They way college football works one loss can keep you out of the playoff, so every weekend is an important game

There are approximately 100 players on each roster. Don't forget - this is still college (they are 18-22 years old) and most are on scholarship receiving a free college education, enjoying continuing to play football and will then enter the real world after graduation like the rest of us. Only about 1% of high school players play Division 1 football and about 1% of those players make it to the NFL. These entrances are for a typical game played every Saturday. It's even bigger for rivalries, Bowl Games and obviously the National Championship.

College football is arguably bigger the the NFL in the US. It's HUGE and INSANELY fun to be in a crowd like that.

College football runs from late August to the first week in December. There are only about 6 home games each year, so each one is pretty special. However, if it is your rival or the teams are highly ranked then they tend to get more hype.

The second walkout is Virginia Tech, to Enter Sandman, and the stadium holds around 60,000 people and they regularly create seismic activity(small earthquakes). My sister goes there so I have been to a few games and nothing compares to that atmosphere truly. Insane.

Typically, students (and sometimes alumni) of American universities get free or very cheap tickets to school sporting events, and they have a whole section reserved for them at all the sports venues. Of course, by nature students tend to have a ton of school spirit, which means that they _pack_ the students' section, all decked out in the wide variety of school-colored t-shirts, jackets, scarves, and hats that are inevitably available at the university bookstore.

Every game is insane because every game of the season is important. But the night games, in state rivalry games, and conference games are a different beast all in itself lol.

Yes, this is every college game. Each team plays 6 games at home, 6 on the road. Football is a religion in America with the kids (under 18) playing on Friday's, the boy (18-22) playing on Saturday's, and the men playing on Sunday's. Each of these stadiums are cathedral's dedicated to the game. A game which, by the way, is a war between two opposing forces, and most of the terminology of the game is taken from war strategies and tactics.

Seeing enter sandman always gives me chills and I'm no VA tech fan at all. Whenever I see it at night I marvel at people who don't get sports. What an atmosphere

College football is amazing. When I was at LSU football games in college it was one of the most electric events I have ever witnessed. Most universities have so many students and their families attended that university producing even more fans and we show up for our team!

While some of this is excitement for a "normal" game, there are very few "normal" games in college football. You have rivalry games and homecoming games, which bring out a lot of alumni. Also, prior to the college football playoff system, the National Champion was determined by a poll, which meant that 1 loss could end you chances at a championship. This meant that every game was essentially a playoff game.

It's the perfect combination of factors that generates this type of enthusiasm -- the students who are attending the school, the alumni of the school, and the community in general -- in some cases the school is hundreds of miles from a professional football team. It becomes an event -- a before, during, and after party. Fans, bands, cheerleaders, mascots -- and of course, the actual game, which is high level and exciting competition. The South does it the best -- but there are pockets in the East, Mid-West and West. There are better videos than this one -- I think it's called "the best American sports fans" which features college football and college basketball. The March Madness college basketball videos are crazy -- featuring last second buzzer beaters.

I went to Florida State, seeing Chief Osceola plant the flaming spear in the center of the field always got me excited for the upcoming game. It is one of my favorite college traditions.

Went to Tcu vs Texas this year in Austin Texas and it was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before! The atmosphere over the whole city was crazy all weekend leading up to the game!! And the pregame atmosphere was unreal!!

Home game atmosphere at places like Ohio State and Tennessee are on another level. It's massively theatrical and you can't help but get swept up in it. Certainly they'd never go for this buildup in EPL or the Bundesliga, but if they did it would be glorious

Couple responses to some of your guys questions. The entrances are the same for every home game. For the amount of players the NCAA requires 85 players to be roasted but the max is over 100. For the NFL they can't have more than 53 players rostered.

The Tennessee entrance is called 'Running Through The T'. The T is formed by the UT Pride of the Southland Band. They've done this since 1965. It started in 1962 with the basketball team.

They can have as many as 85 players on a team. You have your starters, then your backups in the form of 2nd string 3rd string and even down to 4th string players. Guys get hurt all the time, so you need replacements, and sometimes replacements get hurt. The 49ers in the NFL was a good example of that this season, their number one QB got hurt, then number two, then number three, they were down to their 4th QB and that hurt them in the playoffs.

I went to Clemson, That clip didn’t have the music (Tiger Rag). It is staggering how loud it is. My room was about 1.5 miles from the stadium, and still stupid obvious when the the team ran in. Also, the thing at the top is a rock from Death Valley California (the nickname of Frank Howard Field is ‘Death Valley’ (dont’ get me started on LSU about the nickname or the music).

As a footnote, Virginia Tech, the school that has the Hokie mascot and enters to "Enter Sandman." That entrance shows up as seismic activity. That's not an exaggeration. If you don't know that Virginia Tech is having a football game, you might think there was a small earthquake in the area.

The "Red River Rivalry" or "Red River Shootout" is hige between Texas and University of Oklahoma. The game was in your video. Its always played in Dallas. That is always a killer game!!!

These are so sick. You gotta appreciate that a lot of these guys schedules day to day are insanely loaded. You gotta love what you do to have the energy to keep that up.

Beaver Stadium (Penn State Nittany Lions) has decibel readers and the mini seisometers through out the measure the ground shaking and the noise made during a game (especially the white out).

All these entrances are just the normal entrance during home games for these teams... the vibe is always electric!!!

1) The number of players is roughly mid-80s. That's the number of full and partial scholarships (60ish)+ the few dozen walk-ons. 2) In the South-East, hence SouthEastern Conference (SEC: the best college football conference) this is EVERY single game! 3) We would love to have you over even if you know barely nothing. The virginia tech "hokies" during intro to home games it registers on the seismograph/Richter scale. "Measures earthquakes" Maybe that's common idk but really cool especially being from a small town. I believe lane stadiums capacity is like 67,000ish people which is insane for college football. Ik it's small compared to other college stadiums but sometimes the pics/videos dont do it justice! The yellow in that bottom corner of the Michigan game was the student section! Generally the rowdiest and honestly the drunkest section of fans at any college football game.

In the UT video (the orange team) they ran through the power T formation that the band makes. It's for the University of Tennessee and it's a pretty unique tradition that we have here. Not many people get to run through a letter symbolizing the team's name. Really proud to be a Vol fan. We have one of the coolest stadiums/traditions in all of football.

I always love it when the officers assigned as security get into it during the entrances, too. Like in the FSU clip,you can see the sheriff’s deputy’s hat bobbing up and down to the chant. A max of 85 scholarship players are allowed each year in FBS (Division I), and 63 for FCS (Division II). Max player limit was 105, but that may have increased because of the new transfer portal that came 2 years ago. Not too sure. The players over the scholarship limit are walk-ons and pay their own way. I think the minimum player number needed aligns with scholarship limits. 25 scholarships are allowed to be given each year to incoming recruits (freshman or transfers). That limit has been suspended for the next two seasons, because the new transfer portal has caused a ton of roster turnover. Before the transfer portal, you'd have to sit out the following year at your new school if you switched. Now, you can transfer one time without sitting out the following year. If you transfer a second time, you'd have to sit out a year. The NCAA also gave every athlete who was in college at the time of COVID one extra year of eligibility (5 instead of 4), since so many games were canceled. So, athletes who are currently juniors or seniors still have their extra year if they choose to use it. Note: All athletes have 5 years to use 4 years of eligibility. Coaches will redshirt a freshman if they aren't ready to play (happens often in football) to save their full 4 years. In football, a player can still use a redshirt year if they haven't played above a certain percentage of the season's game (usually 4 games). A medical redshirt can be petitioned for and allow 6th year (6 years to play 4 years) if an athlete gets hurt early in the season.

The entrance is a huge part of football in general even at the High School level. I remember during my high school years running through a large banner with fireworks behind us while the band played our fight song. Its fully intended to get the home team and crowd juiced up and let me tell you it works because we’d be so ready to hit someone we’d be on the sidelines head butting each other 😂

College football is like having the playoffs for 14 games. One loss can keep out from playing for a national title….2 losses, that ship has sailed and you gotta aim for next year (the only 2 loss national champion in the BCS era (Bowl Championship Series) is the LSU Tigers in 2007) But normally that wouldn’t happen, you can make it and win with one loss but you would need alot of help (other teams have to lose to help your case) and in alot of cases some teams can go undefeated and never get in at all (factors like the conference you play in, the strength of your schedule, wins versus other ranked opponents, etc) which is wild alot of the time.

Due to the possibility of injuries in American football, the “travel squad” is about 50 to 60 guys compared to the 22 that you put on the field with both offense and defense When the game starts. It’s a big deal to make the “travel squad” as a young guy. The first time I made the travel squad as a freshman was a big deal. I wrote home to my parents.

the third team with all of the yellow is michigan and that stadium is biggest in college football at 108,000. you mentioned the more yellow in the bottom corner of the stadium....that is the student section. current students get free tickets to the game and all sit in the student section. it is by far the rowdiest, loudest and most colorful part of every stadium (every team has student section)

The Iowa Hawkeyes are the only ones that come out hand in hand. After the 1st quarter, everyone, including the other team, turned and did a wave to the children in the kids wing of our hospital. The coach kirk ferentz started it. Theres a little you tube video about how the wave came to be, Kirk Ferentz son lost their baby after a week at the hospital, and its so sad to see him tear up. Anyway, the players come down the tunnel to back in black acdc😁

Yall gotta come to the SEC and see a game. Experience it!!! Especially a rivalry game. I recommend the Iron Bowl. Auburn vs. Alabama.

to your question at 12:16: In America, throughout high-school (or secondary school) and college sports, teams have what is called a "home-coming game". This game signifies the first home game after the teams longest streak of away games, they also have a "senior night" which is the last home game of the season and the last one that the current years graduating class will play in.. so most of these amazing entrances are home-coming or senior night games.. none the less, every game, the home team does have an entrance pre-game, and the fans are always jumping.

College Football is huge. Everyone is pumped up on Saturdays here in the US. Being from Oklahoma we love our Football here. But there's nothing like College Football in my opinion

American universities were once strongly tied to the military - dating back to the early 19th Century. Students were expected to participate in military science courses - this was especially true at universities with concentrations in the physical sciences. They would then receive commissions as officers in state militiae, subject to federal call-up in times of war. Marching bands are the product of that tradition. Because bugles, drums, and trumpets were used to communicate orders on a battlefield, university cadets would give demonstrations of precision marching and close order drill, based on musical cadence. The practice evolved to simply having the band itself do the marching. Those origins are the reason today's band uniforms still have a quasi-military, anachronistic sort of appearance - bear skin hats, epaulets, that type of thing.

The bands and dance teams for the schools perform during halftime and you do need to react to the bands - they are incredible.

In D1, teams are allowed to have 85 players on scholarship, but many teams have walk-on players also. You are allowed to have 20 of those on your roster, but there are often more who don't suit up. At present, Nebraska has around 150 guys, but when the legendary Tom Osborne was coach that was around 200. The walk on program is a beautiful thing. Those are underdogs who are all talented enough to get scholarships at smaller schools, but they choose the sacrifice and risk because they love it. Osborne didn't need to have fullbacks on scholarship because there were always enough guys in the state built like that volunteering for the job. At Nebraska, there are always a few guys who started as walk-ons, but earned starting roles and scholarships. Those are usually small-town guys from Nebraska who just love it. Those underdog stories are part of the beauty and drama of college football.

As for Marching Bands my favorite are the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies. Very very precise and traditional style. Though the Ohio State Marching band, known as The Best Damn Band in the Land (TBDBITL), is probably the most popular.

What I dont think yall quite understand is how deafeningly loud the stadiums are. Its extremely easy to underestimate how loud they are when watching a video on youtube.

Some of these shown in this video were special games like two highly ranked teams or a special tribute to a coach, but with that said pretty much every game is like this. Now if you are 1-11 and it’s a noon game probably not shooting off fireworks but the entrance and the theatrics are the same regardless of the “importance” of the game for most power 5 teams

They play trophy games as well. The university of Minnesota is a very old program and play for the 3 best trophies. 1. The Little Brown Jug vs Michigan 2. Paul Bunyan s Ax vs Wisconsin 3. Floyd of Rosedale vs Iowa

The Hokies are Virginia Tech and they are about 45 minutes south of me and that stadium is right on campus and it’s incredible to see

I love our Nebraska Tunnel walk on Saturdays when the Huskers are home Memorial Stadium becomes Nebraska's third largest city we have sold out every game since 1962.

Some are definitely more emotional based on the opposition but every game is a spectacle. It's incredibly wild to be a part of, so much fun!

These are all regular season games. If you come during College Football season you can go to any game that you buy tickets for. Some atmospheres are better than others. The FSU entrance with the horse & the flaming spear is done at every home game. If it's a home game against Florida, their main rival, then Chief Osceola gets off the horse faces the stands raises the spear above his head 2x, turns the opposite direction, does the same, then plants the spear into the ground. FSU plays UF every season in the last regular season game, they alternate home. Bands do the halftime shows, they also play during the game while seated in the stands, and they play before the game. Going to a game is an all day event if you include tailgating before the game.

Many of these stadiums hold over 100K. Incredible noise levels. Throw in the HOT cheerleaders, what better way to spend a fall Saturday! Yes you have marching bands! It`s quite the experience.

10:55 I lived in South Carolina for 6 years and saw a few games there in my time. Williams-Brice Stadium holds 77,500ish officially. But as you can see in the video people often stock up on the spiral ramps of the concourse because for big games they will sell "concourse tickets" where you aren't guaranteed a spot but can find one standing along those rails. As a result some games see 160,000 attendees and 100,000 in the actual stadium.

The Miami Hurricanes is the team featured. 6:43 that's the current(as of the filming) head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers walking out with the older man, who is Tom Osbourne. Osbourne is the greatest coach in Nebraska history who led them to a record of 255-49-3 and appeared in a Bowl Game every season he was head coach. Nebraska fell from prominence when he retired, yet, they remain 8th all time in wins despite nearly two decades of mediocrity. That's how good they WERE. You guys should react to the Wisconsin Badgers - "jump around" tradition.

I'm sure it's been answered, but there's usually anywhere around 70 - 85 players dressed ready to play for the game per team. But 11 players per team on the field at one time. There's no limit on the number of substitutions that can be made, so players are constantly being changed in and out after every play.

Some cities in states like Texas shut down completely for even high school games. Or at least they used to. The movie Friday Night Lights showcases some of this. The hype and love for football in America is real. There are alot of players on a team between starters and backups. At least in the NFL they have a 53 man roster. And that doesn't even mention the practice squads and people you can have on injured reserve. There is a salary cap for each team, though, which affects the actual quality of players you can keep. I digress. There is a ton to learn.

I wish they would've showed more of Nebraska. The state of Nebraska has about 2 million people total in it, they've sold out their stadium every game for the past 60 years. The football stadium becomes the 3rd largest city in the state every time there's a home game.

Usually 85 dress for a home game. Players usually only play offense or defense with a few others like lineman or ball carriers playing special teams/kicking situations.It's more common in high school for players to play both sides of the ball but you usually specialize in college and even more so in the NFL.

Why so many players? 1. Teams have around 25 new players per yr that need developing. 2. The starters, #2s & best #3 back up players play significant snaps per game. 3. Scout teams, offensive/defensive players that are not quite good enough are used as practice dummies. They simulate the up coming opponents game plans in practice . This is done so the #1s can focus on what they need to do instead of playing the roll of the opponent in practice. 125 players per team with 85 scholarships players (per the rules ). Only 75 travel on away ganes .

NFL Teams are allowed 53 on the active roster and 16 practice squad players. College teams are allowed up to 110 on the roster. 85 of those are scholarships (education, housing, and meal plans paid for).

If you want something crazy, you should look up the college football facility tours. Check out Oregon, Alabama, and others. The facilities are insane.

I went to Florida State University (aka FSU) and football season is amazing. You should watch a full pregame ceremony as it's one of the best in the nation. Chief Osceola riding Renegade onto the field and planting the flaming spear is awesome! The tailgating before the game and parties after are always fun. I feel very lucky to have gone to a school with such a great football program. It made weekends much more fun. It's also a friendly bunch of people for the most part. You can walk around at tailgating and meet people from opposing schools and share drinks and food. It's just great party environement.

American college teams typically have 60-80 players (offense, defense, special teams)... There's also 2nd and 3rd string players (substitutions for injured players) among the lot.

There is literally nothing like college football Saturdays in America. People plan their entire lives around it. They'll wake up at 5:00 in the morning to get everything ready, then drive to the stadium and hang out in the parking lot all day cooking, eating, drinking, and playing games in preparation for an evening football match. That's just for a regular game. When it's a really important game between rivals, the atmosphere is incredible. College football isn't a sport in America, it's a spectacle. It's a lifestyle.

The first one is Clemson. Howard's Rock is a large piece of quartzite that is displayed in Clemson University's Memorial Stadium.[1] The rock is the center of a longstanding tradition where players touch it before running down the hill in the east end zone at each home football game

The first team getting off the bus is our team. My son's alma mater: Clemson University. The team's name is Clemson Tiger. The logo is tiger paws mark, with orange background or tiger paws are in orange & white background. They also have a purple jersey aside from orange. Dabo Sweeney is an outstanding very well respected coach. Who can mold and mentor college athletes and turn them into a very well rounded citizens. So if you see a sea of orange crowd, it's Clemson Tigers. The coach is Dabo Sweeney. I've been in home games watching the Tigers. The entrance from the tunnel leading up to downhill running bouncing towards the main field. My son's team practices at Death Valley, where they touch a symbolic rock for good luck before descending down the bumpy hill towards the field. I have pictures of me standing beside that legendary rock. Some even kiss that rock. Further along is the Crimson Tide (deep red jersey) representing the University of SC (USC). So these are two famous rivals from South Carolina. Prestigious colleges that's hard to get into, unless you have an athletic scholarship or exemplary high grades from High School plus they take into account your extra activities like volunteering at soup kitchens for homeless and other humanitarian deeds showing your compassion for humanity Clemson is famous for it's baccalaureate high standard education. You'll more than likely to get a job easily if you have a Clemson diploma but Clemson also is known for partying😅. These athletes compete on any day and still attend class the next day. So its a fun college and high standard, too. That is why my son is so happy he got accepted at Clemson cuz this is his dream college major in Biology. I cannot count the number of times i lost my voice watching home games😂 it's a different atmosphere when you're watching it live in person. The field feels like it's bouncing up & down like there's drumbeats under the grass plus the roaring, thunderous, explosive sound You'll get goosebumps, its so surreal. It's a big party. And you easily get lost, i did, finding your seat, what entrance you need to take near your seat. I went to buy drinks & nachos at the food court and i can't find my way back😢😅
