I've never seen a reaction to Shadow like this before but honestly? I feel it. Shadow is an epic writing song for me, I feel anger and resentment and conflict rush inside me though it isn't my own, it's a great song for writing conflict to. UGH and Tear are other great contenders. I love the way BTS and their music inspire me to write.

Suga is a genius. Period. His raw way to talk about his "dark" side is sooo special.He says that the more is the light, bigger is the shadow, that's why he asks us for "don't let me shine". His mixtape D-2 is something that blows one's mind.

Yoongi doesn’t open up his life/feelings/struggles much but when he does it is in his lyrics! I have watched this many times and it still hurts me to know he struggled like that and I still cry a little.

"Shadow" is *the* Shadow side of your soul, the part you don't want to show or don't want to admit. For most of the song Suga is himself describing the Shadow, but at the end, the Shadow speaks for itself and demands, as Jung's integration of the Soul requires, to become accepted as part of Suga's wholeness.

I understand what you mean about seeing nothing but raised cell phones from Yoongi's perspective. I was lucky enough to attend a concert in Vegas and I made a conscious decision to not do that. I filmed a couple of things (like when they were circling the stadium on carts and passed by my section) but for the most part I wanted to be present and in the moment face to face. I knew there would be tons of footage from other people online later. I really feel that contributed to my overall enjoyment of the concert. I am sure no one but other artists could ever understand what the feeling is like that they experience onstage. They strive for the top but then find loneliness there. Yoongi is the king of baring his soul. The line "please don't let me shine" brings me to tears every time I hear it. I feel like in the last scene...with all the cameras flashing in his face and then he disappears, it symbolizes that they obliterated him. Such a heartfelt song. Thank you for your reaction.

Other than the obvious that the song was written so perfectly. I don’t know who came up with the video concept or in Yoongi had a hand in it. Hats off to the person that came up with the video storyline. Even if you didn’t read the lyrics the video tells it all. This is one of my top 5 fav songs and a must to hear. The struggle in live whether you are famous or not, to have a few different personas and you loose your true self but yet all of them are a part of you.💜

My interpretation: As the song itself is titled shadow it is clear that it shows the conflict between yoongi (supposedly shadoo) and suga (his persona) it is a clash of what he wants to do as a normal person and what he cannot do as a celebrity idol. His wishes as yoongi came true (being rich, rap start, rockstar) however as the light grows(fame) his shadow also grows twice the size (the things that he doesn't show, keep to himself as he has to set an example for those who follow him) in this song his shadow is fighting him, he also wants to be recognised as suga always suppress yoongi in order to maintain his cool idol image on the top of his real personality, feelings, needs and desires. However in the end his shadow speaks to him saying that no matter how long or how hard he tries to hide him he will always be there, they will "clash" but that's okay, and if he wants to be peaceful he needs to admit the existence of his shadow and accept it💜 Woah, been so long since we went deep diving, it is soooo interesting and I honestly like Roscoe's idea of not being present in the concert but just a piece of phone flashlight instead of enjoying the show. Yes, you nailed it. Yoongi have this type of songs where we feel uncomfortable while listening, like we shouldn't be listening to them because they are so raw, so personal, too honest. He dissects himself and let us see all of him, brain, mind, soul, emotions with his lyrics. It's amazing. So brave. Edit: You are not being dramatic. Yoongi injects his emotions into us with his songs. Because even if we don't relate, he make us feel it in our own bodies. That's how amazing he is. And he has more songs like this, emotional shots... but we need to breathe and have a long breaks between listening to those songs, because his lyrics and voice and sentiments will linger for a long time. Hi Roscoe, I don't know if anyone told you about the artwork the MV is inspired by at the beginning scene where Yoongi is standing in front of the door. The red thing around the door is actually wax, and the piece is from the British Indian sculptor called Anish Kapoor. The art is titled “Svayambh”, a Sanskrit word that could mean “auto-generated” or “self-made.” It was created by moving a huge block of red wax passing through a door leaving part of itself on a wall around the door. Kapoor stated that “It’s as if (the wax is) skinning itself as it goes through the doors....(and) takes the form of the doors." How Yoongi saw himself in this art, being molded into the persona he's become and unavoidably shedding a part of himself in the journey, is simply beautiful and heartbreaking.
