For those curious, Since watching this MV we’ve listened to the full version of the song. That second verse really opens things up and the way he goes deeper into his inner thoughts was 🤌🏻🤌🏻. SUGA is on another level with this song. It’s of course been on repeat this week on our CCW playlist, as well as a couple others 😉
Remember that this album is based in the book map of the soul , so they took the archetypes of Carl jun ( persona , shadow , ego, etc ) to do this songs , those were their inspiration for the songs and the album , the book said if you accept each of all the archetypes in you , you will reach the SELF aka the individualization , aka you actually love yourself , so in this album BTS show us how those archetypes look on them and how they accept it. So in this song suga is telling that his shadow is him being a afraid to be so high that will make him being alone , and disppair which is not what he hope it going to be if he reach the fame , so he is accepting his shadow at the end that it doesn’t matter how many times he try to supress it , it will came back cuz it’s part of him ( everyone has a shadow by the way). In RM songs he is accepting his persona , and in jhope he is accepting his ego. Boy with luv is the groups accepting their persona , black swan they are accepting their shadow and in ON they accept it all of it and reach the SELF.
Shadow es un temazo, por su producción musical y porque Yoongui una vez más se desnuda por dentro, y muestra la persona tan interesante que es! Se me hizo corta la reacción, verla dos veces que nos encanta!
It's funny. Yoongi is the most introverted, but at the same time, he also the most open about himself and his struggles. While the others might talk louder, he's the one that says the most.
Persona(RM) - Shadow(Suga) -Ego(Jhope) tells personal story of the Rapline , depicting their journey and obstacles they have to overcome as they rose to fame. These songs showcases the lyricism and artistry of the trio. BTS rapline is 💥 , as what we can see on their solo albums now
a few things: 1. the song in its entirety has a second verse and a second pre-chorus. the transition is not as abrupt as it is in the video, even though it is there to amp up the drama/dark shadow 2. the live performance in his d-day concert is amazing. the symbolism. the production. especially when you see the choreo/camera phones and the audience and their cameras capturing his every move. 3. yoongis solo videos just hit different. he is a natural story teller. attention oriented. flare for drama and acting. raw and passionate. love that he can assume any role.
PLEASE check out the full version.. there’s a whole kickass verse that is not in this video😢 Also u guys Must watch the explanation video for this song. It will take ur experience of the song to a whole different level!!! ❤
YES THIS! This song is so much deeper, so please reaction to the full version and explanation. There’s a video by DKDKTV (explained by a Korean) that’s really good so please check it out 💜
I forgot which video, but I remember Suga saying that he spent so much time writing Interlude: Shadow that RM had to do the most work writing the lyrics in the album...so when you listen to Interlude: Shadow, you will find that it is one of SUGA's most vulnerable works ever because he is living the words of this track. I love this song so much I can't stop gushing about it. 😊
The song actually has another verse + pre-chorus and Chorus before the music changes into the shadow part . I wish it was the full song in the MV. Verse 2: SUGA] Try smiling, what are you hesitating for? Wasn't this the kind of thing you were hoping for? Or cry instead, what are you scared of? Wasn't this the kind of thing you'd been wanting? The life you hoped for, the life you wanted The life you chose, you achieved everything without regrets And on top of that, you have a big house, big cars, big rings All the things you wanted, you've got it all So what's the problem? Just enjoy it Or just let it go, no? Then run, or stop Don't whine, just choose one or the other
This man is my bias for a reason! I love Yoongi's songs. Very deep, but the lyrics is easy to interpret. He loves putting the symbolism in the visuals. Thank you for a great reaction, again!💜
This song and mv is a masterpiece, yoongi is truly a musical genius! The flow, the lyricism, the voice distortion and switch up used as a tool for storytelling, the visuals, just the overall production… it’s been years since this came out yet i still get goosebumps! Gabriel saying “there’s no closure” that’s the point. If we understand the context we can easily tell it was intentional for the song to end on that note. I’m sure y’all have listened to the longer version already but yea he gets even deeper into it. I’ve always admired how open and vulnerable yoongi can be in his music bc it’s really not easy to do that. I feel like that’s why a lot of people feel drawn to him and relate to him a lot.
This song is so meaningful and so good!! If you see on the streaming platforms is longer because the intro is longer and there's another verse, hope you check it out sometime!!! Also, i think this is the shortest video you guys ever did lol only 13 minutes
Yoongi as i've always say this whenever i commented Suga's video , he is really an Extraordinary artist! He is depth! His songs are always meaningful. All of Yoongi's MV is so effortly top notch --- Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala, Shadow. Visual 100% Cinematic 100% Performance 100% Lyrics 100% Produced his own, BTS , and other artists music rap, sing , dance, play piano, guitar ,directing his own mv ,, act, good looking , What a versatile Yoongi! Miss him so much!!
I like the full version of this song which is much better than the mv version🫶🏻 Map of the soul concepts is from Jung philosopy, Jung believed that the human psyche, or the body, mind and soul, was made up of three parts: persona, shadow, and ego. This idea inspires our namjoon which starts questioning about “who am i?” The intro of the ablum- persona. and it starts to begin the linkage of the solo songs from the 3 rappers, and the whole concept among the series of map of the soul albums.
Interlude: Shadow continues their exploration of Jungian psychology in relation to BTS. YOONGI is expressing his conflict with his own shadow, a metaphor for all of his doubts, fears and insecurities with being at the top. At the top the spotlight is at its brightest - making your shadow even longer - of all the rxns to this song maybe only one person commented on when he was moving backwards in retreat from the bright lights - in the end he reconciles w his shadow as a part of himself and moves forward as a whole person. From this to finally walking through the door of his Amygdala at his las DDAY concert before enlisting - Yoongi’s path to his peace has always been in full display for his beloved ARMY💜
The cameras and phones at the end remind me of when some of the top K pop star arriving or departing at the airport. How bad it gets can be scary for anyone.
having to pause cuz omg. Yoongi is SUCH a pisces. as a fellow pisces i'm really feeling it. the symbol of pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions; one upstream and one downstream. its about being a person full of contrasts and opposing desires. is this song not just absolutely THAT?
It’s interesting, Suga became my husband’s bias even before finding out their birthdays are one day apart. “Contrasts” is definitely a good descriptor. 😂
ohmygosh my favorite song from the album and from Suga 🥲this song means a lot to me Edit: This was the song that made me love Yoongi even more. When I first heard this song and saw the MV, I literally cried a lot. Not knowing why til I realize I felt seen as a creative (although I'm not like Suga or BTS). You wanna reach your dreams but as soon as you gain attraction, the more your "inner demons" start to eat you up. Eventually, you feel like the light you wanna reach so badly becomes your enemy. But sooner or later, you need to accept your shadows, make it your friend, in order to push on forward in life. Such a deep song. 7:46 the MV is a shorter version of the song. This doesn't include the second verse.
I feel you 😢 Not even as an artist myself but I’ve always been kinda a high achiever and the way Yoongi described that feeling of reaching these dreams or goals then suddenly being confronted with your deepest fears of failure so much so you can’t even enjoy the feeling of “being on top” or having achieved this level of success is like a shot of arrow to my heart 💔
I heard this somg for the first time with no visuals and no lyrics and i wasnt sure how to feel about it at first. But the more it progressed the more i FELT and i was anxious and unsure why. So he did his job. The more i delved into it with the video and the lyrics and explanation and knowing more about the album in full (especially persona/shadow/ego) i truly LOVE this song now. It always makes me feel really deeply unsettled in the best way.
Summer's spot on with Yoongi's songs being thought-provoking!! Y'all have great analyses on both the lyrics and video. Thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Interlude: Shadow with CCW! 💜✨
Weirdly... I always get emotional watching this video 😂 I really don't know why. 🤔 For me at the time of release, it was a pivotal step in his artistry. I was so proud of Suga and it always bring me back to that place and time whenever I watch this video. I do know that I love the breaking glass for sure. I also put my fingers up and say "Pause" every time!! 😂 Just Genius!! Suga never looked back and today he stands on top of the world and has probably exceeded all of his musical goals and expectations. I can't wait see what he envisions in 2025, as far as career direction outside of uniting with the group. Loved your reactions, au usual. 💜💜💜💜
i remember my very first time reacting to this song: the last section of the song when the switch up happens to indicate his shadow's voice was so jarring that I was shocked to the point i had no idea how i felt about it then immediately upon my second listen & still to this very day, it remains one my favorite switch ups in a song, hands down. not only is it an absolute BANGER, but the textures + emotions created by the change in backing track AND yoongi's vocal delivery alone paint sucha clear picture, even without the (stunning) visuals of the video. it can't just be me feeling this way right??
One of my favorite songs by Suga. The lyrics are just perfect. The fact that yall said yall know there's an explanation video but you only got a shortened version kinda sucks. Hopefully yall watched it on your own. I would rather get like one video a week knowing yall actually had time to like read and understand the lyrics. Especially like this song. Please don't feel like yall have to put out so much and like fly through everything. Take your time and really appreciate their art. I know that rap isn't really yalls favorite genre..... And yes i know they'll get to listen to the whole song when they get to Map of the Soul 7
I love this song so much, it give me the chills and the tears everytime. I remember from the book, it say this is the time when his anxiety at it worst.
2:37 *_hAJimA_* 😆 I love the part when the shadow takes over, it's so powerful. I also extremely enjoy SUGA's songs like this one that are just so emotional, you can hear his struggle in his voice. Video is crazy good, I got shivers when I watched it a first few times. But the heavy guitar part is my fav, still gives me goosebumps. Also, Summer, that lipstick suits you so much! ☺
I love Shadow so much!! I hope you guys can react to the full version. Also Once you guys see JHope’s Ego, you could check out Bookish Theories explain videos for the Rapline trilogy of these songs, Intro: Persona, Interlude:Shadow and Outro: Ego!💜
I really hope that you'll react someday to his whole D-day Album in one Video. It's incredible we'll written by him (as always) You just can't miss that out
You should have watch d lyric video first as this is not yhe complete song🥲 their patreon admins tell them so many unnecessary things and not things like this. Like only for one two episodes they make them halt TROB and do Burn The Stage which is giving them even more spoilers like- begin, cypher, am i wrong, mama, 21st century girl, 1 2 3!, etc. This is just my opinion.
The music videos that have the title but have trailer at the end are not full songs, even though this is a music video. It’s missing the second verse, same goes for “Serendipity”, the music video only have the first verse and chorus. The live versions and lyric videos have the full version, also their albums of course.
Even if they didn’t pay attention to people’s comments telling them about that way in advance of getting to this song, I expected the admins/editor to know that the MV wasn’t the full song and advise and provide it to them accordingly.
Just put on the Instrumental of this song and close your eyes, you will be transported to a different world, this is one of my all time fav production from them, i get goosebumps everytime i hear it
It is wax around the doors. According to some philosophy of shedding your skin as you grow. (like going through a door.)I do not know why it is wax. I think Bookish theories is a good explanation vid. She is good on Spring Day also 💜
The Doors are apparently an homage to Anish Kapoor's (the creator of Chicago's "The Bean" and generally an unpleasant dude) piece in which he pressed wax through a series of doors; which, in Yoongi's terminology, may reference his agreement that Creation is an excretory process.
