Part of me wants to feel bad for these people getting publicly humiliated like this but then I remember that they were actively serving food that could cause serious bodily harm to someone and even if it didn’t, is at least absolutely disgusting. Then I don’t feel so bad anymore.
I think the number one delay in them correcting their inspection failures and code violations is money: remember, most of these are family owned restaurants. They appear to be operating successfully, but most like the costs after salaries and the like doesn't leave much room to make improvements such as periodical pest control, asbestos, etc. I'm not saying it's right, but it's something to factor in. Where I live, the county actually offers restaurants that have failed inspections services to remedy mostly every singly problem at costs lower than what they would normal pay.
if it makes you feel any better. sometimes there is legit nothing the owner can do. some cities dont really take care of their infrastructure allowing for problems to arise that impact local businesses and homes. I used to live in an area where roaches infested the sewers and would just come up through them to any place with a drain.
I worked at Old country buffet and we ran a really tight ship we definitely didn't fail a health inspections we cleaned regularly although it was kind of tight to fit that time in but we did.
I actually looked at many places I eat at and one place (Chinese of course) was recently shut down temporarily due to roach infestation, mice droppings in the kitchen, poorly stored food, etc. Never again. Same with a place near my job that's in a more affluent neighborhood. These places need to be shut down without the ability to reopen.
I used to work at Texas DSHS in the Manufactured Foods and Drug Division. It also housed the retail foods division. I’ve seen horrible things, but not all restaurants are bad. I’ve even seen one restaurant with a proud 98 health score since I stopped working for DSHS in Texas. Your comment is false
I worked for Sheetz (which is a gas station with a kitchen for those who have not heard of them) and our kitchen was always clean. Sheetz runs a very tight ship and has their own inspection team who randomly visit once every 6 weeks. This is in addition to the state inspectors.
Loll dude expected the guy with the mic to feel threatened by the machete but he ran up to him and got straight to the point. Savage level: 100000000000
yes he was. When you're guilty of something and it has been seen and recorded/filed.....there's no need to be defensive. Just fix what you've neglected. This should motivate you to stay on top of avoiding such fuckery that can harm your guest and you. But most folk just want to be wrong and strong vs just move past what they've irresponsibly neglected. Plus an inspector/ poor ratings and fines shouldn't be the driving force behind cleanliness and consideration for those that are around you.
@@reygallegos4912 I was gonna say he was swearing bullets I don’t believe that situation was fixed he was wayyyy to nervous to not be hiding something common sense tells you that
When a restaurant owner is forced to clean their establishment instead of taking care of cleanliness on their own they should be forced to close permanently.
Country Club supervisor handled it pretty well. Just admit there was a problem and say you've fixed it now. Being confrontational (and with a machete) is what the news reporters want because that draws in viewers.
That's y I fired both of u from the job for not doing ur job I told u all to clean up before u leave for the day don't blame restaurant industry it's u who's responsible 😂😂😂 cleaning
I was thinking they didn't know. Then they're waiting on their food hearing this. He's walking around w a machete so they probably don't dare to ask for their money back. 😧
I grew up in a successful restaurant family and have a good idea of what it takes to keep the food prepping areas and equipment Clean and Free of infestations. My dad and I spent a good deal of time after hours cleaning up and on weekends he would go up and do deep cleaning behind all the equipment. Years later as a truck driver delivering food to restaurants, I was appalled to see the conditions present in almost every restaurant I delivered to, including the very best restaurants and high-end fine-dining establishments. It all comes down to who's in the kitchen doing the work and today it's mostly young people who don't know what they're doing, or people from different cultures who have third world standards. Thank God for food inspectors!
What would you do if your mom called channel 10 news to look at your room while it was dirty and 20 cameras came in without warning. Lol you’d tell them gtfo lol not saying he’s right but what’d you expect?
"There's a huge roach and rodent issue" Owners: " we're working on it... the roaches, rodents and I are working on negotiations that will benefit all parties involved"
Inspector: we found roaches and rodents in the kitchen and 45 other violations. What you have to say? Owner: what rodent and roaches? they make great proteins to a diet. Inspector: 🤦🏻♂️
Guess what, once I worked at a "Trendy" Hotel in New York, called Hudson, I was a banquet server and I was horrified by they way food was prepared and stored, disgusting! Having said that even the so called 5 stars restaurants have nasty hygiene and poorly handle food away from the eyes of its patrons, best thing to do is avoid eating out as much as possible!
Spent 20+ years in Pest control as a QA auditor/manager and absolutely correct. Fast food restaurants and chains usually get inspected by corporate. Raises and bonuses rely heavily on sanitation. Seen Zagut star restaurants dirty as hell while local MCDs was spotless.
He dirty, So he don't care about his food.Ewwwwww and the man in the blue shirt is still there waitn for his food?? After I heard the reporter I would of ran out the the door.
When dude was confronted about the rodents, look at his face. He knows it's true 😂 he could've handled it way better. Kicking him out was a cowardly move.
Oddly enough I don’t think he was being threatening with it. It looks like he was cooking with it and just didn’t put it down when he walked out and eventually realized he’s got this big knife and doesn’t know what to do with it.
1:31 - I thought he said "Priya's Rodent Shop", and I started to say to myself, "Well played, sir. Well played." Then I saw the actual name of the restaurant. haha
I remember when I found out there is an allowance for roach particles in cereals chips and all kind of things. Hell even starbucks and tropicana were using cochineal extract. Look up what the fda allows in the food you purchase from the store and eat at ur home.
You have to go beyond the perimeter of the building to look for the rat burrows and start from there.the bait boxes need to be placed at the edge of the property and checked and refilled often otherwise you don't have control, you need the pest service every 2 weeks as a minimum for any kind of infestation especially rats and you need to check your structure for entry points and seal them once you find them.if you have rats present in the building you really need to close for about 2 weeks to properly clean and repair things but nobody ever does that
@@michaelmerck7576 never. Also I'd love to read that exterminators service report and see how many open conditions there were. They never wanna do proper sanitation either, just want you to cover a kitchen in insecticide like thats how you do pest control or something.
@@chicagokyle5126 I had issues like that in the recent past. 🏘 I lived upstairs in a 2 story section of a apt complex from 2012 to 2017. 1 of the 1st floor residents, a deranged US military veteran in a VA supportive housing program would CONSTANTLY leave his apt door wide open, windows open. Rats, ants, roaches, flies, bugs etc would creep all over. The nutcase was evicted after a year or so. BTW, I saw by his door 🚪 how he had STACKS of beer cases. 😲 I'd add too, I'm a veteran 4yr US Army and a former VA employee.
The restaurant owner's are DISGUSTING PEOPLE !! I got food poisoning from a hamburger at a fair in California. My sister and I ordered a hamburger a piece and her's was fine. My hamburger was from a different package and later that night I was very ill. I didn't go to the hospital but I probably should had gone some some test could confirm the food poisoning. I recovered in about 3 day's.
Lol. I clicked on the video to see how outragious it is for a restaurant owner to come out with a machete. When the said roti shop, I was like "that's just cooking utensils."
I like that the second guy at least admitted that they had roaches, every other Dirty Dining I've watched so far had all the restaurant workers denying any problems
If I were in that situation, I would make every effort to save face with my customers and assure everyone that everything possible is being done to make the store as sanitary as possible. Refusing to speak doesn't help his business and only hurts it.
Or . . . . . tell the arrogant reporter to use the nasty millions that his local news channel generates to help pay for a cleaning service. That strip mall probably had pests long before the restaurant moved in. Either way it’s very hypocritical for a rich news station to go out of their way to pick on the little man.
Just seeing how he is dressed , i wouldnt want to eat there!! What a gross disgusting place that should be shut down!! Someone should sue him and then see how quick he shuts it down!!
Exactly, these azz holes, trying to make it look like he came out with the machete to attack them and that’s not what it is besides nasty establishment
I love the music playing in the background and heres some funny lyrics to go with it. 🎶come on down and try some rodents, seasoned with rat droppings, my food will give you poisoning🎶 🎶please dont shut me down, shut me dooown🎶 🎶let me serve you, dont mind what that rat's gnawing, how many in your party? Wait please don't leave, please don't leeeeave!!!!🎶
as someone from georgia i can confirm this. its a shame they werent specific about the insects being palmetto/waterbugs or the smaller german roaches which are the real issue
Bruh this has to be probably the best example of Deliberate stupidity I ever seen. You get ordered shut for unsanitary reasons so instead of taking ownership you rather appear on local news as maniac with a cutlass with no regard to fix the problem. And more power to that customer in blue, because even after overhearing the conversation he remains loyal.
Here in jersey city, we had a Jamaican restaurant that smelled like dead decaying rats. No one was inside so we made a quick u-turn. From the outside looks like a numbers hole.
