I'm a mum of 3 and couldn't have a more different life than you. But your videos are a joy to watch and your personality and outlook on life make me appreciate how much beauty, and positivity there is on this earth ❤️
I really appreciate what you've written down in the description box, you don't have to excuse for the content of your videos! We love you just the way you are, don't mind people who just talk and write enviously! xx
Read your entire description box. God, why do you need to justify yourself, you shouldn't have to! Just do what makes you happy. And personally, I love your videos and so happy you've grown. You deserve a lot more subscribers.
I totally agree. Some people are so salty....it is ridiculous. I like watching your videos. You can tell 100% that you love the things you buy, you're so enthusiastic and that is really nice to see! I can totally understand why you felt the need to write that though, people can be harsh and jealous and ridiculous. You're a beautiful sweet person and I hope you keep doing what you'r doing :D :D
I am what you would call, a silent viewer, I usually never comment on videos, but today I just felt like I had to. I felt really awkward reading Lydia's disclaimer. It really saddens me that the owner of this channel, in this case Lydia, is put in a position (by her so-called viewers) that she has to justify herself , her lifestyle or the way that she spends HER money. Everybody gets butt hurt about anything nowadays. It just really saddens me, even though I do not even know Lydia. I enjoy her videos, her content and I like the things she hauls, does that mean that I feel obligated to buy the same thing? NO it does not. You should not tell a stranger how to spend her money or judge her lifestyle, because at the end of the day, THAT is what Lydia is to all of us, a stranger that we don't know but enjoy watching on RU-vid. Jesus Christ, there is enough going on for people to keep on hating on everybody and anything. There, Rant over. Have a good evening :-)
I think the best thing to do is stop apologizing for being yourself. I like you, Lydia, for who you are. Otherwise, I wouldn't be a faithful subscriber.
you never have to justify your chanel.. bless your heart . I'm 42, 3 kiddos, let's be honest ' luxury' for me is taking a shower in peace😂... I don't have the budget anymore that I did when I was single but I LOVE to see what you buy, where you visit. you are classy and beautiful and have a beautiful heart. don't let anyone tell you any different. . and for all you youngsters.. bloody buy expensive shoes now whilst you can👠👠👡👠
I love your 'disclaimer' there is no need to justify your channel and content but it shows how passionate you are. By far my favourite RU-vid channel as I enjoy the variety of your content, from your boots hauls, shopping in MK centre to designer brands - this is why we keep coming back and it's why you are top 3 social influencer. Thank you for always working so hard for your content it always shows and pays off
Hi Lydia, After reading your disclaimer I just want to let you know that I don't buy designer myself but that doesn't stop me from watching your videos because I find you to be a really positive and pleasant personality to watch. Style wise as well I'm often able to pick up ideas/inspiration from you and put together similar outfits from the high street so don't worry about people being bitter or judging your lifestyle- I know it can be really frustrating but the people who like to watch you get it ❤
Oh my, I can't believe WHY you should justify yourself on what you are doing and why you are doing it? You LOVE what you do and we LOVE YOU for what you are doing!💕 No, I cannot afford most things you show in your videos and blog, but It all inspires me so much✨!! And just love how you and Ali are being yourselves, and see your passion❤ Let those haters hate, it shows that you are doing something GREAT 💅🏼
Lady Lena indeed, i don't understand how people can say those kind of things and feel good about themselves? putting someone down that loves what they are doing.. i find it such an odd behaviour. If you don't like it; don't say anything or watch something else, or simply just get a life😂
Coffee Chai And Makeup i'm not sure if you are interpretating my comment in the wrong way; I am not telling her off or anything about her description box, it's more about some hate she gets from some people about what she is blogging and vlogging about, and then have to explain/justify in the description why she does it. I find it unfair towards her ...
Your description box is so refreshing and honest - thank you for sharing that. I understand that it's hard for people who watch "luxury" related videos but can't afford the goods themselves but that does not justify them criticizing you for the way you live your life at all. You have worked hard for all you have and I think that it's inspirational to see you enjoy your life! Also, the way Ali looks at you is too sweet, you can really see the love in his eyes 😍😍😍 so sweet!
The reason why I love watching your videos is because you are very honest. I have never felt pressured to buy anything. What I have taken from each of your videos is, I have learned so much when it comes to designer fashion. So when I am at the point in life where I can afford some of the more pricey stuff, I will have you to thank for the education I received on buying designer items. Thank You. Much love. x
Oh Lydia, you are the purest RU-vidr I know. The disclaimer you've written proves that! Keep doing what you love, to me it is such an inspiration. Indeed you can't please everyone however, you should please yourself. You are a grown ass woman who has worked hard. That has lead to great accomplishments, you shouldn't have to justify those!
I am absolutely obsessed with your channel Lydia, and the reason why I love it is because of your passion for designer items. You've helped reinspire my love for fashion, and you've even made me fall in love with a few designer items myself!! Not that you need me to tell you, but keep up the great work :) x
Love your videos Lydia! People who attack you are only projecting their own unhappiness onto you. They are jealous and frustrated by your success. I like that your channel promotes purchasing fewer, higher quality items rather than TONS of low quality fast fashion.
It actually made me quite emotional reading your description box, people may think that is pathetic, but I am the girl who is completely obsessed with luxury make up and I'm slowly becoming very interested in designer brands. I am currently in the last month of my degree stressed to the max with dissertation essays and exams, I am low on money and I don't have a job lined up for when i graduate, I'm going through a difficult time at home but I look admire you and the other youtubers I watch. You work hard for what you buy and your business is something I aspire to, I hope anyone who looks on these videos with negativity realizes that a lot of the time its just jealousy why not use it as an inspiration, work harder and save that extra pound and one day we can all own the designer bag, or go on incredible holidays. You never know what is around the corner so why dampen your life by being negative it neither brings nor adds nothing to your life or anyone else, enjoy the experience or be thankful that someone else gets to. One day that will be me and I am going to work bloody hard to make sure of it
Lydia, I love your channel, it's something I stumbles across recently and I'm so glad I did! You've taught me so much about luxury goods, and even though I'm only 17, I feel like I know a lot, however, I would love it if you did a video about the best beginner bags, not stupid prices like Chanel, like ysl prices, I'd love to buy myself something for my 18th! Please say we will see more coachella content on your social media!! I'd die to go to Bicester village one day, it's abit far from where I live x
Hi Lydia! I'm not a RU-vid viewer, but you're turning me into one because of you! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this video of you and Ali and think you both are so hilarious! I love how you both are so laid back and enjoy life with the blessings you've been given and work hard for. I read your description box and appreciate that you put out there that it's not a competition nor do you want anyone to go broke just to "keep up" and that's an important message. However, you don't have to explain yourself. It's your hard work that brings success and with that comes finances and you can spend your earnings how you please. Besides, luxury goods is always cost divided by times per wear and if you can pass it on down to your future children, it's well worth the money! I'm being extremely mindful of upcoming purchases related to fashion so I was happy to watch this video to see how you decide on your wardrobe. I've never commented on a RU-vid video before (yay for my first time commenting!), but maybe I've FINALLY found someone worth following, someone whom I can relate to and thoroughly enjoy watching. I cannot wait to see a video from your trip to the Maldives! xo
Girl you are such a BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING girl inside and out!!! Thank you for putting so much effort into your videos and being so considerate towards ur viewers! You deserve the world
even though i can't afford non of the things she hauls but i do enjoy her videos soo much. her smile, is soo beautiful. i really like her she is a best friend in my head. a lot of love from Italy😙
I wanted to say that I appreciate you using "Luxury" in your titles, as that helps distinguish between your high street hauls. I worked in Selfridges/ Harvey Nichols/ Kookai etc when I was a teenager and my biggest motivation at the time was my mum saying "if you want clothes and handbags you work for them because I can't afford it! I can tell you you are so right about building up to buy yourself good quality wardrobe items if that's what you are interested in. It's not for everyone and some people choose to spend on other things instead, but what I love about your vlogs are that you don't pretend and keep it real. It's quite apparent that you have good values and goals as at least you have bought your house and previously explained, never owned a credit card. Hats off to you I say for demonstrating how to look great by being savvy rather than a spendthrift who gets carried away :)
Lydia I am so proud of how far you have come and how much you have achieved! I usually never comment on videos, but I am so grateful for your content and how it IS 'luxury' items because otherwise, I would have close to no idea about the ins and outs of high end fashion/shopping. Thank you so much for your videos, you are the only youtube I love to bits!!
love you both Lydia and Ali, have watched you from the start and appreciate how much you stay true to yourself. There's always people who we'll never please, but as you said, no one is forcing anyone to watch!
You are my absolute FAVE!!! Love the shorter sandals. Such a great find! Thank you for sharing your life with us!!! You have been such an inspiration to me! Steph
Lydia, I love your videos and have been a subscriber for some time. Having just had a baby, it's now a treat to have time to myself and look forward to when I can live in your world for a little bit and enjoy the beautiful life you have made for yourself. Having read your description, it saddens me that you have to explain/justify yourself. The reason we follow you is because you are different than other RU-vidrs and I what I love most is that you and Ali are humble. Knowing now how far you have come in your journey makes me that much happier that you can buy the things you want. So well deserved. Thank you for sharing your glam English life 😘 Best wishes from San Francisco
You made a really good point. Luxury is subjective. And as you grow up, gain experience, become more financially secure, your perception of what luxury is changes accordingly. I respect you for sharing the things across your blog and your channel that you LOVE and I also respect you for being so selective about the brands that your work with. I am so sick of seeing young girls instagram accounts where every single damn picture contains an ad for some "healthy" fitness snack bars or other things that they clearly do not even genuinely love or believe in working themselves. I also believe that there are enough of bloggers that do asos and drugstore hauls and there is no need to do the same thing just for the sake of getting more views if that is something that you don't particularly enjoy. Moreover, people get butthurt when the products are sent by the brands, meaning, (sarcasm alert) you better go and buy them yourself piling up on bunch of things that will end up sitting on your shelves pointlessly after you release that "drugstore dupes for luxury make up" video as an example. Thats also why I respect you for showing the same products over and over again and sticking to what you truly love instead of going for all of this hype and showing off all of the new releases and stuff. Well anyway, I really enjoy watching your channel, keep doing what you love cause you're damn good at it!
The other reason they don't tell you what's there is because outlet stores generally have goods specific to them. My understanding in some stores you can tell it's not from the boutiques is the stars on the products. It's common place. Next does this kind of thing for their sales. Like those Sports bras you got, you save money purely because the band is smaller that's how you tell there outlet not boutique. I hope this makes sense.
Lydia, as a university student, I personally find so much joy in watching your videos. I may not be able to afford the same items as you right now, but it makes me want to strive for a successful career and be happy like you in the future. I want to say that you shouldn't have to justify your own personal spending, but I know that it's better safe than sorry for those few negative people out there! I hope you're having a wonderful day or night (whenever or if you see this lol). Thank you for this fun vlog! It's just what I needed to make me smile after a long day of work and my classes. 💗💗💗💗
Luxury is whatever you can afford or saved up for. From being homeless to where you are now is fantastic and u don't need to explain yourself, you deserve it 😊😍. xx
Woman, you do NOT need to justify yourself for what you buy! If it's expensive and you can afford or, or find a way to afford it, why the hell not?! I use to feel slightly ashamed or embrassed if I had something expensive that I was wearing or that was hanging off of me because I didn't want to come off 'spoiled' or 'full of myself', but if I feel good after saving money for it and wearing it, I shouldn't let other people's judgements affect my mood. Do you! You look great!
Lydia u are amazing! No need to justify yourself or your lifestyle. Your an inspiration keep doing what you do! Haters gonna hate & lovers gonna love. You deserve everything you have and we all know you work hard for it. Sorry you have to deal with such people and their comments. You have inspired me in so many ways on your channel. I've even started a new business because of you and other you tubers I've been watching. Thanks 🙏🏻 for everything.
I rarely read description boxes but after all the comments I saw, I had a read and you are truly an inspiration. I really admired your story and thank you for this video. I too have always wanted to visit Bicester village so this was came in quite handy.
This is your life beautiful and you can do whatever you want !!!! I really enjoy watching your videos and it isn't about "luxury items ", but about you and your wonderful attitude and style ... Georgia from Greece
Oh Lydia, you are so sweet. Please, continue doing these videos (I personally prefer the word Luxury in the title, but it is and should be your choice). I admit that your videos influence me in a positive and sometimes in a negative way. Like the other day I watched one of your older videos, the Greece island hopping one, and I loved the location. So I checked the hotel and I admit it made me sad that I am not able to fulfill this dream, cause it was ridiculously over-expensive. On the other hand, you inspire me to be more positive and to enjoy every day. And your style and fashion taste is just magical :) To wrap it up, it is my problem not yours what emotions I go through and how I am able to cope with them. Love you
The best thing to do is keep being you as that's what we all love about you. You are absolutely gorgeous and very dedicated to your channel which I love by the way totally a huge fan of yours. Forget the loses and keep being the best. Much love to ya sweets xxxx
Woah, woah woah! Look at that detailed description box. You go glen coco! Tell it like it is. You do YOU AND no one should tell you what to do. I know a lot of times people say that those who buy luxury have more money than sense, but that's BS. You can buy whatever you want to as long as it makes YOU happy! x
Love your bio/disclaimer! You are a great role model and style inspiration for me, even though I am a decade older! The haters who are jealous will always hate, but it does make me wonder if they hate it so much why do they keep watching? Love you Lydia and HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉 ❤️
Lydia, you seem like the most down to earth person I've ever come across. Your disclaimer proves this. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos, even if it's about things that I cannot afford (struggles of being only seventeen hahaha). You inspire me immensely and I hope one day I come as far as you have!
I love your videos for the information I get on designer stuff and you are right, I learned about other designer items and brand names that I don't normally see in my own country! To me, it's a really nice 'widening my horizons' sort of learning process when I see your hauls or your details-about-your-purchases videos. While I don't pour money into designer items, and while I have my own separate taste for the few items I do buy very very occasionally, I still watch your videos, because they inspire me somewhat in having a better eye for the items that I will/may buy. So Lydia, though I don't comment in your videos like 99% of the time, I just want to let you know that you are great as you are and the things you do on your channel--while pleasing some or most viewers--should ultimately only be something you yourself enjoy doing. You are at your place in life when you can do these things that you do, so do it and I fully support you! :) sending you lots of love and lots of squeals over your lovely finds thus far!
I've literally waited all day to be able to watch this, it's now 12:06am lol. But it was so worth staying up late for, I loved every second. The shoes are amazing, but I'm still in love with that Burberry lace trench coat lol. I love your disclaimer, I hate that you have to to "justify" yourself but on the flip side, I think the way you articulated it is so inspiring to other young women. As you know I'm still in grad school, and I'm in my mid-30s, my budget doesn't extend beyond the occasional splurge at Ted Baker or Swarovski, but I work hard for what I have. And one day when I'm done at uni and have a career and have paid off my student loans, if I want to buy an expensive designer bag, I will. I think the idea of a smart, independent, financially self-sufficient woman is threatening to some, so they will always try to tear you down. But just know that for every "hater" there are at least a dozen young women like myself who admire you for your hard work, talent, and persistence in this industry and watch your videos because of how genuine you are. Keep being you Lydia, because you're amazing and so many of us really appreciate that. :) xx
Thumps up what you have written down in the description box. I'm a new viewer from germany and I love your videos and your nice vibes. Keep on going. Lots of love, greetings from bavaria.
I have missed you videos so much! Seeing your videos really brightens my day! You almost told us about the lipstick combo you were wearing but didn't 😢 please can you tell us! Xx
i read your disclaimer and agree with you 100%. I live in the West Indies(Caribbean) a far way from the luxury stores or brands that u buy but, yet i love them all. u introduced me to fashion. i saw a lady on the road one day and i said to a friend of mine- thats a chanel boy bag she has there. its like 3000pounds give or take. i felt so good cause u have introduced me to a whole new world. i will visit America within the next two years and when i shop i will know its because of u. i want to say Thank You
I love your videos Lydia, your style, your personality, your love for life - and your giggle! While I don't afford the name brands, I can replicate them in my own way. THAT, is what this should be about. No apologies girl! We get in life what we work for, and go where God leads. In that, I am happy and you, my vlog friend, have found a way to make style, beauty tips and a care free lifestyle visible for others! It permits ANYONE to achieve, live and pursue their OWN dreams!
How can there be any dislikes!! Loved it Lydia, as always xx. I love that you are so honest and appreciate the comments you have made, i personally don't think you need to put luxury in the title as like you, I think this word is subjective, your Chanel is no different now to how it was a year ago when I started watching, haters will always hate, they just nee to scroll along, I think some people have forgot the bargain items you have told us about in the past! I personally can't afford the designer items you have, however, I get ideas and inspiration from them and then find similar high street items, which i love just as much, for that I thank you and i always look forward to the next vlog xx
Love a good sugar free redbull. Last week I had one a day as I was awake 18-20 hours as I was working full time and had just brought/moved house. It is a life saver sometimes and I refuse to be made to feel guilt. Its my body. I also live vicariously through you, I love your 'luxury' shopping hauls and always look forward to your vlogs. Keep being you beaut xx
I love going for a drive with you and Ali! LOL. Great video as always. That Temperley coat was BEAUTIFUL! I don't think I would've left that one behind... ;) Glad that you found some items that really chuffed you. Ali is so cheeky - adorable! Hope you had a fabulous birthday lovely!! xx
Love the outfit at the end. I feel like I don't see you wearing a lot of patterned items and that dress looked lovely on you. Amazing shoe find and although I can't see myself spending that much on shoes I can still relate to how excited you must have been to find them half price! Xox
Like others have already mentioned, you don't have to justify your channel and video content, ever! You're the creator here, you have full authority to share what you like best, and not just to please audience. I personally enjoy watching these vlogs, designer hauls, and higher-end items to gain knowledge. This is the best way to do research because we get genuine reviews about items we may want to purchase for ourselves or as gifts. Simple things like vlogging at a restaurant helps me to learn about etiquette and manners. If I want to know what it's like to walk upto a Chanel boutique, RU-vid is where I come first. If I want to know about vacations/trips, then vlogs are best at brainstorming rough estimates. If people like Lydia don't share what their experience is like with higher-end items/expensive trips, how are we supposed to learn? Obviously I love watching your channel because you're wonderful! Also because your content is valuable source of information.
You are SO right about Bicester being a place of mystery and luck. I don't love far away and I've been shopping there more than anywhere else and my top tip is to avoid any kind of public/ school holiday. They put the prices up and I swear they put the "nicer" pieces away and re-circulate older stock at those times.
Great video Lydia! It's so nice to watch how you buy something and that you don't buy anything just to show us something. Your new shoes are so cute! For me they would be perfect in the colour of your old ones! 🌸 Thanks for the video! Greetings from Germany -Sophie
I'm from Sri Lanka and I've been following you recently. I read your "note".You are doing a great job so you don't need to justify anything to anyone. I personally cant afford most of your stuff but I like watching them and enjoy them.keep up your good work!!!!
You keep being you. No justification needed for me. You and your style are inspiring, regardless of brand names. And even if you started doing knitting videos, I'd tune in...even though knitting isn't my thing. :) Take care and press on Lydia!
Well, you know what I think 😉 Plus, I have learned, especially over the past couple of years, that if you worry about upsetting people (which I used to constantly), you will never do anything.❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the explanation Lydia, but honestly you don't need to justify the content you put on YOUR RU-vid channel. The majority of us come here because we enjoy the type of content you post. No, I won't be spending $2,000 on a purse anytime soon, but I love watching your videos anyway. You have a wonderful spirit and that's what draws me in. I can tell you're passionate about what you do and do it because you love it. I'm here for your authenticity, and also because I like seeing nice expensive things I can't currently afford lol. Love always 💕
just had to go and read your description box as there was so many comments about it AND Im so glad people like you are out there to motivate me and others as I truely look up yo you so much! I find it so inspirational. Right now Im at uni and I cannot see myself in the future at all but I hope to be like you when I grow up hahahaha
Hi Lydia, I agree with the other viewers regarding having to put out a disclaimer However, it was done in such a classy way that it shows your character. I truly love your videos because it is not the same as other RU-vidrs. You buy something and you wear it that same day. Thank you for being you. Can't wait for the knitting videos.
And by the way, loved the video. Keep doing this because is you and I watch your videos because I can see that they are genuinely you and you are happy doing that.
work hard, play (spend) hard. I know I definitely could not afford to live the life you live, however it's inspiring. You work so incredibly hard, and your effort and dedication allows you to live the life you deserve. Do not feel the need to explain yourself.
Just read your description... firstly, I really wish you didn't have to justify your life choices like that to some people that ruin it for the rest of us. And secondly, thank you! I'm currently at uni so I definitely don't have money to buy expensive beautiful things, BUT you do show that it is totally possible to be able to if you really work hard which is exactly what I want to do. You are just my favourite youtuber because you are real to yourself. Please keep doing you girl!!! Xxx
I'm reminded of an advert here in Australia one year for Lamb where they made a very funny and tongue in cheek dig at vegetarians and there was a huge uproar from the vegetarians about how offended they were...the response....why do we care if we offend vegetarians they were never going to be buying lamb anyway!...People who comment and make you feel like you have to justify yourself were never going to get any value from your channel or stick around very long anyway so who cares if you "offend" them with your "lifestyle!!! So thankyou Lydia, once again, for another amazing and helpful video! I've been thinking about taking one of my few days in London later this year (on my Honeymoon woo hoo) and spending it taking a trip to Bicester Village! As others have said I am sad to see you have felt the need to add that disclaimer but I do understand why you have done so. I have seen the comments over and over and can only imagine how much it must wear thin. Just remember to always be true to yourself...
Honestly love you so much Lydia. You are a inspiration and a truly kind and amazing women. Don't let what other people think bother you because if you do you will never be satisfied. Do you love 💓💓💓💓
I went to Bicester village not that long ago and absolutely loved it. I find it is very hit and miss , but I bought my dream purse! I definitely want to go again to see what else they have there :) xxx
