My first time riding in the Dominican Republic! I was honoured to have been invited to their event called Navidad Pal Monte (Christmas to the forest). The event is basically a giant ride/enduro party where rider's head out onto a 50 mile course for a fun day of riding. This video is footage from the ride day, although I unfortunately didn't get to film the majority of the ride because I didn't bring enough GoPro batteries. The ride went way longer than expected because of all the bottle necks on the course and I unknowingly filmed all the boring stuff in the beginning and missed all the epic creeks and canyons in the second half. The footage is still pretty neat though! I hope you enjoy it.

"F-off" (Hey, I have a picture of my Mother in my wallet!). Clint just passed him on that rocky up-hill. He was not trying to butt in between you, (nobody was in fact). He was just trying to make the hill. I know you were just a bit frustrated with the ride. That is one of those rides where I would either want to be first, or way back so I can enjoy "my" ride the best I can. Riding is always fun, but I have found that on most group rides I have done, (Harley or dirt), I usually could not mark the ride itself down among the most fun I have had riding a bike. We get on dirt bikes to get away from road rage. :)

Take off down the streets, and onto the nearest trail. We don't have that riding freedom in the USA hardly anymore, and I am not talking about the streets. In Michigan, we used to ride everywhere rural. Today, I have to trailer my bike to get it to some state trails, (or play on my 1 acre, 2nd gear backyard track), like I had to do when I lived in a city.

Haha! It takes a lot for me to get annoyed out on the trail (especially during an event), but I was struggling with some terrible travel sickness and had been through a lot in the days leading up to the event. Although the trip was a good experience, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I'd have been less stressed out and in good health.

I promise you Meggs. Bring your bars back (rotate back), until your grip ends are pointing down at about a 10 degree angle, and ride it for 2 rides. You will ever go back to the ape hanger set up for sure. We had it right in the late 80's and early 90's, before freestyle and pro SX rhythm sections. You will only gain control if you don't ride those 2 things only. I promise.

@@megs_braap I did a amateur MX race back in the 80's at a place that was later called "Big Air" in Newago Michigan, (still have to get your crew to Michigan for a Baldwin area CCC trail ride). It was so dusty, after a mid pack start, (big mistake on that track), all I could see on the 3rd chopped up hard ground straight in probably 4th gear, was the tops of a few riders helmets in front of me. We were pretty used to dust back in those days,---but not 4th gear blind like that. Everybody made it.

On a "fun" ride, non racing event there will always be folks who WANT to go faster, and folks who CAN'T go faster. The slower guys are managing their ride, either at their limit, or their personal safety limit. I ride with a buddy on a lot of fun rides, and I can tell you no matter what time we leave the staging area, there are ALWAYS guys who can catch us and pass. But the WORST is the fast groups of guys who pass in difficult spots and jam our lines. Making it much harder for us. then a bit later, those same guys are off their bikes, side of trail, taking a break, so they can do it again, and again, no joke. And they are not respectful, they just get around as fast as they can in tight woods trails. I have simply learned to live with it. I am a faster rider than my bud, and I let him lead the pace. Half or more of the pack drop out on these rides because of no conditioning, and by the half way point there are far fewer riders to contend with on a 50+ mile loop. When it's really difficult to pass someone, it might be because they know if they stop to allow a pass, they will struggle immensely by giving up that momentum. On a fun ride event, everyone should understand this.
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA Год назад
I can understand your point of view. But the greatest beauty of motorcycle/dirt bike riding is the many different ways that we are free to ride the way we want. Nobody is trying to hurt you physically, and for me it is a far stretch to say that people who ride faster than you are disrespectful. I remember a woods ride I did with a group a couple friends hooked me up with. I am, (was), great in the whooped out fast trails, but these guys liked the tight stuff, (and were really good at it). I was so mad because on the fast stuff, I could beat them, but then they would turn into the tight stuff. Man, one guy passed me where I thought there was no room. I could have freaked a bit and taken us both down. I was so mad when we came to a big log jam. To my left and a bit below, there are all the woods guys going down the ravine to get around the long jam, and I wanted in front of them badly. Logs were piled up to my right, neatly, and I jumped up on them and down the other side, a line nobody took. It worked until the next tight section. I can't remember being so mad during a ride. But at the end of the day, having dinner with them all,----it was still a blast. IMO, unless you get hurt. There is no such thing as a bad ride. :) Try to let them by, and they will not have to jam it. If you think they are disrespectful, I have a suspicion you are blocking them. Fess up. :)

@ow-my-achilles1106 Год назад
@@EarthSurferUSA I can't say you're right. It's all about allowing slower riders to get through tough sections instead of trying to force an unsafe situation and blaming them for it because they're slower. This event was NOT a race. Period. You maybe did not understand that, but there was NO need for trying to rush anyone or complain about slower riders in tight terrain where injuries happen most often. If fast guys wish to race each other in these non compete fun ride events, they should head out first at the start of the event. Period, and stay there. that's all there is too it. Let the slower guys ride their own pace with out the fast guy drama. It's totally not necessary.

Love your riding. I dunno what version GoPro you have. The 5-8 you can pull the battery, so, no battery in the GoPro, take the charging port door off, or, if your case allows, just open the door and put a USB-C straight from a battery brick in a pocket to the GoPro. I have done that for over three years (there is even a kit to make it waterproof, a special cable and a do-dad to glue to the case to keep the cable seated (X~PWR-H5 48" All-Weather External Power Kit for GoPro 5-7, x pwr h8 all-weather external power kit for gopro hero8) With a cellphone sized external battery, you can film for 24hrs. 400GB U3 V30 micro SD chips in the GoPro 6 and 7, you can capture 12 hrs, non-stop. It's really worth it to buy an old Hero Black 6 or 7, just to do the chin cam. You might have to sew a inside pocket for the battery pack. I use a bigger one, 20000 mAh, it's 6.6in x 3.2 in x .9 in. Maybe that above info will help. I'm not affiliated with any of that stuff. I just use it and it's been reliable.

I’ve watched a ton of your videos and wish you would not included the ride through town footage. Sorry, just my 2 cents from an old man who’s been riding off-road 49 years. More people ride motorcycles than drive cars, so I can assure you the towns people have nothing against bikes. In fact, just about every local was attending this event. Before the event started, the roads were just as full of bikes weaving through traffic. It blew my mind haha! It is a completely different way of life out there. As an old guy myself who grew up in a lot of Michigan riding places that are now gone, it does not surprise me that dirt biking has taken on ff in city streets, I guess. In fact,----I like seeing it. Michigan now has a "ORV" sticker, (stands for "Off Road Vehicle"), to ride down our rural secondary roads, (for an extra cost of course), at 25mph or less, (even though dirt bikes don't have speedometers). The state closed off all the trails. Maybe they are riding the city, because they have no where else to ride? Heck, Kelly Smith (Michigan's last factory MX/SX racer), was on the radio begging the state for a place to ride in rural Michigan. He doesn't get it either.
