DISAGREEMENT WITH CHARISMATIC CHRISTIANS / Pastor Bob's Coffee Break

Dear Pastor Bob: I have been trying to dialogue with Charismatic Christians about some abuses that often occur in many Charismatic and Pentecostal Churches. But I am met with a lot of resistance. They don’t want to hear anything I have to say. I am not trying to belittle anyone, but I do have some concerns. Whenever I attempt a dialogue with these people, they even accuse me of having a demon. I am also told that I have too much unbelief. How do I dialogue with people like that? Shouldn’t Christians have a desire to discuss spiritual matters? Do you have any thoughts on this?

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. When a discussion gets starts to get heated, no one is listening anyway. It is best to stop and move on. Proverbs 15:1 states that a soft answer turns away wrath.

"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little..." Isaiah 28 is pretty powerful in my opinion. Talks about pride being something that makes us fall backward. Baby steps are better than no steps. 😉

Unfortunately I have family who basically believe that you’re going to Hell if you don’t believe the exact same way they do; for example, if you don’t believe all homosexuals go to Hell, then not only are you not a “real Christian,” but you’re also going to Hell… According to them. At the end of the day, I think we should all just unite over what was done on the cross, and understand you’re not going to agree with everyone. Christian or not.

So you go to hell if you do something. The other side of the coin is that they are going to heaven because they do NOT do something like engage in a type of behavior. This is NOT Salvation through Jesus Christ but it is a trust in their own works and "goodness". Salvation is NOT by works at all. Henceforth, it is THEY that have purchased a one way ticket to Hell despite all the activity, behavior, and declarations otherwise.

believing differently is for me is not the issue, its the objectively false teaching/prophecies and self appointed apostles/prophets of ministries like bethel, hillsongs, elevation worship and countless others, we are to stay away from false doctrine, not hating them

My belief system closely aligns with the Calvary Chapel "Movement". Henceforth, I am Charismatic but not Pentecostal. After getting and only receiving the rebuke that you are "possessed by a demon", "have a spirit of unbelief", "have sin in your life", or if they even have a "special revelation directly from the Holy Spirit for you". Know that you are dealing with a mindless and thoughtless zombie and treat it as such. It is not nor will it ever have the ability to be your friend. This overall issue goes for so-called fundamentalists and other groups as well.
