Disaster! Starliner NEW DELAYED Again. Pls, Swap Astronauts on Dragon, NASA?
This is truly unacceptable!
As we forecast, Boeing's Starliner return just delays once again!
In today's episode of Alpha Tech, let's explore what has continued to happen with this embarrassing spacecraft.
What have NASA and Boeing officials said about Starliner's issues? Have they provided any useful solutions, or are they just making excuses for their poor management?
Why not swap the astronaut's return on the Dragon spacecraft?
Disaster! Starliner NEW DELAYED Again. Pls, Swap Astronauts on Dragon, NASA?
On June 18, NASA and Boeing held what was considered to be the final review meeting for the first flight of the Starliner spacecraft. The meeting lasted over an hour, and despite the roundabout words from the officials, we can conclude that NASA and Boeing will need an additional four days to review all available data on the performance of the Starliner spacecraft before allowing it to return to Earth.
Disaster! Starliner NEW DELAYED Again. Pls, Swap Astronauts on Dragon, NASA?
This means the new schedule for Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore - who arrived at the space station on June 6 for an estimated week-long visit - will not return home before June 26.
Well, the schedule has been extended once again. If you recall, Starliner also faced other delays on June 18 and June 22.
Given the continuously postponed timelines, do you think Starliner will be able to bring the astronauts back to Earth on June 26? To be honest, it’s all just a matter of “maybe” or “potentially” rather than anything “certain.”

"This is not a failure, it's a learning experience." Like Challenger was in 1986? Seven astronauts died then thanks to NASA's stubbornness and mismanagement. The best data they can get right now would result from bringing Starliner back EMPTY, to SAFELY see how the thrusters perform. Otherwise, an additional 4-day delay just buys NASA time to get 2 coffins ready, plan a memorial service, and figure out who to blame when the Starliner hits the fan.

They do not have space suits or seats on Dragon to return home. They would have to send up a dragon with SpaceX suits for the two astronauts on a Dragon that has open seats. Balancing the using of Starliner vs un trained and tested equipment sent up in an "emergency launch" have to be part of the consideration.

If SpaceX had any anywhere near the amount of problems that Starliner has, that flight never would’ve gone up in the first place! Apparently NASA can get a free pass with the FAA where SpaceX definitely cannot! But, speaking frankly, are the astronauts now questioning whether they want to fly that thing back or not? I see the same thing happening in my refrigeration trade. Now that Heat Pumps are the latest and greatest appliances to have in a home, every electrician, plumber, solar panel installer, and even drywallers are trying to jump on this bandwagon with no training or experience that would qualify them. They get in through the loopholes in government trying to promote clean energy and for those politicians it is more about patting themselves on the back. So, these unqualified people get some basic training and convince the politicians that they are up to the task. The gov't gives them the okay, and those losers hack those systems into peoples homes, and the next thing you know, six months to a year later, these homeowners have a big nightmare on their hands. The electricians and the drywallers gave up the ghost when they found they could not fix these systems when they went down, and they could not stay in business anyways, once the gov't rebates for homeowners ended. The politicians who were patting themselves on the back just a year or so ago, are now running for cover, as the planned new green energy power plants for those regions keep getting put on the backburner. Essentially, many people wind up having coal fired Heat Pump Systems. Some areas of the country have Nuclear power, and other greener forms of energy production capability and that is much better. Soon the homeowners realize that electricity rates are getting higher and higher, and they wonder if they will regret getting rid of their fossil fuel heating appliances. So now here we are... Back slapping politicians and other unqualified people working in sectors they don't belong in. It is likely that Boeing is a union company and they can't even get rid of the unqualified people by the time they figure out who they are.

RIP crew, should never left the pad with those problems and they are hell bent on returning to Earth even knowing any added problem with the thrusters and He will mean the death of the crew in an uncontrolled reentry. That trash made it to the station on pure luck with those leaks, not just making it hard to control but causing an uncontrolled thrust factor as well. Would be like trying to fly a four engine jet with one jet on and turned sideways and another disabled. (Without the ability to kill the bad jet) The mission first called for three crew and they cut back to two to reduce load. Boeing using old off the shelf parts is part of the problem that over 20 years may look new but has seals that has hardened or micro cracks develop. It is like rebuilding an engine with gaskets still in the box that were made decades before your classic car was even made. The old 350 blocks were used for decades and if you found a store of parts from the 60's and were using them to rebuild an mid 80's classic or older those seals and gaskets are not going to hold.

It's like these channels and their audience have all learned together with video content and many of the ideas put forth by the audience. NASA made a brief mention of the fact the the problem the thrusters had in docking were software related as the system was not seeing the thrusters as operating correctly and shutting them off. That's a much different problem than they keep bringing up. Software has been an issue from day one and in many ways it can be harder to solve than hardware. In any case I suspect that Boeing hasn't been able to figure out why the software is misbehaving. That means they don't have faith in how the thrusters will perform during reentry. You can play around some in the docking maneuver but once reentry starts you don't have that luxury. If you lose thrusters in reentry you mostlikely become a crispy critter. Thus the hum hawing around. If Boeing didn't detect the software problem in testing it's almost impossible for them to figure it out while it's in space and be sure they have it working. As it stands now any undocking is a coin toss and we don't even know what coin we are tossing. This mess could endanger the ISS as well as the astronauts. And they can't even be sure it's safe to undock the capsule and get it away from the ISS remotely. This is being between a rock and a hard place and NASA should have never had this crewed mission. This has went from bad design to cover our butts at any cost.

Instead of burning up the evidence, NASA should remove a faulty valve from starliner and bring it back to see what is going wrong, so yes fly back on a Dragon. It is safer anyway.

Anyone know if spacex has a dragon and booster ready to go. These things aren't like cars that are sitting out in parking lot just to hop in and go. Pick someone up at the mall.

It would not be hard for SpaceX or even Russia to get a capsule together in a timely enough fashion for a rescue. The biggest issue is training for them since they've only trained on Starliner and maybe soyuz if they're lucky.

It doesn’t even have to be a Dragon although there is already one at ISS. There is also a Soyuz docked too. Not sure if it’s a cargo ship though.

It's not worth repair at this point. IF they becomes totally incurable, they need to try to get it back to earth or park send it to far outer space. Enough money wasted.

DEI= Boeing's demise
@oldfarthacks
@oldfarthacks Месяц назад
The problems started when Boeing bought out Douglas and then kept the failed Douglas management team instead of the Boeing one. Boeing has, since then has been driven by the bean counters instead of the engineering staff. Then cap on the DEI junk that is mandated by the government and you have this sort of mess.

this space craft is an embarrassment, it is a waste of tax payers money, it is an Edsel, it is costly, how can you be a manager of a team when you cannot have the background to understand the teams goals and direction, Elon Musk is 100% correct as in when you become a manager you have to to be an expert in your field before you can direct others to complete a task, you are going to get those astronauts killed by trying to fly a costly, unsafe designed, pile of junk back to earth then say to the news OH we have to analyze the data to understand what happened but they knew the risks of the flight, Please do the correct thing send up Dragon to retrieve the astronauts to bring them home to their families, put your ego in check, admit that you designed a unsafe vehicle, have the guts, the courage to admit your mistakes, put the astronauts lives first before ego and profit

Boeing and NASA did a rush job to launch the star liner. Epic Fail. So Boeing has a cook doing an engineering job. Wow

I think it was extremely negligent on NASA and Boeing's part to send Starliner ANYWHERE with astronauts on it.

Boeing should ask Space~X for help. That way we get the 2 options NASA wants. Would Space~X even help if asked? Maybe Boeing should sell off this portion of their company. But who would buy? My mom had a saying… “If someone poops 💩 in the middle of the room, would you walk over and put your finger in it?” I honestly believe that’s where we are with Boeing’s starliner program.
