😢😢😢😢😢😢 it’s getting really bad for so many. I hate how our country is going. Every person should have affordable housing, and basic necessities. The struggle is real. How can anyone afford food, medicine and housing. It shouldn’t be a privilege to live. This breaks my heart. I respect this family, and the frustrations would have me cussing like a sailor too. Families need to come together. It’s obvious no one else will.

When my ex and I first got married, we had to live in an apartment like that. It steals part of your soul everyday. People deserve better.

I read some of these comments after watching this and I just wanted to remind people that we are all sinners. This gentleman’s ability to open his life and home, the love for his family and their returned love was beautiful. Big Super’s patience and understanding as always is something we could all strive for. Don’t judge yourself or me by my past because I nor you continue to live there anymore. Blessings to all.

Slumlords exists in every freaking state. This man's personality and ability to be honest and open in sharing his home, grievances and life experiences are really appreciated. He made me chuckle a few times. I'm glad he hold the slumlords accountable by cussing their ass out. A damn shame that POS apartment is priced far more than the average 3/4 bedroom 2 bath brick home with yard and garage in my state.

You can clean the cabinets. IT would be fine. But overall that apartment is worth about $600 per month. If wiring is exposed call the Township. Or the County.

I lived in these apartments back in the mid 80s . It was called Villa Hermosa back then but now it’s called The Fransiscan I think. It was rough when I lived there over 30 years ago with drug dealers hanging out and peeing under the stairwells. It doesn’t seem to have gotten any better since. Same with the Tamarak Gardens apartments next door. That whole neighborhood needs to be cleaned up. Everyone deserves to live in a clean, safe place. Nobody should have to live like that just because they’re low income.

Oooo-weeeee!! I was homeless for many years and I looked up to anyone who had their ish together to the point of having an apartment! I just couldn’t get it together. And I was homeless for around 7 years!!! Just out there living in cars and getting motel rooms on good days, and on really bad days God would lead me to someone who had a home and could patch me up. It’s all about perspective. I won’t ever judge a book by its cover. I won’t judge a person’s character by their current circumstances. ❤❤❤ People who have little??? They usually have little because they give what they have to someone else. The generosity of people in poverty is on a different level. It’s generosity of the heart because there isn’t always a lot else to share.

All people are vulnerable but the disabled are the victims. It’s a crying shame that people now can’t have a decent place for them to live. People need to stop thinking about themselves and start having compassion for others like this. I hope someone sees this and helps them ❤

It's a double edge sword. If the city closes the apartments for improvements, all of these people will be homeless.

You can clean your oven with oven cleaner and caulk your bathroom and clean your cabinet and lay contact paper they just to lazy to do these things but I do feel it's the landlord responsible for plumbing and broken things in the apt.

These weekly living spots are almost like check advance shops that charge enormous amounts of fees and interest. You pay extra for services that you would not be qualified for. $1500-$1700/mo for that spot is insane.

I grew up in that neighborhood. I remember when they weren’t even there! They were originally built for military families! That only lasted a few years. They started going downhill in the eighties. At one time they had a mini police office in there just to keep it safer. The whole area is a dangerous place to be in! I have a lot of stories about that area!

I started to believe… but even a slumlord cannot allow you to move in without a smoke detector. Nice vid. Can we have a follow up from the management point of view? That would make it fair journalism. I have some questions. One, my boy Compton there was homeless in another vid. Not a problem, but wondering what was brung in to the unit. Number 2, who all is on the lease? I’m wondering g this as well. I would not pay rent under these conditions. It seems more logical Compton moved in with these folks recently, and the unit was already not cared for. Facts for this logic….. 1. Does not know how long he lived there. 2. Does not know the address. 3. Does not know the rent amount. 4. Sleeps in living room. All is well, if he is a new roommate. But I wonder if they all really moved in to an apartment looking like this.

I wonder what happens if the land lord does attempt to fix things. Obviously there's a lot to fix. There's no way anyone could fix that apartment without moving every one out. It's too small a place for 4 people (two with chairs) . I'm guessing that this is an issue that doesn't get addressed. So you want it fixed. Where do you go? It's not up to the land lord to move you out and care for you while they fix the place up. That should be done between tenents. Or if it's bad enough closed down due to inhabitability. Either way you cannot live there while the fixin' is going on. Both those gentle men should be in ada compliant living situations. My co worker once was renting for section 8 and she had to do everything from change lightbuilbs to turn off water when the washinig machine leaked to building ramps and installing garage door openers (because they couldn't lift the garage door manually). These tenents reported a washing machine leak and then left it like, continuing to wash clothes, that flooding the garage because they couldn't even turn the water off or stop washing clothes, before she got there later that day. My friend got dinged by section 8 housing for the cover being removed from the bottom of the refrigerator. she asked the renters why it wasn't on the fridge and they said it fell off and they never put it back up. So she got dinged. Now some of these things can be handled by any home owner. I bet between those two grown men they can fix that toilet. But they choose not to. Between 3 adults in that home they could clean the oven. But they choose not to. I've had to live with used appliances most of my life as well. You still have to clean them. So while I feel for them not being able to afford a better place, they are not 100% victims. They can clean, they can do minor repairs. Hopefully while they are living there, they are on a list for assisted ADA compliant housing.

This is why you have to be mindful of how you live your life and treat people along the way…..

I'm sorry for his situation and others. I started working when I was 15 yrs old, always worked, for years I worked 2 jobs. Some of these people never worked a real job to pay taxes or SS. Now, we pay . I'm 66 and still chose to go to work everyday. Party, pimp, deal drugs, gangs.....we pay.

Feel for them. Nobody deserves to live like that. They need to call the health department to tell them of whats going on. Mold is so dangrous in your home. Just breathing it in can really harm you. I live in low income apartments and ours feel like paradise compared to this and ours are not good believe me. But at least they try to fix issues we have. Damm shame. I hope things change for them.

You turn on the bathroom lights at night, and the roaches just scattered. The size of VWs . Crazy. If I was him, I would have somebody go buy some contact paper to put down the the shelves and cupboards. They could at least use them.

In Arizona, landlords are required to provide habitable premises for living and must make requested repairs within 10 days of receipt of notice. If they do not, the tenant can make the repairs themselves and deduct the costs from future rent payments as long it can be fixed for less than $300 or half of the monthly rent.

Landlords lower the water pressure just to save a few bucks. I have the same problem in my building and I'm on the top floor. When I first moved in the shower water pressure was near the middle of the tub. Now it's 6 inches from the drain. All my neighbors on my floor are having the same problem. It's also effecting toilet flushing.

You really need to start naming these apartment complexes AND their owners and managers. Start naming names so those of us who know how can write letters and report these places to the right authorities. I love poor people so much. I am literally predjudice against rich people. Like it's something I have to actively work on. I grew up surrounded by wealth on all sides and when I left home at 18 to go to uni, I became an advocate for the poor so as to do my "community duty" for my resume etc. (How rich people think.) But when I got involved, and saw how these people are treated at the hands of greedy rich corporations, I began to hate wealth in all its forms. It's difficult for me to be kind to rich people. It's wrong I know, but look at how awesome these people are!!! Their hearts are golden! Rich people's hearts are shallow, entitled, and clueless.

I took care of my landlord I cost him thousands. Read along take pictures, send a USPS Certified letter with all problems in mail with a receipt. Send it to apartment complex, County, city, health department give them 30 days to start fixing things. If not take them to court. Exposed wiring, outlets, no wheel chairs accessibility are violations. But keep in mind when I did this I had already moved everything out. My landlord had almost 30 violations and it took 1.5 years to fix it! My landlord said he was going to sue me this is when I sent certified mail with a receipt to these officals. It shut him down!

Other than the usage of the Lords name in vain. I understand feeling sick to my stomach.

Put everything in writing keep copies and call the city out. It is free they work for us. They will come out inspect and hold these so called landlords accountable. They signed the lease just like you and be held accountable just as are you for your rent. They do have to follow the rules as well. The city will tell them to fix it or face a fine and they will come back to make sure they fixed it or ENFORCE the fines. All free just remember put it all in writing and keep copies no matter old school or emails. Much love and best wishes.
