The amount of trouble I will be able to avoid due to your simple kindness of putting the time and energy into recording this seemingly trivial task is priceless and I love ya for saving me! ❤

Man you are just awesome, all this info will help me fix my Zippo dual torch insert. I dropped my Zippo in a puddle of water and ever since the flame hasn't been steady and way too long. Subscribed Cheers Mate

Dang ! I can't believe they hid that screw so well under the latch. I never would have guessed. Almost threw mine away. Mine needed a new hose piece for some reason. I don't see how that little hose could possibly get enough wear to need replacement but apparently it does. Mine is working like a champion now. Thanks buddy !!
@thesnakepit8708
@thesnakepit8708 2 года назад
The hoses dry out from exposure to the butane and they crack at the ends causing air to be sucked into the fuel making the lighter either have the flame surge or not light at all. This is why I would recommend replacing the hose anytime that you take the insert apart being as you damage the hose end when ever a person disconnects it from the metal fitting.

Holy crap. Mine was the double flame version, and reassembly took friggin' *HOURS* because one hose was extremely finicky and difficult to re-attach. Worse still, because I had neither a spanner wrench nor a sharp pair of tweezers, I had to use a pair of seam rippers like chopsticks for the nozzles -- probably wouldn't have taken that long if I had the proper tools. If it weren't for this video though, I probably would've just flat out broken mine. Very helpful. Thanks a lot!

I had the slightest issue where the spark would happen too early. Bent the little pronged part upward. Works flawlessly now. Thanks!

Much like a sparkplug for your car's engine the gap from electrode (wire) to the ground has to be close to correct to operate properly. I always light the torch set the flame height then adjust the space from the wire to it's ground until the lighter ignites every time or close to it.

Hey! Had a guy take apart my butane insert today cause it wasn’t accepting fuel or lighting. He put it back together but it now still won’t light. He said one of the orings was catching on the adjustment screw. Why isn’t it lighting? Are the rings needed to make it light? Confused as to why it won’t light. The insert it is less than a year old.

Holy crap! My dowel pin did not want to come out and I basically thrashed the other end of it! Would have been nice to let ppl know that its one way in and out. One side is normal and rounded/ small while the other is bigger and has teeth on it to fit into grooves on one of the "dowel stands". By the time I realize that I had already wedged the dowel into the other stand . It's ok tho because this thing has given me nothing but problems anyways

Does anyone know if i can make the pezio spring softer? In the rain my thumb just slips off the ignite button, why is the button angled down anyway? Not very ergo design, thanks if you know how to soften pezio in advance 👍

Just pissed with my dual flame one for an hour. My piezo wire had broken off inside and was no longer striking. We came to the part where you need to get both gas tubes back on and I decided to fire it in the trash where it belongs........ my suggestion would be (unlike most fantastic zippo products) just plan on using your warranty if you buy a dual torch......

I have a question What should I do when the electric spark that ignites the butane just stops working is there a battery I can replace or what exactly
@thesnakepit8708
@thesnakepit8708 Год назад
its not a battery its a electrical charge caused by pressure on a rock of sorts .. you can find them in bbq lighters at the dollar store

thanks, I'll try it on my zippo double torch which doesn't give off sparks

There are BBQ lighters sold by Dollar tree that have the same size ignitor if you're looking for a replacement. But most any BBQ that should fit and have a longer wire so you can trim it to your needed length. (Not Bic brand)

The pin does have a head on one end you can't really see it without a magnifier but it's there. Try pushing it out from the opposite side it should move more freely.

Hey do you know if there is anything I could do for the double butane insert having uneven flame height (the jet closest to the button is about half the height of the other one) i tried adjusting the flame height and all that stuff and don't yet want to take the whole thing apart
@snake4648
@snake4648 2 года назад
Try new tubing at equal lengths if that doesn't work there is either damage to or a clog in the valve. What has most likely happened is you have overheated the rubber lines and one has partially collapsed. Either that or it's possible that there is something that got into the nozzle. I would say try to blow out the nozzles first then the replacement of the lines then if all else fails check the valving

@@snake4648 so for a bit it was shooting cyan-ish bubble shaped kinda flame and then it went back to doing the same old. There are 2 rubber tubes ones transparent and the other one black. The jet attached w the black one is the weaker one
@snake4648
@snake4648 Год назад
@@IItsIgor if you could reproduce the "shooting cyan-ish bubble shaped flame" in a 3 or 4 second video so I can see what it is doing . I believe what you are describing is what happens the first couple lights after a refill when the butane is still hot from being compressed into the tank of the lighter ,( I know some of you will question that "hot" statement because when you fill your lighters you feel the coldness, allow me to explain .. when you fill the tank your fluid is a gas and it is being compressed into the tank when a gas is compressed be it oxygen, nitrogen, and even butane, the compressing of molecules creates heat the coldness you feel is when the gas exscapea from a small high pressure location to a larger less pressurized area as the gas expands rapidly this creates the sensation of cold .. it is how every air-conditioning system works this is the same with all gases .. now back to what I was saying the gas is hot from being compressed and this plus the over pressurizing during a full creates even higher pressures and when you light the lighter immediately after filling without first allowing excess pressure and heat to disparate you will get what I call spitting from the nozzle which is actually liquid butane escaping from over pressurization .. after filling any butane lighter let it rest for 5 or 6 minutes to settle you actually can damage the valve by having liquid butane flowing the valve that is only meant for gaseous butane to flow through it .. I would tend to believe that is what has happened here there is a very tiny puck it looks like a small disk one side is usually white the other black or blue the white side is a permeable cloth like material the other (colored) side is more like a rubber this is sandwiched between the bottom of the gas flow valve and a flat ended side opposite of the adjuster on the flame height adjustment screw this is how the adjustment controls how much gas (butane) is allowed into the flow valve I would tend to believe that this small puck has been damaged in some way. It won't be something that is visible to the naked eye seeing as this puck is maybe 1.5 to at most 2 millimeters in diameter the puck is nearly imperceivable let alone being able to visually see any damage .. that's where I would go with this diagnosis this part is not available to the general public that I know of and it's not found in standard lighters you will need to remove it from a torch lighter so if like me you have a convenient store nearby that sells 2 or 3 dollar cheapy disposable torches that is where I would go looking for the part in question .. sorry for being so long winded I will try to get another video up to explain all this visually in the next couple days or so

Oh dear lord please make this finally be a video about how the piezo sparker gets replaced, lol. Because I will not buy it when replacing the piezo sparker sucks balls. Couldn't even find Zippo piezo crystal sparkers, I expected there to be some, since Zippo also sells flints. Soooo what are you supposed to do when the piezo has worn out? 🤔 I guess I will replace my normal insert with the orange flame one then, because that one has flints. #sad Good video for showing the insides though! 🫡
