Yes, I will. I will do it when they bloom so it will be June for that. Right now they don't look like much, but I should do a before video to add with it to show the difference. Thanks for the reminder!
I just divided one of mine and got 21 pieces from it! Im sure this sounds super gross but i use the wetter area downstream of the septic to root cuttings 😂. Just using that extra moisture for good! Its kind of way back on the property and otherwise just grows weeds
Great video Pam ,really enjoyed it and i didn't know that you could take cuttings that way. Ill have to go and check mine out to see if there big enough because they are up also. And will also start more from seed there are so beautiful.
Coming up soon I will share how mine are doing, they have already grown and it has only been a few days! I am keeping an eye out on my others in the garden so I can take cuttings from them as well.
Thank you for the informative videos. A number of years ago I had made a new garden bed quite long and approximately 5 ft. Wide in areas. The first plants I filled that bed with was delphiniums. Within 3 years the gophers had destroyed all of them except one that I potted up. It’s May 7 so going to try and divide it as it is the deep blue variety with white eyes. And it’s been in that container for a few years are more now. I am in zone 8b PNW we have slug, squirrel rabbit issue and y dogs that love to lay in a patch of daffodils/tulips, Heather or CandyTuft…you see flat areas in the middle of those plants…flower pet beds 😂
I gave a Delphinium to a friend in a large container and she still has it in that container and it is doing fabulous. I need to keep some in pots in case the gophers start eating mine again. It seems to focus on one particular plant for awhile then choose another, then the following year it won't touch those but choose one they had never bothered before. Strange and frustrating critters.
I use the New Saturday Lime and it repels them nicely and yes I have put it out. Thank you. I need to let my chickens free range so they can eat all the eggs but we have had some roaming coyotes and foxes lately that are showing up and my chickens would make a tasty meal for them.
Pam I just watched Janies today video on Dig, Plant, Water, Repeat and I saw one of her Iris in bloom. It was a deep grape purple one....I wonder if it was one of the ones you gave her. I remember that video when you helped her plant the ones you gifted her ...lol she was like a chicken with her head cut off but, didnt mention the Iris....how could she???🤔😥
I do this in Spring as they are sending up new shoots. You can root divide the entire plant but I have been less successful with that. I think it is because we will stay cold well into May and then in June we can jump to hot and they don't like that after the disturbance of being root divided.
Good kitties. I have hoped mine would be hunters but all they want to catch is my song birds. Though the birds are smart enough to stay out of reach and I put the feeders in place the cats can't reach.
