Dirt Talk: On-Farm Composting 

This first class will be online with Kellie Henwood, WSU Regional Small Farms Coordinator who will be joined by Bob Gilby of Rokalu Farms. They will be delivering the following topics along with Q&A time for local farmers at the end:
- Introducing the compost process - what is happening and why?
- Calculating C:N ratios and overview types of compost systems (windrows, static piles, aeration, enclosed systems)
- Management of composting to reduce pathogens and risk, along with Food Safety considerations (Organic Certification, food and produce safety requirements)
- Overview of a local passive aerated compost system
- Troubleshooting common compost pile problems
- Farmer Q&A
