After 4 years posting Bass music review content multiple times a week, I have shifted focus to video essay or mini documentary-style video making.
Fortnightly videos covering specific artists, albums, topics, issues and more from the Bass music world. Written and narrated by yours truly, and edited, visualised and brought to life by a selection of editors who've joined the Nawtystep team.

I get it, this tune is hyped so you reacted to it.. to be honest you should react to cisco and hamdis swing king skrillex mixed vocals of push with it live anyway
As much as I love this track, I honestly prefer the live version that I've heard from his sets. To me, I got used to that version, so when this version dropped, it was a little odd when they replaced some parts of the song, but I digress.
@@Nawtystep It's not just Hamdi doing this. His recent tracks sounding like 1 to 1 copies honestly already bores me. Music is supposed to be creative. 1 or 2 tracks with the exact same bassline continuesly playing sure. But more than that, with a similar beat too?.. He's got sooo many options to make even the same sound more unique for a new track! This is coming from a producer for 20 years.
I also JUST started having screen-related issues as well. Pseudomyopia from excessive near work, I’m pretty sure. Hopefully it will go away with more time outside focusing on distant objects.
so happy to see you back :D glad you're better now, but as always, we're always supportin ya no matter what medium you continue to use to review stuff.
Nawty wear blue light blocking glasses to mitigate the effects of harm on your eyes from screens and put your devices on dark & warm colored modes. Artifical blue lights destroys the retina and also circadian rhythm cause it’s designed to keep you up imitating the sun but it does that instead with less benefits and much more cons compared to warmer light (the real sun). Try to get much more sunlight if you can since that helps your set it’s circadian rhythm much much better and make sure your bare eyes (no glasses & contacts for a second) look at the sun for just half a second or so that way your body can tell itself you’re actually there. Also vitamin D from the sun helps a lot with blue light toxicity from screens , proven from holistic studies. A bit random but I hope this helps overall with any problems cause trust me this affects everyone 🙏
Not entirely related to the video itself, but in regards to your screen issue, I am curious as to some things that you will be doing moving forward to help manage that. I tend to have a bit of an issue with a lot of my time being on screens in my life, and knowing good ways to manage that might be helpful insight to have. In any case, great to see you back, even if not in full flow yet! Excited to see what's to come
@@Nawtystep I’m sorry, I did not refer to the 2 drops compared to each other. For me the first drop goes on too long with the same thing which, sadly this makes it so I can’t get to the 2nd drop as I’m already done half way through the first one.
@@ema6897what artists are you listening to bro skrillex sounds like one of the few people doing something truly different right now with edm while also bringing the old school back
There's a UK Garage beat in the breakdown / bridge. Historically, a lot of the percussion from Dubstep came from 2-Step Garage especially the super early ones.
the title shouldve been: "PRETENDING IVE NEVER HEARD A HAMDI TRACK BEFORE FOR 7 MINS!" seriously, it sounds almost identical to every other copy & pasted track hes put out, people only gas this track up because it has Skrillex's name attached to it. Nawtystep obviously needed the views
Yeah, Skrillex has been letting me down as of lately, his latest releases, while well produced, feel blant and uninspired, with few exceptions, nothing like good old Skrillex, his music used to have such a rich ambiance, feeling and punch... Nowadays it feels like he's just doing overproduced club background music which saddens me:/
🤣🤣 Either there’s an insane irony to this comment in your own sensationalising for likes, or it’s irony in the sense that you don’t actually listen to Hamdi, making a comment like this. He’s a multi-genre producer with lots of nuance within certain styles he goes back to, so even though I get your point to an extent, it def isn’t entirely I gassed it up for all the reasons I gave in the video, but you’d have to watch it to know that
@@Nawtystep i can acknowledge that hamdi has an extent of versatility, but lets not pretend his popularity comes from milking the same track over and over, just slapping a different name on it each time: - Counting - Skanka - Skanka VIP - Skanka Vocal Dub - Criminal - Killa - Simplicity - Selecta - Discovery - Squirrel You know and most others aware of him also know this, so lets not pretend its just "certain styles he goes back to" when its more like he "copy and pastes his hits to get more plays" 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah this is dope, my only complaint is that the drop sounds too much like hamdi with the bass and synth and how it sounds like every hamdi track ever but idk, but its still dope, i love the break with the sick vocals, and the drums on the drop are amazing and clean i love it. And the last drop is awesome with the cool tiny bit of tremolo on the bass
That’s the thing though, it doesn’t sound like every Hamdi track ever. It may sound like some of his best tracks, but this approach provides crossover potential for someone like Skrillex and Hamdi’s v good at it clearly. Slight no brainer 🤷🏻♂️
@@Nawtystep the only thing im saying that sounds like every Hamdi track is the bass and synth style of the drop, but then again, not every one of his songs is like that, and good point, the crossover and the way it was put together was done very well for the different styles, so thats one thing that is pretty incredible
Pretty interesting track I kinda vibe with the sound design and flows even though I don’t normally listen to 140 a whole lot Can’t say I’ll like it for a long time but for now its pretty nice
@@MRH34DS40T98It sort of does if you compare it to a lot of older tonal square wave stuff. But it doesn't really go beyond a few passing similarities.
