Awesome episode, I loved how integrated and integral the pagan traditions have become in Naples. They really add to the duality that Luca was referring to. Do you think you'd dive more into the pagan traditions and the trance like states the drums were used to induce? I suppose percussion is such a big topic you could spend your life studying it, as I'm sure you will.
👏👏👏 Very Happy RU-vid Sent Your Channel To My Feed 🌟 Thank You 💞 for your well researched spectacular vlogs ! Drum Beats Reverberate Within Our Heart & Souls ! I first experienced this awesome phenomenon listening to Japanese Drums, Irish & Scottish Drums, North American POW WOW Drumming, Dancing & Singing 🎉
This looks so interesting, and so well put together. We know you had a lot of fun making this Ruairi, and we can't wait to see it! Keep up the great work and educating the children :) Bravo!
Congrats...this shows the best side of our culture. Napoli is too many times portrayed as a city full of controversies and too often people tend to forget how beautiful and mystical this place is. Thanks. Give a look to Enzo Avitabile and The Bottari's work , I love them...
Love this series Ruairi! Always happy to learn about other cultures and traditional music! Keep up with the good work! Can't wait to see what you have prepared for us next
Great film, very interesting - so glad you've done this. The music, the conversation, the locations, all so inspiring! Made me smile broadly and drum the rhythms. Well done! and thank you. ❤❤
Loved it. So much to sink your teeth into. Would have love to have heard more about the festivals and origins of the playing and dancing, finger symbols and ribbons etc Well done and thanks for wetting my appetite.
Thanks so much Ruth! 7 more episodes on the way over the coming weeks and months, where we really go deep into the stories, traditions and characters that have shaped this beautiful music. All the best to you, Ruairi 🙏🙌
Very very well done!💪 Many compliments!😉 I have seen that you have understood a little of land, tradition and way of thinking! I am very excited of this first part...let us see more!🤣 Go Ruairi!!!👏👏👏
Ruairi and everyone involved, this is fantastic, I absolutely love it! The content, filming and music, all really great, interesting and inspiring. Now, how do I too get out of my own skin and into something much more fun…?!
Only 2.7 thousand views for this?? It's unspeakably wonderful. My wife is from Castellammare di Stabia so I noticed the article in Songlines. It's both fascinating and transfixing!!!
Loved it! Hard to hear the Bodhran but when I could, the 2 of you sounded great together. So much joy and love in Italy. Thanks Ruari. I look forward to watching #2
Another National Geographic quality filming lighting-sound-capturing different aspects of the culture!! Shout out to Michelle Tofi - great team work too!! Ruairi you are such a gracious and generous performer to your accompaniments. Really enjoy seeing you performing with others - It's like a traveling chef, tasting the musical local jam & adding your magic!
I'm learning to play tammorra - it's a wonderful instrument. I learned from Alessandra Belloni and I think she would love this series. BTW do you know who the group of drummers in blue shirts is (at the 12:20 mark). They remind me a lot of Aainjaa from Colombia.
@@randomnotes thank you for watching, and the kind words! The group was just a local samba band we passed by chance whilst walking around the city. Unfortunately I have no specific information, but it sounds like a derivative of samba enredo to me. Keep drumming and all best! Ruairi
