Argonne is a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center where talented experts work together to answer the biggest questions facing humanity. And sometimes we find answers to big questions in very small samples.
Argonne’s Environmental Sample Preparation and Sequencing Facility (ESPSF), part of the Biosciences division, specializes in preparing and analyzing samples to gain a better understanding of the natural world. They conduct nucleic acid extraction, library preparation and ultrahigh throughput sequencing to give researchers from around the world a deeper understanding of rare or complex genetic material.
According to Sarah Owens, the Sequencing Laboratory Manager, “Argonne has a culture of openness, a broad range of expertise, and an investment in the tools and strategies that give us the ability to find what researchers need.”
