I agree, lack of custom shape is pretty much the #1 drawback of fibreglass pools. Although, they're probably more expensive up front than steel-wall, vinyl-liner pools.

That's not true! We custom build any shape, any size fiberglass pool on-site. We have even built them on the rooftop of bar, houes, apartment complex. Our pools do not come off of a mold. We build basd on each individual clients needs. We can build bigger fiberglass glass pools than what can be done with a mold. Are largest so far was 75x100 12ft deep. Anything shape a guinte can do we can do too! We have even done a few in Texas!

Isnt custom build more expensive than premade out of catalog?

All depends on how elaborate you go. Since we can build things pre-made can't mimic it could be more for sure. But from what I hear from customers we are pretty comparable to 1 pieces if you have us build one similar to what your looking at with the drop ins. You do get a better quality and warranty so I guess they like that so it offsets the price difference.

Question do any fiberglass pools come with a swim up bar?

I have fiberglass pool and it's in need of a new gel coat soon because of osmosis, so they do need to be emptied sanded and re gelcoated. not sure how long they last before this needs doing as we bought the house with the pool and have no idea when it was installed

Hi, I’m having problems with my fiber glass pool discoloration from water line down. Turning white and patchy can you advice what could be problem and will color come back?

I’d say the biggest disadvantage is the cost and then the second customization.

Any ground movement will Crack the pool.

okay: [1] You can't use trichlor in a fiberglass pool, you're really stuck with using A LOT of liquid chlorine. [2] Can't use anything abrasive on fiberglass - so it's almost impossible to remove calcium deposits around the water line. [3] It can be risky to drain a fiberglass pool. So you can't easily dilute stabilizer buildup.

Finally... I am looking to put in a pool and every builder is pushing concrete. I keep asking them why I wouldn't want a fiberglass pool with all the many many benefits and all I get is the same answer giving me this video. That they are customizable. Thank you for any more information. I still don't think those things you listed outweigh the benefits but at least there's something to be said.
