Dirt 5 has had a few misconceptions about being an arcade game. The gameplay however is not like those arcade racers. Though this game wouldn't be quite a racing sim, it still has the same physics (handling) as a Dirt Rally game.
Despite the variety of driving aids, players still need to control their car. If one wants to have an authentic experience, you can turn all the unnecessary assists off.
On the PS5 with the Dualsense, Dirt 5's experience is quite immersive. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers makes the player feel the vehicle and track conditions. Bumps, tire slip, understeer, oversteer and various traction conditions are all simulated like a force feedback race wheel.
Dirt 5 is like a lighter version of Dirt Rally and is best played with friends. On consoles it can support 4 player split screen across campaign, arcade and online.
