Their drummer mentioned that Toto is one of his greatest inspirations, and he writes a lot of theirs stuff, so

Yes, TOTO definitely has been mentioned many times as an influence by the Dirty Loops guys. And yes, Aron is not just an amazing drummer but song writer too… 🤯

Oh man, loved loved that reaction! Thank you, molto gracie 🙏 It is a crazy good song, and you’ve pointed out so many interesting things. Jonah’s voice is just so full of emotion. He can express ANYTHING with his vocals! I’m glad also how you analyzed the musicianship in their songwriting, the beautiful simplicity contrasting with their insane technical skills. I often think that Dirty Loops is all about contrasts. Dynamic, rhythmical… And Jonah’s vocal lines! Yes, he’s been singing in church choirs for a long time, starting very early in life, but discovered his ability to sing lead vocals in a band only later in life. I guess he would’ve received good vocal training from his choir years (just guessing). He also has/had an aunt who was a big opera singer in Sweden. So maybe they would’ve sat down together and chatted about singing sometimes… ☺️ I loved the format of your video: that you listened through once, and then had a separate analysis of it, afterwards 👍 From that same Dirty Loops album (Phoenix) also comes “Rock You”, “Work Shit Out” and “World on Fire”. Three more insane songs. Then there is their first album, ‘Loopified’, another hell of an album, as well as ‘Turbo’ with Cory Wong. You did “Thriller” from there. You also might really enjoy “Follow the Light” from that same collaboration 🔥 Thanks again for a wicked reaction 👍✌️🙏

I agree the format of the video is very nice. Jonahs parents were both choir directors (classical church music), so he has been singing all of his life - even though he didn't consider himself to be a singer for a lot of years.

Great analysis - I missed you mentioning the beautiful "spinning around" feeling you get at 4.59 (in your video) "I got caught up in the universe", where it feels a bit like you get thrown around because of the arpeggios in the piano in a different tonality than earlier. One of my favorite parts in this song 🙂. You should check out "Work shit out" or "Rock you" next or maybe "Accidentally in love" if you really want some Stevie Wonder vibes. By the way I agree their way of making music also reminds me a bit of Toto.

Great point, Ellen, I never thought of it as ‘spinning around’ but it’s on point 👍 It’s also what Aron does there, that different rhythmical feel… Nuts, those guys 🔥🧡🔥

Your analysis is SUPERB in the instrumental structure and vocal performance! I especially enjoy your final thoughts even though my impression is more of a resolution of his melancholy perhaps self pity with only a bare thread of hope. I'll have to listen again and review also the band Toto as I find these type of songs much more intriguing and complex . They make their virtuosity catchy, elegant and subversive yet easier to enjoy.

Sei troppo bravo Giacomo! Dedicare dello spazio anche a band e musicisti di questo calibro può non essere 'super social' ma è davvero di valore per far conoscere artisti straordinari ed accontentare anche i nerd della musica. 😂I Loops sorprendono sempre, in OGNI SANTO S-I-N-G-O-L-O pezzo. Il che è assolutamente fenomenale! Devi fare assolutamente delle reactions su Follow the Light and Rock You.

Ooh, I like that idea... the virtuosity washes over you _gently._ That's a beautiful way to put that sentiment. I _do_ love virtuosity, but even for me, sometimes with bands like Dream Theater it can get a bit, er... masturbatory, you know? With Dirty Loops it always has a purpose.

True! I also love DT but especially in their early albums like "Images and words" that's a masterpiece, technically virtuous but also full of emotion. In other albums they didn't reach that passion and became technical for its own sake..

Grazie ❤

Please consider one of these suggestions to view or react. The duet of Diana Ankudinova and Yulia Parshuta on the song by Toni Braxton - Un-Break My Heart will bring you real pleasure. World-class vocalists in a cool show. According to the conditions of the show "Duets", the participants of the duet do not know with whom they are singing in pairs, they are separated by a mirror partition, and the sound in the ear monitors is greatly distorted. The main essence of the show is the emotions of the artists, when near the end of the performance the partition is lowered and the artists see each other. The best sound is the video from Diana's channel. The reaction to this video must have video image protection. Also excellent Diana duets without copyright restrictions. Diana Ankudinova and Brandon Stone - The Day You (Diana's official channel) Diana Ankudinova and Ildar Abdrazakov (top 3 most powerful operatic voices in the world (bass)) - song “Thank You” (KWstas Vagias channel)
