God these guys are hilarious, honestly this is one of the few things that help being depressed over life with covid/etc going on in everyone's lives. I got Covid back last March while....was lying to us about it and there was no relief in hospitals like there is now... Actually they told me don't come here cos we don't know shit about this virus. I did a marathon of old Bodega boys to get me through, while doing all the shit I did. I feel like they saved my life. Your body produces natural oils to protect your skin. Also, the stink we associate with being dirty is your body killing bacteria. So while yes, you should clean yourself, it is possible to 1) over clean yourself and strip your body of its natural defenses and 2) depending on your lifestyle you dont always have to shower daily

Doctors say unless you get very dirty and sweaty you don't need to take a shower everyday because it's actually bad for your skin. I have super dry skin and all I'm only allowed to take three showers a week because it's bad for your skin to shower too much

The guidelines vary a lot between patients. It’s dependent on each person’s factors like how much sebum they excrete, the status of the skin barrier/acid mantle, pre-existing skin conditions and the current skin microbiome. i.e. if a patient with an already compromised acid mantle over-showers they could further irritate their skin, while another person with oily skin could easily develop a skin infection from microbial overgrowth by not showering enough. There’s also the question of lifestyle- what do you tell a patient with dry irritated skin who sweats in workouts every day? Don’t they still have to shower to remove sweat? It’s so complicated.
