Kirby, I like the way you spent a good amount of time discussing the second hand shoe renovation and general approach to buying used. I, personally buy mostly second hand shoes on Ebay/thrift stores in the UK. I have a budget, but I have a great desire to wear quality men's shoes (Goodyear Welted) without breaking the bank. So good you are covering the spectrum of budgets. :-) Thanks Tony

In addition, remind that labor, local material costs, store expenses are cheaper in Turkey, so 600 lira shoe (85 USD) doesn't mean cheap in local market. It could be equivalent to 200 USD quality in USA.

Turkey has great tailors, and the country is famous for leather too, but yes the shoe scene is kind of dreadful. I even asked a great Istanbul tailor where to go to for custom made shoes and he said "out of Turkey." If anyone knows a good place in Istanbul though let me know so I can give them all my money.

Try Paul Parkman ..I love their shoes, some designs are too bold for my taste but I always get MTO from them and get a subtle patina or dye as per my liking. Their factory is in Istanbul. Lastly you have to mostly request Goodyear or Norwegian Welt. Hope this helps

I never see Bally shoes discussed. I have several pairs of men's black cap toes that are in pretty good condition but I have owned them for 30 years. Should I keep them or replace them?

I suspect those shoes are John Lobb (Hermes) not John Lobb Ltd, which was the shopfront therefore wrongly shown.

I am from India and go for handmade shoes made locally (blake stitched). The design and quality is pretty good and price is reasonable... you can get a really good shoe for less than $100 :)

@@kirbyallison Don’t know if this method works in the long run. It gets tiresome for the viewers to be constantly bombarded with informercials when people are solely or more interested to look into tutorials of such topics. If more channels dedicate to luxury shoes and outfits as well as time pieces all in one, then this channel would further suffers. Perhaps subtle ways and less intrusive advertisements. As to be frank, many of the products at your online store could be bought elsewhere, and at significantly reduced price. Now that there are many competitors such as Trent and Elegant Oxford (and I might add they are hands on fixing those type of items while you are merely talking and giving shoe shine demonstration) selling similar range of shoe care products, it’s not sustainable to continue to aggressively doing this.
