A stunning walk through the valley of the bluebells to the summit of Rannerdale Knotts with my eldest son. Free parking opposite Crummock Water, we walked through the valley, in-between Rannerdale Knotts and Whiteless Pike on a glorious sunny day, made even more special, as the fell was covered in bluebells and yellow gorse. When the path split, we took a right turn, walking up the gently ascending ridge, all the way to the summit of Rannerdale Knotts, which gave amazing views all the way through the Buttermere Valley.

👍54 wow you really did get the weather whilst we were in the freezing fog. Hello Kev! Never done Rannerdale, it looks lovely. Hello Carol, you have great taste in RU-vidrs! Bluebells have been magnificent this year. 23C for Alan, 3C for us in Brid! 🥶 great history retelling, ha ha silly frenchies! (Grown up with a massive and possibly Illogical dislike for the place thanks to all my relatives that served in WW2). This really looks like a lovely day and it’s nice to see others out there enjoying it too. We are 5 parts filmed into a 11 part hiking series we are excited to bring out. 2 videos in the coming months and the remainder unleashed in the 2025 winter months. I’m hoping to include some drone shots for that series. Even more recognition, love this Alan, very well deserved and nice to see! Miss the Lakes so much, glad to see it via your travels. Ah lovely shots from back in the day, amazing memories and you have clearly instilled the love of outdoors for many more generations which is hugely important. Yes we want to see more Alan! ❤

The bluebells were superb but I took Mrs Metalman and my brother and sister in law back there yesterday to see them but they had all but gone, which was such a shame. We did a walk with them on Sunday and it hit 25C, so just as well we did the Derwentwater round, which had plenty of shade, especially as my brother in law has to keep out of direct sunlight due to all the meds he has to take. Oh nice one on getting a drone, I am really enjoy sending up but nervous as hell till I get it back in my hands again lol. Brilliant to get out with my son again, especially on a dry day and we had a great day out, made even better by meeting some real nice people on the route up to the summit too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

@@AlanMETALMAN gosh that’s a sudden disappearance of the bluebells! We spotted some in the oddest of places yesterday, on the side of a cliff! Amazing to get recognised doing what you love and so far from home. Testament to the quality of the videos you put out about the Lake District 👍

That's mad what is happening with the water down there and when you consider that the CEO is making every year to offer just £215 is a sick joke! I hope you are on the mend now and it is a wake up call for these awful water companies to start putting clean water in our taps and rivers before profit all the time. Take care and thanks so much for watching, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, Andrea was thrilled that you have her such a high position!! Then she said, "when did I ask that question?!!" One of our favourite places in the Lakes, maybe the world especially when the bluebells are out. Loved the story which I remember Eric Worsley telling. But then " it's the way you tell 'em"!! Great blue sky weather too, hope your back to full fitness again? We are in Berlin today, at the start of our latest adventure. All the best, Ashley
@AlanMETALMAN
@AlanMETALMAN Месяц назад
That question was one of the longest on my list to be honest, so I made sure it got answered on this video. I have watched Eric's video several time of this walk and on just about all of his others and they are always so good and professional, much better than mine. To be honest I was still shocked at how bad my lungs still are, I was blowing really hard on a relatively easy walk but I was told it would take at least 4 to 6 weeks, after I started to feel better, that I would get back to where I had been with my lung fitness. I hope you bot have a great time in Berlin! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Interesting history of the bluebells and why they are here. What a difference in the weather, it really shows off the area so well. Your drone footage was soo beautiful, so professional. Super to see you enjoying a father/son experience. Sorry but it made me laugh seeing the throw back to your Binsey walk ... That's the true Lake District weather and a real contrast to what you had on this day. Long may it last ! I love the Buttermere area and it's especially spectacular when you catch the bluebells at the right moment which you did on this day. Bit of a gruesome story as to why they thrive in that particular valley but I think that's soon forgotten once among them. You got some fabulous shots there and with your drone too. Handy to have Kev lead the way & bumping into not one but two sets of fans was fantastic. Looking forward to seeing your walk with your brother in law next week. Take care 😊

It was so nice to catch the bluebells Phil and even better to get out with my oldest son too, in (thankfully) good weather. I took Mrs Metalman back 9 days later, so she could see the bluebells as well but they had all but gone, which was a shame. Real nice of you to watch, cheers Alan

Very interesting story about the bluebells. Awesome dronage(my word for drone footage,lol). Always nice to meet someone who watches your channel,that has only happened to me on a couple of occasions. Great day out with your son! Have a great week.

Slowly catching up with videos after being away for a week. Must admit to having missed the bluebells in our Forest this year, didn't know they'd grow out of the shade. Nice Hike!.

I think we just caught them, as 9 days later I took Mrs Metalman to see them and they had all but gone, what a shame but at least me and my son have a brilliant day. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, I am back home from a long holiday weekend. So sorry I did not notice I am way behind on the vids Opening with the bitter history along the hiking trail, now we see a large sheet of the bluebell wildflowers.. otherwise, I would have never known it and I thank YOU. Indeed, the color of the film really enhances vivid and radiant! wow I am speechless...but just wow..stunning aerial view 6:34 I truly enjoy a whole hiking without gusty winds hehe See you next one.

Alan, that was a fantastic location. I'm not up on all the peaks and fells in the lake district but that one is going in the book of 'I must get my a*se there with my camera'. All the bluebells and the mountains, superb.
@AlanMETALMAN

It's a real popular one Andy, made even more so when the bluebells are out but you need to be there real early. We got there at 07.45 and it was packed then but my son can only do a Saturday, otherwise it would have been mid week but still early. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
