THAT MELODIC FLAVOUR. What did you guys make of 'Afterlife (Vol. 1)'? Which track of the 8 is your pick and why? Drop your thoughts in the comments! ⚔️🌈
I'm so proud of all of my friends on this compilation. To see them develop their sound to the point where they can be this influential is just amazing.
Seeing everyone I started being familiar with in around 2017 go on the do big things like Skybreak and Sharks on disciple and you transferring from GarageBand to a professional DAW is actually insane and amazing
@@yeln4tsmusic He gives off the vibe like he works on his records for years before releasing. I mean, his Panorama project has been ongoing for like half a decade
As someone who thought Moment With You was the best off the comp and a massive fan of Ophelia style music, I really appreciate your take on the track. I think a lot of people tend to say a song sucks or that it's bad when they hear a song they don't like instead of saying it's not for them and I think we should really start encouraging this more especially when it comes to art. Your criticism and review of the track just off first listen is really impressive. It's constructive, especially as a non-listener of the sub-genre and you managed to nail lots of the key points Crystal Skies go for in their music being these very feel good, euphoric, heavenly feels and definitely the mix between hard and soft. The things you didn't like sub-genre aside, you did a really good job at explaining (the signature Crystal Skies snare, length of track etc.) Just felt I had to comment that. I was really impressed to say the least.
This entire album was a masterpiece. Was introduced to this genre when I got recommended one of the tracks off of color bass vol. 1 and fell in love with the genre. Edit: Gonna just leave my ranking here... Sakura VIP: This is a beautiful tune. I agree that the percussion is not as impactful. But overall 8.5/10. Moment With You: Been a long-time melodic dubstep fan but I've heard this style so much. Does have enough emotional impact that I enjoy it though. 7/10 Iridescent: H O L Y C R A P B R O. I practically had the same reaction NS had to the power of Virtual Riot playing live. 10/10 Waterfall: I've been grooving to this since the release. 10/10 Soda World: Bubble. 10/10 Rise: The energy this gives off is crazy good. It's not as impactful though but it's still definitely enjoyable. 9.5/10 Opal: My personal favorite off of the album. It's like riddim and chillout had a child. Groovy as heck. 10/10 Snow: Not the best off the album but I'm definitely still able to vibe to it. 6/10
ranking the songs - Sakura VIP - love, love, love. melodic color all around, maybe the percs and stuff aren't as punchy. still amazing though. 8/10. Moment With You - loved this too, but it's kinda generic melodub at this point. very seven lions - horizon/freesol kinda feel. 7/10. Iridescent - addicted to it ever since the preview. absolutely amazing. 10/10. Waterfall - HOLY FUCK THIS IS SO CATCHY AND COLORFUL WTF- i need more skybreak! 11/10. Soda World - CHIME NEVER FUCKING DISAPPOINTS. so bubbly and colorful! 10/10. Rise - holy fuuuuuuuuck ace auraaaaa... so well structured and so, so, so beautiful. absolute banger. 11/10. Opal - sharks went _off_ - colorful riddim type beat, super catchy. i love it. 10/10. Snow - not something i'd vibe to on a daily basis, but it's definitely unique and out there. i'd compare it to mvrda's track on alliance vol 6. 6.5/10.
@@squeezter heck yea dude, he has made teasers for rushdown and stuff too as well as a vid for his you’re gonna love me remix. Incredibly talented person
Hearing that Skybreak track just makes me wish that more artists would experiment in that way in EDM. A lot of styles seem to become stale so quickly, but if unique chords, melodies, and even time signatures can break into EDM and bass music, there will be so much room for creativity and new styles that don’t lose their spark as fast as they have been lately. But I doubt a change that drastic will happen any time soon. However, this comp is still a step in the right direction for bass music I believe
I wasn't the most excited for this compilation at first, but it was certainly worth the full listen. My favorites are from Skybreak, Chime, and Ace Aura. I really liked the sound design and melodic progressions in Skybreak's track. Chime's track was one of the tracks I was originally looking forward to the least, but there were some surprising moments in there that changed my mind. Ace Aura's track has to be my top favorite, as I liked its theme, rhythm and snappiness. I found myself listening to it over and over again. This is one of the better releases I've heard from Disciple this year, and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go after this.
I loved the Zeol and Sharks songs. Zeol's track kind of reminds me of Kotori if they were a melodic producer, and the Sharks tune is hands down one of the best melodic tunes I've ever heard. Production is super clean, and the drops and vocals were just the icing on the cake.
It's been what? three months now? I stilll adore nearly every song on here. I can put this pretty handedly as one of the best compilatioon and melodic reiddim projects I have ever heard. What a brilliant compilation
You don't understand how happy I got hearing Soda World. I have been waiting so long for it to drop since Chime played it in his Subsidia set. Damn he's really the best imo and my favorite. But overall I think everyone brought some great ideas! Really happy with this comp!
My List (1 being my favorite) 😁 1. Iridescent 2. Rise 3. Sakura VIP (beautiful) 4. Opal 5. Waterfall 6. Snow 7. Moments with you 8. Soda World (1-7 were all very good, so it was hard placing them in an order. It should be noted that I didn’t quite enjoy Soda World, which could be due to me not liking Chime. However, he has amazing talent, so I have nothing against him. Just not my style)
Waterfall is one of my favorite tracks of the year. The way that incredible sound design, production, and musicality all come together to support a bright, cohesive idea is grand and gives me hope for future bass music.
This comp was so good. This might be the best comp I've heard this year ngl, not a single bad track on here. I've been listening to chime and ace aura's tracks over and over for the last few days
Rise is DEFINITELYYYY my favorite. It's so happy but in a deep and profound way. It's like going into a war on the clouds or something. It has that completely barbaric style... almost medieval, and the way the beat switches from a trap-ish beat to a standard riddim beat, just works out perfectly. It's so energetic, yet simplistic, yet futuristic, yet medieval, yet modern.
I think blossom was a great one in the sense that it served as a closing song not only to the compilation but as a way to relax and to say it in a way "expire the air you breathed in" during theo ther previous songs up to now. Apart form that, although I most of the times agree with your snare comments, in this song more of it isn´t necesssary because the drop does not need to have weight if you get me, but rather flow with the flout-like sound adn the other little sounds arounda that bring a dinamic company to the previous mentioned in order to chill rather than headnod. Anyways, great compilation and great vid Nawty!
All the songs in this album is perfect. There's nothing wrong imo they are all so amazing! My most favourite from this album is Waterfall by Skybreak. Absolutely stunning song.
For sure, this compilation is super refreshing compared to Disciple's previous releases that were very hit or miss. It makes me happy that the label are going back to that melodic direction just like the early days of Disciple
the double drop of iridescent was CHEFS KISS. all the tracks were amazing, wasn't too big on Blosso's "Snow" but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My favourites were ZEOL, Sharks, and Skybreak
i love this album, but the Crystal Skies song, with the lyrics mentioning "new normal" just turns me off and immediately dates the track even before it gets old every other track is a banger tho, ZEOL - Iridescent is AMAZING
I ranked them in my opinion cus why not, I struggled to rate this cus they're all sick. 8. Blosso - Snow 7. Crystal Skies - Moment With You 6. Skybreak - Waterfall 5. Ace Aura Rise 4. Sharks - Opal 3. Chime - Soda World 2. NUU$HI - Sakura VIP 1. ZEOL - Iridescent Ps: I love all them they are all sick and every single one is now in my playlist. Apart from Snow i'm sorry but not for me chief.
@@gnxrly hell no.. This is far better than crappy marshmello It's melodic dubstep not future bass / poop stuff.. You can check Ophelia Records for simillar style..
Great album, felt like disciple was just trying to hop onto the bandwagon of melodic riddim/future riddim. I love all the tracks here, just disciple are very... uncreative. Dope comp tho, 8.7/10 imo
Connor I need some help. I’ve been making really cool melodic riddim sounds, but I can’t make a decent song to save my life. Could I have you maybe privately give me some feedback on a track so I can maybe get a little bit?
