Around where I live, the trails have a lot of 4-wheeler ruts, so when I went out yesterday after a storm, whenever I went through a puddle there was a 50/50 chance of slipping around because I can’t see under the puddle.

was I supposed to get dizzy watching this?? I just watched a few videogame versions of this but I didn't get dizzy. Maybe it was all the wild boars and alligators that kept me from getting dizzy:p a definite thumbs up and new sub :-)

@DirtGrinderEnduro 7 лет назад
Thank you! I'll be sure to work on the stabilization. You have earned a new sub!
@theiconicmr.perfect7499
@theiconicmr.perfect7499 7 лет назад
thanks for the new sub! I don't think I was dizzy because of anything you did. it's probably just a natural reaction to a helmet-mounted camera. Plus, if you were riding down a highway or any street-and I've seen plenty of high-speed motorcycle races on highways-I never felt dizzy, so it must be because you were riding through a narrow path with bumpy terrain so there was a lot of bouncing around-which you can't help of course, and the course was very narrow, unlike the open road. The only way to eliminate the problem would be to stay off the trails, but that would defeat the whole purpose of your videos, so please, stay ON the trails. :-) And why only one videos so far? Just getting started for the dirtbike season?

All the mountain trails that i frequent here in new mexico tend to all be covered in big loose babyheads and are often times unavoidable. Not sure if you've encountered trails like that but what would you recommend is the best measure in dealing with them i usually do pretty good but there always seems to be 1 on the trail that will kick me off before the day is over
@DirtGrinderEnduro
@DirtGrinderEnduro 6 лет назад
There are the plentiful of trails when it comes to rocks (babyheads) in North Idaho. One of the keys to accomplishing such terrain and Obstacles is having the correct riding posture/stance. Standing on the balls of your feet, knees slightly bent, chest high, elbows up and most importantly looking forward, ahead on the trail while remaining relaxed not tense. One of the most common mistakes in trail riding is riders become tense in sketchy situations which cause the rider to jerk the bars thus ending up on the ground. Also a lot of riders have the same issue with looking at the front tire in sketchy situations. Avoid the tire and look ahead! I hope this helps.
@MrCheaterpipe

DirtGrinder Enduro thats the way i ride ive been riding for many years now and am fully aware of posture momentum weight distribution clutch control gear selection and all the other factors involved i did neglect to say that my trail bike is a klr 650 and before you say anything i know i know wasnt really designed for such rough terrain but i like it for what it is. do you think an aftermarket steering damper would be worth the investment?
@DirtGrinderEnduro
@DirtGrinderEnduro 6 лет назад
You know that is a very good question. My dad has been pondering the same thing of purchasing a steering damper/stabilizer. I haven’t had the opportunity to ride a bike with one equipped. I have heard mixed reviews on them in the sense of open trails not quite as sharpe corners or switchbacks they are awesome. If your in the more technical stuff switchbacks and sharpe corner I have heard the can be a nuisance to operate. Then again that’s only what I have heard. I have been unable to formulate my own opinion with them.

Any tips on riding up hill in mud? I was out for the first time yesterday and layed it down a couple times.
@DirtGrinderEnduro
@DirtGrinderEnduro 3 года назад
There are alot of variables, but depending on the steepness of the terrain you want to try and get your weight over the rear tire, avoid wheel spin so don't go wild on the throttle. Maintain a steady speed and use the clutch at the sweet spot to assist in avoiding the wheel spin. Hopefully that helps!
@greg6162
@greg6162 Год назад
@@DirtGrinderEnduro never rode before… but wouldn’t using the clutch cause your bike to possibly roll backwards on a hill… or do you just find the bite point in the clutch and use it as an engine brake? Sorry, looking to learn to ride and I’m already 42yrs old and I’m 6’3 200/lbs so a lot working against me Lol. I learned a 5-speed car in 15min and raced at high speeds but the margin for error seems a lot lower on a bike due to body positioning. I’m thinking Yamaha’s because they’re bigger bike’s with stiffer suspension. Wouldn’t go above a 250… would do a 150 if I could fit and not look I stole some kid’s dirt bike 😂

Any tips on gnarly ruts? Me and a buddy went to a trail park in Illinois’s a few weeks ago and ended up on the Jeep and UTV trail where there were 2 foot deep ruts 2 foot across. As much I tried I kept sliding into those ruts with no easy way out
@DirtGrinderEnduro
@DirtGrinderEnduro 6 лет назад
Avoid them as much as you can, but when you get sucked in ride the rut until you find a comfortable location to exit based off your skill level. Ruts will always be a part of riding because they are everywhere. Just have to ensure to pick good lines to avoid them. Sometimes they can help!

I do carry an 18 inch folding Silky Saw in my pack. SOmetimes you get trees over the trail that are too high to ride over and to low to ride under and the mountain side makes going around possible. Or, if I come across a downed tree or branch that is kind of sticking out in the trail waiting to impale someone, I stop and cut it back...Pay it forward on the trail and it will pay you back

To me it seems like common trail courtesy and I’m just now getting into trail riding. Not trying to say I know more than you but you should probably not be putting out beginner videos.
