More people should be like this. I strive to do as much as I can by myself, research and learn, and jump in and start making and creating. It's the best feeling in the world when you finish a project yourself that you might have paid someone else thousands of dollars to do for you, but you get to save all of that money AND have the satisfaction and the learning experience of doing it yourself. Knowledge is power.

I did this about 6/7 years ago, the entire outside was sprayed with “Rinoliner” can’t recommend it too highly. If it not to late spray the bottom with it, it’s waterproof, bulletproof, and reasonably light. I’d be interested in how much this one weighs when your done (it’s something I worried about the entire build). Great job, fun watching it being built! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build.

@@torjones1701 Good point, but I think it’s a figure of speech. For it’s designed purpose, I have to say it’s a good product. I did my truck bed when I bought it back in Sept. 2005. Still going strong and the only marks aside from fading is an occasional oil stain or two. I tow a 5th wheel and when lubing the puck, some of it can splatter on the liner….

@@rudysaldivar4228 When someone gets the flu do we ask if they were vaccinated? How would this be any different? C19 is here and there will never be a time everyone is fully vaccinated. The current vaccine, while still effective won't remain so. It will be a never ending game of cat and mouse similar to the flu vaccine so all of this is really irrelevant. The government, MSM and social media just seem to want to generate fear and distrust and moke people who aren't vacced and get sick or worse die. It's pretty sick. None of this changes the fact that C19 is here to stay. Not sure where you fall within this entire spectrum, but to be blunt, it's nobody's business who's vacced or not. Every thing you did to build this is pretty much exactly how I build stuff so it’s cool to see someone else using the material and techniques that I use. It looks fantastic. Very nice 👍 The only thing I would have done differently is use aluminum for the structure to save weight. Back in the late 90's I built 2 truck bed campers, one with wood and steel framing and the other with aluminum, the aluminum one is still in use and was about 2/3 the weight. A tree fell on the other one.

When it comes to gluing metal you need mechanical means of hold which is hard. Having the glue bond in small holes with leak through is one way and is what we did at my at a concrete plant. We also used PL premium to bond concrete to metal. It was fairly strong between a flat piece of concrete and smooth metal, but the holes with the pl premium seeping through was better in shear and a bit better relative to the force which was concrete tables, steps, boulders, basically things that weight more than 200lbs at minimum

Hey Jimmy a trick when doing curved metal We use when insulating/metaling tanks and vessels is use bungee cord. actual cordage off a roll. you can pull it tight and tie a knot in it. It will hold the metal to the curve while you install it with rivets or screws. This will hopefully be a good tool for your toolbox. also clecos the wing nut or fancy no-mar kind are worth their weight in gold for temporary mockups.

I had a 1945 trailer in this design..except all wood, I tore it down in 2004. it survived all those years in maine on a windswept hill. original cloth covered wiring..the whole thing. I like this the welding internal frame.. that must be hundred years right there. I'd do the foam for sure..resonance of all the different materials is going to pulverize the wood and lose your rivets going down the road.
