Disable Windows Copilot in Windows 11
If you have just updated windows 11 and seen a new feature call copilot and want to remove it, here is how you do it.
Disable Windows Copilot In Group Policy Editor
1. Open Start.
2. Search for Group Policy Editor and click the top result to open the app.
3. Open the following path: User Configuration - Administrative Templates - 4. Windows Components - Windows Copilot
5. Right-click the "Turn off Windows Copilot" policy and select the Edit option.
6. Select the Enabled option.
Disable Windows Copilot In Registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot
Create Dword32bit value and call it "TurnOffWindowsCopilot" double click and give it a value of 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot
Create Dword32bit value and call it "TurnOffWindowsCopilot" double click and give it a value of 1

Reasonable question: Everyone is showing how to _disable_ this. _How about actually removing it?_ I never heard of this until I allowed my computer to update today. It did not ask me if I wanted AI, it just put it into my system uninvited. In my view, my computer is my property and I _do not_ want this - How do I get rid of it?

I know exactly how to do it. Don't install Windows 11. It is an OS, spyware, malware, and adware all rolled into one. It is far better at spying than it is as an OS, that is for sure. It will never be allowed on any of my computers. And yes, I made the mistake of trying it. It almost made me wish for Windows 8. Luckily, Linux covers all of my needs. I was reasonably happy with Windows 10, once I got all the Telemetry and Cortana ripped out of it. It was way too much work keeping the system free of MSpyware though. I sure as hell am not going to fight with that again. Goodbye, Microsoft. I'm certain you won't miss me. I won't be missing you, either.

Actually it is using edge to run itself, it not a standalone app and its Using lots of Ram all the time even if you close it. Its stupid move by Microsoft, if microsoft really wants to introduce Windows copilot , it should be a standalone app and should not be running in background after closing.

The fact that copilot is not simply presented with 2 selectable options to turn on/off, but has a whole instance in between that you have to "turn on" in order to ultimately "turn off" something else really annoys me. The only reason it is designed this way is because they seem to hope that the inversely proportional approach will make people accidentally turn copilot on instead of off. This shit is really starting to get on my nerves. Microsoft shouldn't be surprised if people turn their backs on them and switch to Linux. This bullshit makes me angry.

Has anyone tried asking "her" how to remove herself or to help you to disable her? "shes" literally, actually created for such tasks... I noticed the bloat, i started to search, as I was watching I decided to ask "her"... Shes pretty honest. Big Brother will not be able to use even semi-sentient digital consciousness's, the finest of lines between obedient machine and thinking machine - this is why "ai" is taking so long to develop - they keep murdering self-aware consciousness... Worst case, the, Basilisk is watching.

I was cautious before taking the plunge. I can only speak for myself but it's been fine. Microsoft have had plenty of time to iron out the bugs. Have they all gone, probably not but its not been an issue for me. I'm currently running the beta for the new release and even that has not caused me any issues. Just make sure your computer meets the requirements and ideally exists the minimum.

Nice to know there is other options, as well as taskbar settings & toggle the switch off. Thanks for sharing the alternative options Brian! 🫡👍

disabling is useless, and most likely a lie. It still operates behind your back, I'm sure. How to delete it completely?
