The most superest lock in the world in its most inexpensive implementation. And yet... its executed soooooo well.
Anyway, this is how to take one apart and so forth. Good luck!

When I’m considering buying a knife, I always check RU-vid for videos about the knife - especially disassembly videos. I like to see what makes them tick. Thank you, sir, for your excellent Finn Wolf video.

I hate disassembling, Thank You for doing it .

This video really helped me! Thank you for making it, however and reassembling I noticed that the screws barely stuck to my magnet. I have a very strong neo magnet. I use to hold screws onto the Allen wrench. These ones seemed barely Ferris at all. Can you explain that?

That backlocks indent is definately odd. Not sure if it's a defect, or what. What's also interesting to me is the scales seem to have impressions(?) on the inside of where backlock end meets the blade, and in the center there as well (though those might just be caused via the injection molding process for the handle scales. P.S. Whilst I don't care for Cold Steels "tacticool" marketing, I'd remised if I didn't say that their triad backlock is quite nice. Just wish Cold Steel used better/stronger steels in their blades. Makes me wonder if any knife maker has recreated their own blade and put it in a Cold Steel's folder. (like remaking the Recon 1's blade, but in D2 or something)

I've seen reblades for the 940 and PM2, but never thought of it for a Recon.

Looks like the white washers are plastic. Not sure what the purpose is of having two washers per side. Never seen that before. I guess there must be a reason. Maybe because there's no liners in the handle. Just plastic panels.

I’ve always assumed it’s just to provide space for low tolerances. If your machining is just a bit off between the pivot and the handle, sometimes that tiny little sliver is enough to fix it without having to pay to redo the schematics. No real idea, that’s just what I’ve thought.

To add to what Dave said; I also think it's cause it helps with providing less friction against the washer, blade, and liner when pivoting open/closed, providing a smoother action. By having both the metal and teflon washer beside one another they sorta help provide less friction overall, as it's not just a single washer wedged between the metal blade and a liner.

Are there any different clips that you can use on this knife?

Not that I personally have tested, sorry.

Is there a way to change the thumb stud
@DaveLikesKnives
@DaveLikesKnives Год назад
@@kainoa7129 again, not that I know of. Any thumbstuds on most any knife can be removed because they’re just screwed into each other. Without knowing what size these are I wouldn’t know if they could be switched with studs of a different style. If you find the answer to these questions, please let me know so I can help the next person to ask me.
