My eczema was so severe as a child that I couldn't take my childhood shots until I was 15 years old. It was a bit traumatizing as a child with all the teasing I endured due to children and adults thinking I had a contagious disease, not to mention the school stand-offs because I didn't have my childhood shots. But that all changed the summer of 82 when I was 16, my parents decided to find a new dermatologist because the present one couldn't seem to help me. Dr. Martin, my angel, he was more than just a doctor to me, he was family and I loved him like a grandfather. When I was 18 he called me into his office and told me he was going to retired now because I didn't need him anymore. I cried but understood and thanked him for helping and supporting me. My parents were not rich and Dr. Martin treated me for free for 2 years and he held off his retirement until my skin was clear and healthy. I'll will always be grateful, he changed my life. I still miss him and so thankful to him 36 years later.

Kay Lewis I'm so glad you were able to find someone to help you. Your doctor sounds like a living angel. If I may ask, why did those other doctors have you hold off on childhood vaccines?
@kaylewis9135
@kaylewis9135 5 лет назад
@@janea7592 Because I was allergic to everything. If I listed all things I wasn't allergic to, the list of what I was allergic to would have been a mile long. So, because of that fact the doctors were afraid to vaccinate me.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. No one would have taken the time to explain the problem so well to me. You are very generous with your time to explain to us in every detail. I started using fragrance-free laundry detergent and fabric softener. I threw away a pair of jeans that were fading. I will follow your advice and buy a product that can remove scratches. I'm probably gonna need the ointment and the cream. Here in Quebec City, it is very difficult to see a dermatologist. We need a prescription from the doctor. And, they never have time for a detailed explanation. Thank you again! You're saving my life...hihi!

I’m so grateful to happen across this video. I have for several years been suffering with an unknown skin disease that several doctors have given several names to. I have pretty much had to diagnosed myself with the help of God. I did a lot of research and have looked at a lot of gruesome looking skin disease just to find which fits my skin disease. I think I may even go back to school to become a dermatologist because I feel so sorry for skin disease sufferers. The characteristics of nummular fits the closes. The redness, the itching, the constant weeping, the coin size lesions, the thickness and scaliness all are signs are there. I think because I’m dark skinned it was hard for the over 50 dermatologists i seen at a tri-study were all puzzled. So for 15 years I have gone undiagnosed. I don’t blame them at all. It has made my faith in God a little more stronger. I’m just glad I now know what it is and can now manage it. Everything you said in your video gave me the confirmation I needed. Again thank you for caring enough to make this video. I have definitely subscribed to your channel.

Sweat is something that can cause my eczema to flare immediately so not getting too hot and staying cooler is imperative. You are correct about the really hot water and Atarax is an excellent drug to help with the itch. I was born with eczema from head to toe and have used hundreds of moisturizers. The very best I have ever used is the Aveeno Eczema care cream. It is like a miracle for my skin - truly a miracle.

My son (3 yo) was diagnosed with discoid eczema a while ago - he's had flare ups since he was teeny tiny. I'm based in the UK, and GPs have prescribed loads of things in the past, including emollient creams and liquids for his baths, steroids, anti-fungal stuff, antihistamines...you name it, we've tried it! At the moment he's using zerobase ointment (like the thick greasy cream Dr Dray was mentioning), epimax and zerobase moisturising cream, and 1% hydrocortisone at night to keep patches under control (he had been on betnovate 2%, however this is much stronger stuff - hydrocortisone just doesn't seem to be doing the job!). We have been advised to slather him in the moisturisers at least 4 x per day - and he absolutely LOATHES it!! It's an absolute nightmare - we've been doing it for months and months now and he still tries everything to get out of it! The worst part is the constant scratching at bedtime - I've had to invest in dungaree pjs from a company called Scratchsleeves so that he can't get to the larger patches on his legs and back. I'm hoping the warmer weather will help clear things up, but also dreading the shorter, looser clothing facilitating lots more scratching! His current flare up is probably the worst we've had so far. Just wondered if anyone has any additional, practical tips for dealing with this skin condition in toddlers and kids?

my dermatology say that eczema can cause kidney failure because my eczema have been worse this fast months and when I visit my doctor he said I'm so close to having a kidney failure and this got me really scared because I already have the worse skin diseases and now I'm having kidney failure

I find all the videos about skin conditions interesting, because you explain the conditions so well. This video was particularly interesting to me, b/c I have eczema. I am curious if all types of eczema share the barrier defect in the skin or if it is only nummular. I plan on purchasing the recommended products mentioned in this video. Thank you again, I hope you have a great weekend!! 💜

Yes, and many people with eczema have a genetic deficiency in one of the skin barrier components called filaggrin

I wish you were my mom's dermatologist. You always lay everything out so concisely and make easy to follow recommendations. I feel like all the other dermatologist's my mom has tried have just failed to give clear concise information on her skin condition (prurigo nodularis) , and spend way too much time ordering tests that don't really apply to her skin condition.
@DrDrayzday
@DrDrayzday 5 лет назад
prurigo nodularis is a chronic version of eczema and very difficult to treat/improve; the tests are to rule out less common things, but are important

My husband has had some large patches on his ankles for about 5 months now. He saw a family Dr who told him it was athletes foot and prescribed him oral and topical anti fungal. My husband completed his anti fungals but still has the patches on his ankles. He already has eczema so I’m thinking his Dr was incorrect. He wears steal toe boots 10hours a day m-fri so I think that’s what’s irritating him. We went back to the same Dr recently who was not helpful and is now saying it’s ringworm which also doesn’t match up with my husbands symptoms. Please help us try to figure this out. Thank you for your insight.

my son has this and it is very hard to deal with. The dermatologist gave me hydrocortisone cream, that’s it! And it does NOT work nor help him. I cry sometimes cause this has scared him. It’s mainly on top of his feet, in the back of his knees and the fold in his arms, he can’t sleep because he itches. I don’t know what to use...it’s frustrating! It seems that even a quick tub rinse even makes it worse

Try eating a lb of lean meat a day, its highly possible you're eczema is caused by a lack of fliggarin production. Meat has the highest amount of L histidine which will stimulate more fliggarin. Hope this helps worth a shot

Can you please make a video reviewing IT Cosmetics' makeup line? IT Cosmetics claims their makeup contains anti-aging skincare and SPF 50 broad-spectrum. Supposably their makeup was developed with the help of dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Also, their makeup products have been Infused with hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and vitamins. Could you tell me if their claims are true? Is it worth it to spend the extra money on IT Cosmetics' makeup?

Thanks for the video. I’m not sure if I gave discoid eczema on my right arm as it’s quite raised like ringworm, it can change from white (hyperpigmentation like) to pink after a shower. Is this fungal or eczema? As it’s quite itchy after showering, I do moisturise but I’m wondering if there is a way to reduce the raised bump? Thanks

My baby was diagnosed with ringworm near his eye and was prescribed topical steroids. After treating him for 3 months and the "ringworm" coming back, we realised its not a ringworm. I am so disappointed i used all these steroids creams on him and damaged his skin even more. His skin seems better now. I just dont know how often to moisturize it. Do i moisturize whenever it starts to look dry?

Thankyou!! I have mild eczema and it’s never been a problem for me, until I moved somewhere else. I started noticing that after I scratched mosquito bites, they would turn into ring like crusty flaky skin( like ringworm). Ive been applying triamcinalone and mometasone ( what my doctor prescribed me before, which usually works), but mometasone doesn’t quite work well when the ring’s alrdy forming. I’ll try vanicream and see the results after a week or 2.

The rings itch like hell when I don’t scratch them, and I’m trying my best not to scratch them because it’ll feel like my skins burning which is worse than not scratching my skin.
