book, let your creativity and interest fly, relax, have fun. Over the years it will develop. Your weaving will be your own. There are very few rules you need to know about weaving, then weave with abandonment. I do get it that some weavers do it for many reasons. I believe many people don't stick with it. The results of weaving, the things created can be breathtaking. I can still be impressed with the things I make. I have and continue to be a weaver. I plan to weave as long as I am able. Keep challenging yourself. If you buy yarn from the yarn companies, all their yarn looks the same, an is the same. Of you follow others patterns and use the same yarn, it all looks alike. Try using different weights and fiber content for warps. Mix thin and thicker yarns, wools, cotton, rayon,silks, different textures in the same warp. Don't rely on old, standard patterns to add interest. Most repeated patterns, can be boring. We can all follow the set rules. Make your on path as you become a more experienced weaver. Mistakes are good we learn from our mistakes. Your weaving will reflect it. We are capable of more than we think. Take your weaving from looking like a paint by numbere oil painting, to a really truly individualistic piece of weaving. It will have it's own soul and that soul is you.
