I'm so intrigued by this idea. Filming 3 films at once is a wild idea. You've got to have a lot of faith in all 3 movies to do that. I'll definitely watch the first one at some point.

Another excellent interview! I'm SO excited for these movies, more so knowing how intricate the shooting schedule was, and how much care went into crafting them as three distinct emotional experiences. Renny was such a damn cool guest, just so passionate and articulate. Stoked to see what he and the cast & crew bring to us ❤

Honestly this felt very inspiring to me, I was worried it was going to be a set of episodes of "the strangers' adventures" in three different places where in the end we find out it was THREE whole groups of strangers the whole time! Dum dum duum. Looking forward to this :) (also noes 4 is my fave one for several irrational reasons 👉👈)

I am so hype to see the strangers chapters 1 through 3 even if the first is just a refresh of the original.

The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions were filmed concurrently and released six months apart in 2003. That's the only other instance I could remember. But to do three at a time? Very impressive.

Just saw the chapter 1 and it's actually pretty good. A must watch in a theatre. There were some Holes in the plot and some cliches. But overall it was pretty real. Felt like it Could actually happen to any of us.

I love so many of his movies. Idc what anyone says. The Covenant was a really fun movie.

I'm seeing this tonight, and this is getting me so hyped!

Look Renny seems great (he's the director, it's not like he controls every aspect of this project proposed by a studio) and I'm not completely opposed to exploring the Stangers origins...but this first chapter is essentially a remake. It's like a remake except it made the characters more unrelatable and dumb and didn't really do anything to make the titular Strangers more interesting or scary. If anything with how ridiculous the characters choices and behaviors were took me out of the movie and made it less scary. What creeped me out about the first movie was how easy it was to put yourself in the shoes of the couple dealing with this horrific situation. The new couple (mostly the boyfriend) were just annoying and made really stupid choices. Maybe the finished trilogy project will be better watching it all at once but this is not a promising start. This whole first chapter could have just been a cold opening.

This is properly why I would have a hard time being just a writer. If I was on set watching the film being made, I would want to help.

I’m very curious as to how Chapter 2 and 3 will turn out. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, Chapter 1 is just the original film but for the TikTok generation. It’s for people with very small attention spans. So I’m very new to the franchise. I saw the new movie last night and literally watched the original two for the first time the day before that. I really like the original because it has a nice slow burn to it. That is not present at all in this film, it is much faster paced, and a little more “action driven” I guess you would say. That’s not to say I disliked it, it just didn’t do anything new. Like I think it has a 14% on RT. I think that’s a bit harsh, I’d say it’s more deserving of something in the 30-40 percentile. From what I’ve read, the original script for The Strangers: Prey at Night intended to bring back Liv Tyler’s character but that ended up not happening so I’m guessing they’re trying that with this trilogy. I am interested in the sequels, and I’m hoping we see some smarter decisions from the lead characters cause damn did I want to smack the boyfriend. And I can’t say anything negative about Renny, I love his films. Die Hard 2 is my favorite Die Hard, sorry Alan Rickman. And I have an unhealthy obsession with Deep Blue Sea. I’ve seen that movie more times than anyone should rightfully admit.

What a terrible film, basically a remake of the first strangers…let’s hope 2 and 3 are different because this movie was such a let down and a rehash of things we’ve already seen before

I’m a really massive fan of the first two Strangers movies but this completely missed the mark for me in almost every way. Even still, this is such a fantastic and fascinating interview and you can tell that Harlin and the cast and crew were really operating under some daunting circumstances.

Loved the original, very excited for the trilogy. Im cautiously optimistic about how they handle the strangers origins 🧐💕🧐
