This video will show you how to combine dry needling, cupping, and acupuncture to relieve heel pain from Haglund’s deformity. This patient was seen three times. The aim of the cupping was to increase the flexibility of the calf. On the first two visits, dynamic cupping was applied. Classical acupuncture points were used to help reduce swelling and stimulate the healing process of bone and soft tissue. Local dry needling (surrounding the dragon) around the site of the injury will cause microtrauma and initiate the body’s immune response and the release of epithelial growth factors.
Haglund’s deformity is a bony growth, bump or swelling that develops on the back of your heel bone where your Achilles tendon attaches. The bump can become painful and inflamed (bursitis) from persistent rubbing on the back of your shoe. Haglund’s deformity can occur from rubbing of poorly fitting footwear, seen in people who have high arch feet, tight calves and someone who walk on the outside of their feet.
