Wow. This is a jazz-funk-rock band with some serious chops. They not only did some significant tranforms to the rhythm and made it work (and yeah, I do also hear that little hitch in the reworked hook and it works, it's just interesting how it startles the first couple of times, isn't it?) ... but omg that whole instrumental and outro, that was when I knew these folks were on another level. Thanks for the intro!

ET Brenner, check Dirty Loops out on their YT channel, it’s worth it! Also, Cory Wong and his horns here are such stellar musicians. Check him out, too and his podcast with C W and the Wong Notes ;) Cory also features Dirty Loops bassist Henrik on one of his podcasts where they talk about, amongst other things, the making of this album - serious fun, and very interesting ☺️

Very funky!! Love the guitar, the drums and the brass, very tight. I was lucky enough to see MJ here in Australia and Thriller has always been a favorite. His voice sounded seriously like Stevie Wonder. Thanks as always.

This comment after my first one had disappeared from my screen: “Heartfelt reaction, honest, loved it! I’ve simply gotten used to this version of Thriller, as an independent, different thing to the original, -just different. The jazz and funk in this one, it’s all that and a bag of chips ;) “Follow The Light” from the same collaboration album, is mindblowing too 🔥🔥🔥”

If you really wanna challenge yourself with another MJ cover, listen to “Bad” by Jonah Nilsson, the singer/keyboardist of Dirty Loops. Everything played and filmed by Jonah except guest solos by Jordan Rudess and two other. Simply amazing! Do it!

Great reaction and comments! It’s become one of my favourite tracks to listen to, and I’m glad that people like you are lending their ears to it, even though they have to get over the way they’re used to hearing this classic tune. I love the jazz and the funk in this, as in so many other Dirty Loops tunes! And Cory Wong and his horns giving it so much special sauce… It would be great if you could listen to/react to “Follow the Light” from the same collab 🔥 I think you’d like that one as well 🙏

That was a great take on the MJ classic. Dirty Loops is just fantastic. The bass player, Henrik Linder is a beast. That slapping technique is a thing of beauty. If you’ve never seen Victor Wooten play bass you should check that out. I’m sure he was an inspiration for Henrik, along with Stanley Clarke who you already know. I just loved this and your reaction was awesome. 🔥

FYI, Cory and horns were recorded in US and Dirty Loops in Sweden!!! Nice reaction! (And the instrument played during the instrumental interlude is a double bell Euphonium!)
@ingmarkronfeldt6174
@ingmarkronfeldt6174 2 года назад
Just to be clear, recorded AND filmed in the USA (Minneapolis, Cory Wong and the brass) and Sweden (Stockholm, Dirty Loops), then edited into a very believable one room. The video editing was done, as usual, by Aron Mellergård (the equally amazing drummer and video editor, it seems). Go Aron! You can see it in the credits, where you can also see that Henrik Linder had a stunt double, Edward Scissorhands. Unfortunately you never get to see him actually play the bass guitar in the video, could have been interesting to see!

Your speaking voice is GLORIOUS! Your reaction to "Next to You" (I think it was that one) on your old channel was one of the first reaction I saw when I went down the rabbit hole a year ago. I've been stuck in it ever since. I had the same sentiment regarding being used to an original version and then hearing them take it and do what they do with it. It's natural IMO to listen initially with a comparative ear, but then you just go with it as it takes on a life of its own. It takes some times getting used to sometimes. At least for me it did. Just about all of the covers they've ever done have that jazzy spin on them. Most are really good. The vocalist's voice is very MJ, and it's also very Stevie. It's also VERY Stokley from Mint Condition. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I've subbed to your channel and looking forward to the variety of genres your channel has to offer.

Wow. Just wow.. I think his voice was so close such a good copy but with his own flare that when they did the attack on the 2nd "thriller" phrase of the chorus or the refrain that it did feel a little odd - kind of like you were listening to Michael with a different back up band? - but they are amazing and I knew that you'd like those horns once I heard them.

Great reaction, since I fully agree with your comments about how good this is (or am I just to ill informed to form my own opinion, maybe?)! Is this it regarding Dirty Loops for now here, or will you maybe Follow the Light (from the same Turbo album, same setup, really good as well, nice brass and bass parts)? Anyhow, thanks!

Man... I felt just like you until I got accumulated to the groove. lol, I listened about 20 times and I am hooked. Let me tell you about me. I am from GARY, INDIANA, and Mike and I went to the same grad school. I use to look in their window when their dad had them practicing. He ran off my miniature butt and I didn't do that again. I went on and did 29yrs in the Army and became an SGM. I still have contact with the brothers and we listened to this via SKIPE, we were emotional. I got to myself and my eyes began to sweat because Mike touched these guys. They let him know they heard him and produced their VERSION of "THRILLER" and its pure creativity. I watch people's reactions and I say to the screen, let it happen stop prolonging the ear sex. It's gonna happen to you. I was molested with this creativity you will be as well, let the video play. lol, I have dry humor but that's me. LOVE YOU M.J. old friend. (sniff)

@@fiddlestix3025 I learned that Jackson's relatives (Cousins) played this at Jackson's private honor party in GARY, INDIANA! I was shocked when Jackie Jackson told me. Didn't think it got that far or loved to that point. I guess the group did the damn thing, huh? lol

You're absolutely right about that hook. We , or so so many of us have heard this on the radio and that video may have as many plays, it is epic. It's stained in our memories so the difference can be off putting. However; By the interlude I'm sold, and I am familiar with dirty loops, always reinventing and heavy reharmonization is the norm. Thanks for this reaction. Also a big SRV fan. Check out: Stevie Wonder - Contusion As much as we all know Stevie this one song was overlooked by me personally. If you are familiar then I see no value in reaction to it. But if you're not familiar, it's special. ✌️

You need to add a little 80’s and 90’s international New Age genre to your music journey. It’s not all tree hugging, black light incense burning, mellow elevator music as you may think. Try Yanni, “Love is All” sung by Vann Johnson (RIP) who gives probably the most powerful female vocal performance ever. If you do, and are patient during the three minute, mood setting intro featuring a 3,000 year old Armenian daduk (one of my favorites among unknown instruments) I guaranty that you and 99.999% of your listeners 1.) never heard it before; 2.) will wonder why and 3. ) will absolutely love it. Expand your cultural exposure and music pallet at the same time.
