No hate but it’s not like he carried bums or played with bums. He had a very good offensive team. Much deserved but let’s not overrate the accomplishment.
@@saanyofficial6154 he was the only superstar in that time in dallas though. Went through blazers, lakers, Okc. And miami with aging vets and role players. His cast wasnt shit, but no other star.
@@saanyofficial6154 Im a Lakers fan but He swept our team. Kobe still in his prime. Pau in his prime. Odom in his prime. Phil Jackson. Dirk had a deep squad but he still was the only superstar on that Mavs team. What we witnessed in 2011 was true greatness. Dirk isn't the GOAT but he had a GOAT-like performance during the 2011 playoffs.
Beast3517 Are you serious bruh I love Dirk but I would never be glad to lose a championship to anyone happy he got a ring but didn’t want him to do it against us
@@wolverineheat5606 I don't know if you understand, but if the Heat didn't lose this Finals they would probably not had the confidence and motivation to win the next two.
@@Heat3517 Honestly we had no business losing to the Mavs when we were more talented team and when LeBron was in Miami the expectation was to win the title every season until he left with the Spurs being the exception since we played them back to back years
It's amazing that when they talk about the Mavs beating the Heat in 2011, they find a way to talk more about the "Heatles" with Bron'/Wade/Bosh than give credit to what Dirk/JKidd/Jason Terry/Tyson Chandler/ShawnMarion/Caron Butler/Peja Stojakovic and team did. I think they really get overlooked alot for that accomplishment and get their just due.
Dirk won his ring in 2011, and then basically said thats it. LOL . he could have retired after that ring and his legacy would be intact. he was never the same after that, and i dont blame him. he acomplished everything he wanted after winning that ring i think.
That is bs. He was elite for a couple more years and then age kicked in. In addition, cuban elected to break up the championship team, and every supporting cast dirk had after '11 was laughable (as it was for most of his career btw)
You gotta love Dirk because he is a great player and person, but its sad watching him on the court (especially) this year. You must know when is time to say goodbye and that time comes. I watched almost every Dallas game this season and Dirk is the main reason for couple losses. Come on Dirk, save your dignity, there is life after career
I think Luka will be a good replacement for Dirk Dallas approaching this situation the right way the old star is heading out time to bring in his replacement for the future.

2011 Mavs are one of the few instances I can think of where the team had 1 legit superstar. Good all around team obviously but 1 star... And they beat the Heat with James, Wade, and Bosh
Because those are implants and veneers. And luka still has his own (which is way more natural imho). Happens if you get them beaten time and time again. I remember when he got them first.
I like your avatar. It reminds me of how lithuanians were under the bootheel of communism for so long and why I laugh in the face of every dipshit college kid who says its a perfeft system
I know he was part of that 2006 collapse but calling him the goat is too harsh. And he made up for it in 2011. Dirk is one the best players ever and a great guy by all accounts.
He took way more pay cuts than any other superstar ever has. That Chandler Parsons deal went through cause of him and Parsons played ass afterwards. True NBA fans know his loyalty was unrivaled.
When Dirk was awared the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt' ('Silver Bay Leaf'), the highest official decoration for German athletes, in the President's Office in Berlin, he reportedly left the award ceremony taking the public bus. Talking about real...
he also beat 3 future mvps on one team OKC thunder, he swept kobe and retired phil jackson who were the defending back 2 back champs, and beat a good portland team all in one playoff run
@@deezy7811 Well, instead of Wade and LeBron making fun of Dirk and coughing on that video Dirk should be making fun of Wade flopping every single game in 06 but Dirk is not a bitch... he's a classy guy and a great person... what Wade and Bron Bron did in 2011 was just a bitch ass move... that's why Dirk is loved... because like Frank Sinatra said "he did it his way"... without any bitch ass moves...
@@Oncopoda kg needed all star prime help ... and young rondo dirk had a 38 yr old kid 35 yr old marion a journeyman in chandler before he won dpoy and his second leading scorer butler out since january and just him and his sixth man J terry rolling out smashing Portland good team kobe swept Phil Jackson gone .. then beat a team with three future MVPS and then lebron and then lebron and the big three all in there primes ... Him winning a championship is one of the most if not THE most satisfying thing that I witnessed in 20 years of watching the NBA. I'm a raptors fan by the way, not a mavs fan.
That's a lil too far being another Dirk is a long shot because we wont see another player who sacraficed so much for 1 team especially in this kind of era and Dirk was a game changer he the reason why these bigs shoot more 3s and also Dirk has done well enough to be top 3 at his position being the next Dirk is a lot harder than it sounds imma knick fan but kp really cant be the next Dirk imo
Me being born and raised in Dallas I cannot name a more influential athlete for our city. Yeah we have Troy aikmen, and others but...he brought us our first championship..he beat lebron! The one I consider to be the best player in the world! He single handily spread fear throughout the nba for his fade away. I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for my city. When you leave I might even cry..Dallas give this man a statue 💙💙💙
@@harjit7777 True but with Kobe we r talking 6 rings! 2 three Pete's!! And it cost us the most anticipated finals matchup never seen Kobe vs Lebron!! And I'm pretty sure if Jason Terry destroyed LBJ then Kobe would of demolished him 😉
@@grantrmoore 5 rings is still masterful lol and yes he did ruin kobe lebron but truthfully ... dwight ruined that first didnt he in 2009 LMAO with the magic ? Then dirk got kobe 2 yrs later when Bron finally broke through ... guess it was never meant to happen ? Kobe Pau whatever was left of Odom and Bynum and Fisher would have beat the 2011 heat for sure
I grew up seeing MJ in his prime. He is the GOAT and was my all-time favorite. As an adult who moved to Dallas after college and got to watch Dirk up close in his prime, I can say he is my all-time favorite NBA player. I love that guy. Gonna be tears when he hangs it up.
I’ve been watching Dirk since I was 8, I’m 24 now; he has brought so much joy to Dallas. I’m forever grateful for the memories he’s made for me, I know I’m going to cry like a baby when he retires. 😔😔😔
Now that ESPN realized the power of European fans in their youtube views they won't stop clickbaiting DONCIC name... I mean, I love the kid but its getting annoying
I Love you Dirk. I switched teams for you my friend... Through the ups and downs you were such a pleasure to watch for many of years, OG. Thank you for all the memories. Your personality, and gentle mannerisms reminded me of my brother often.
Least expected and most impressive playoff run in my lifetime with the Mavericks championship. Dirk led Dallas to beat loaded teams (Lakers (Kobe, Pau, Bynum), Thunder (KD, Russ and Harden) and Heat (Wade, LeBron and Bosh). He did this with Jason Terry as his 2nd best scorer. They played great team ball and Dirk was the prime example of a superstar putting a team on his back. Much respect to Dirk, one of the all time greats
the supermanisalive Dirk has a really good run. But dirk wasn’t the scorer KD is and wasn’t the defender KD is. Stop it. Don’t let blind hate cloud facts.
Is he the one beat the Miami Heat Big 3? Kinda surprising Media like ESPN never want to mention about that final game. I think it safe to said now why Lebron is the Media darling of all time.
Chip Skylark he’s the next Jordan, as the media sees it. They’ve been saying that since he was in highschool. Having, or advertising, someone as “the next Jordan” will always be good for the media and the game.
Luka Doncic finna be a hall of famer and superstar passing up giannis mitchel murray jokic adebayo herro tatum simmons zion ja embiid towns booker and all the young players with potential 15 time all star 9 all nba 1st team 3 mvp 2 rings 2 finals mvp thats my guess prob horrible but he def finna pass up those noobs i mentioned earlier
Watch this and then go back and watch Lebrons Christmas day Interview. Look at how humble Dirk is compared to that narcissist. Never forget Lebron and Wade accused Dirk of being fake sick in the finals and came to the game coughing in front of cameras imitating him. Only to blow their lead and lose infamously
he won against the goat ! so he is the goat ? ! hahaha ! stop it LBJ ! just ball ! and let the basketball legends say that youre the GOAT ! by the way MJ is the GOAT !
I follow his career whole my life one of the most humble, nice and extremely talented guy...I meet him 3 times in Europe, always happy, always ready to chat with fans. In my opinion the GOAT from Europe and easily top 10 all time for me overall...He changed the game with his fade away, he open roads for so many people from Europe to NBA...Dirk is the best!
People always bring to mind what LeBron did with bring a championship to Cleveland after their drought. But, they need to do a 30 for 30 on Dirk and his journey to bringing the first ever to Dallas. The Mavs beating Miami (2011) is alot like Cleveland coming back from 3-1 down versus The Warriors (2016)...no one gave them a chance to do it. Salute to Dirk...simply one of the best to ever do it and a great ambassador for the European game. First ballot HOF fa sho' Diiiirrrrrrrk!!! (In My Charles Barkley Voice lol).
He doesn’t care about people making fun of him, had nothing to prove. He’s a regular and finales MVP. 50/40/90 player. First ballot HOF, double digit all star honors, multiple all NBA.
Players like Dirk are a dying breed in the NBA. Be a Superstar in the league in a small market throughout his illustrious career and win a Championship against A super team in Miami. Nothing but Respect from a die hard Lakers Fan
Dirk the GOAT. Beat the greatest team ever assembled. Lebron James the best player in the world. Dwayne wade, the 3rd runner up in mvp voting, Bosh a superstar that took the Raptors far in the east when they were actually good. And Dirk had no allstars around him. If that's what makes you the goat, Dirk is closer to the goat than lebron. Lebron thought hes one for beating curry and klay Thompson lmao. 50yr drought? Try 1st championship ever for the Mavericks.
I remember when I met Dirk. This was 2007 or 2008 when Greg Buckner was playing for the Mavs. He had the Greg Buckner foundation and there was a bowling night. My dad spend quite a bit of money to get in and we got to bowl with Josh Howard, Dirk, and former coach Avery Johnson. I remember telling Dirk I was his biggest fan. He replied "really? That's so cool!" It was one of the best nights of my life.
Of course these legends love to discredit the younger gen stars. Dirk heck even Kobe was a nobody their first 2 seasons in the league. Very few ppl like Kareem Lebron and Jordan are elite from their first season including doncic. But legends always want to compare their BEST years with a rookies first year. Why not compare rookie seasons if that’s the case cuz believe it or not Lonzo had a better rookie season than Kobe
It's more so about opportunities and the goals of their teams. Kobe was on a championship contender with an all star at the 2 position (4 in all). Dirk was coming in at a time when his style of PF was an unknown. Plus Euros had no respect then. LeBron, Melo would have come of the bench too if they were from Europe in 98 or were playing for the 96-97 lakers as rookies
I would say that year he beat Lebron, Kobe, and Durant was when they were probably most even out in skill. Kobe was just coming out a championship season and his team were the favorites to make the finals. Lebron was coming off a season in Cleveland where he won the MVP, and Durant just came off averaging 30 points the season before. If it was any year they were most competitive evenly it was 2010-11 and Dirk beat them all.
Most crafty? definitely not yet, hardest working? None of us know how hard each player works that's a massive reach to assume a rookie is already the hardest worker in the league.
I think people are different Some guys hit their prime early while others hit their prime through their mid or late in their careers. Dirk hit it later than Luka but can't deny Luka is a monster.
