Hi guys just started watching your latest video, always look forward to them. On our motorhome boiler if it’s being used constantly we were advised to drain some water from the boiler so that it can restore the air cushion in it. If that’s what is needed just turn the water pump off, open nearest tap to boiler till no more water comes out, close tap, drain hot water from boiler for 5-10 seconds & then close off again, turn water pump back on & open tap again till water comes out steadily. That’s all that’s needed. Hope this helps

I had Rosetta Stone when I was trying to learn German! I then moved to Germany and did a B2 at language school and was completely out of my depth. I moved working and living there but you never get to speak German as they all speak English.

Sorry to hear about your plight back home. Similar thing happened to us back in 2013 during a trip around Spain, water pipe burst in the roof space, fortunately we'd arranged a member of the family to check periodically, whole downstairs thoroughly soaked. (bungalow) Keep smiling!!!

Our toilet mechanism has fallen to bits a couple of times. We normally put the hot water and heating on as we need it. If we’re on hook-up we’ll leave the hot water on most of the time. Not had the dump valve drip before 🤞

Good luck with your ceiling we have just had ours repaired after a small flood £900 that said we had the whole ceiling relined and plastered. Your new viewers may have come over from the field View episode .

In my motorhome I run the water heater two or three times a day. Last one just half an hour before bed. Temps keep the dump valve happily closed and more economical on the gas usage too.

Hi guys! Hope you're keeping well and not too dispirited with all the repair issues. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. We had a similar issue with our lounge ceiling around 15 years ago, 3 weeks before Christmas. A complete nightmare but it resolved itself. Pleased to hear that the fur babies are well and enjoying themselves. In terms of French I bought a Linguaphone set which was very good. Need to get the French back up to scratch for next year. Hi guys, as for the hot water we only put it on when we need it. But I know what you mean about it dumping all the boiler when it cold . But we leave the heating on tick over to stop that if it helps. Cheers

There is brass round pressure release valve next to the boiler, give it a few taps with a hammer. They get blocked up. Regards Nick

I can completely empathise as I hate water leaks and would've wanted to go dashing home too. We plan on leaving our girls in the family home when we get our van too, food for thought 😂😂

2nd series of KIN is now on BBC I-Player and it is superb. Highly recommended. Sorry to hear of your problems at home. We had were in our Motorhome in Rome when we got a frantic phone call from neighbour Gary to tell us that our loft water tanks had burst and brought down nearly all of the ceilings - £30,000 worth of damage. All insured and Gary dealt with the Insurers when they came to inspect whilst we were making all the phone calls. But there wasn’t much more we could do so we just took another 14 days to get back home. We then spent 3 months in the Motorhome by the side of our house whilst the repairs were done. Hey ho, so the moral is don’t rush back.

Hi, please could you tell me how you attach the dog leads to the wheel? I’ve tried using the spiral hook that normally goes into the ground without much success.. many thanks

Most of our trips about 16 days but from when we set off to when we return the hot water running on gas 24/7 ( except ferry )We have rupture proof stainless pigtail and crash regulator. Fridge on also and 6kg gas lasts about 10-12 days and we never hook up.. Mind you winter in Scotland with heating on 6kg about 3 days. Do not think leaving boiler on causes any extra pressure . Guess it was grit in the dump valve .

Never claimed for over 25 yrs had high winds that blew our gable ends off. Because the winds weren't over 55mph, only 45mph, they said no..😢

"they're not really meant to be lived in full-time" 🤣 today is day 686 in ours, with only about a dozen AirBnB nights along the way 🤣 it's actually been pretty painless. We leave our Truma combi boiler on all the time, mainly because if it doesn't get used for 24 hours, it requires a hard reset. Our first winter we learnt that the hard way, I think we had to do 11 hard resets in a row one freezing morrning before it finally lit and we could use the heating! Something to do with a solenoid valve apparently... never managed to repeat the issue in front of a repair shop and they wanted to charge us heaps to take it out and test it. Never had a problem since we just left the hot water on full time. Our list of repairs is ever growing. I feel your pain. The only one that got fixed in a hurry was the toilet blade / trapdoor thing - emergency!! Anyway, best of luck with the odd jobs! Our current mission is trying to find a garage to do our first motor service, no one wants to touch it as it's too tall and too heavy and the Renault dealer locally hasn't got a spot for two months..... and we don't want to stay here for that long. My final comment is 'good luck with the French visa' that's been an almighty cluster f&^k for us... we've only managed to get one visa actually issued (we're in to year three now), last years got issued three days after it expired. Give us a yell if you need any advice on that front - or anything else for that matter - I think we've covered all the bases. If you have to choose a prefecture to 'live in' do NOT choose Department 50 (Manche Prefecture in St Lo, Normandy). Also, start the driving license process as early as possible - if you Brits have to get it changed (as Aussies, we had a year to get it done). Getting a visa is a good idea, we have one for the US, that allows a 6 month stay, those last 10 years, can you get an EU wide visa, or are they country specific? The most faff about getting visas is the embassy visit, certainly for the US anyway. As long as there’s no water still leaking those boys will survive the “disaster “without Mum n Dad.

Enjoying your spain trip, I'm not big on Spain (except for wine) but your travels have maybe opened some options. I'd probably go back, I prefer to do jobs myself. We holiday let our uk place and made it simple - all electric, I prefer a shower over a bath on 1st floor, showers on ground floor. With our van, Iwhen cold overnight, I put heating on or water before bed, switch off when in bed, that's usually hot enough then to prevent a frost dump. We just put it on for showers, off after. Good luck with the house issue.

We feel your pain in regards to your leak and wanting to shoot off home but you did the right thing, we was away about four days out of five weeks once and we got a call from our friends and neighbours that our guttering had collapsed and was hanging from the house 🏠, as like you I thought it needs me lolol because of course no one else can deal with a problem only me lolol, anyway as like you our children was called and they just sorted it (all without me lolol ), personally i think you guys deal with issues calm and logical, ie dog, step, lock and boiler etc, personally we only heat water use it and then switch it off and turn it on again as needed, and as you say as good as these systems are in moho its not a house system, got to smile at the dogs enjoying themselves on the beach, anyway another enjoyable vlog keep them coming 👍, oh yes great electric frying pan I've never seen one before.

As a qualified domestic plumber I know hot water systems within homes have temperature and pressure safety devices to relief the build up of water pressure within the system if the temperature stats fail to prevent over heating. I’ve never worked on the systems within campervans/motorhomes, but they obviously have overflow pipes connected to prevent the build up of pressure. You could have a temperature stat problem preventing the hot water system from shutting down the heat source when the hot water has reached the desired temperature. If you have also noticed your hot water has been getting above the normal temperature, this could be a clear indicator a stat is the cause of your problems. As you have stated, opening the relief valve will have reduced the pressure build up and stopped the dripping water from the overflow pipe. Only using the boiler for short periods when required for hot water would also prevent the build up of pressure.

Ordered my electric pan, thanks for the quick update. I'm going to Spain for my 90 days in March to volunteer at an animal sanctuary inland from Alicante. They rely on volunteers and donations. Barc animal rescue Busot who offer free park up with amenities for a few hours work per day (did I say work ? Help with the animals is not work !)

Hi the leek on the dump valve was probably lime scale from the boiler. Where you have had the boiler on for a long time. I would recommend that you put some descaler through the water when you're not using the motorhome as it will take 24 hours for it to descale it's properly

We set the heating in the van to say 10 C that should stop the water dumping on your water heater, that's what we go anyways when it's bit cold 😎

Oh no, mare! Paul's right though no real benefit of cutting trip short. I would double check that your insurance definitely haven't put it down as a claim. We had it once with our cottage roof, even though we didn't actually go ahead with the claim to fix it, the next renewal not only had that companies price increased loads but the company we actually switch to came back weeks later to say we'd not declared a claim!! (All just BS obvs but a mare). At least your boys have had a life lesson & I'd say a 25% split of the repairs is fair 😂😉 glad your pancakes cheered you up & was it the famous rubic cube from ale hop? 😂 keep enjoying 😎
