Yo! I made this loop route in hopes of finding the best roads Washington State has to offer. I might have found them. Massive vistas over looking valleys up to 5400ft above sea level, fast winding descents on mountain edges and just pure gravel goodness. On this ride I go up towards Blowout Mountain on forest service roads, mostly all gravel with some fast pavement sections sprinkled in. I was shooting 4K at 60fps with my main camera and body mounted GoPro. I did some long time lapses on the big climbs also. This course was long, hard and not for the weak. Hope you enjoy watching some of the highlights of this epic gravel ride! -Cyclist Pete

Awesome ride! I’m a trail runner getting into cycling and gravel riding is more appealing to me. Definitely gonna hit this up.

What’s good in PDX area for day ride?
@markgunnison
@markgunnison 3 года назад
@@paultaylorbikes Riding around Washington and Forest parks can be nice if you don't mind hills and don't mind taking your time. Downtown used to be really fun but it is not the same with all the homeless tents and closed businesses. The Portland Metropolitan area has plenty of bike lanes so getting around by bike is easy. It does not have the magic it had a few years ago though.

So sick. Saved the route for a future ride - thanks!! Are these roads open to motorized traffic?
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 2 года назад
Happy to help! Yeah, when I was there all the gates were open for motor traffic. And I saw a car close to the top on the way in. A car wouldn’t be able to get through that Naches trail, it’s super rough, but I think there are some easy roads that go around it.

Nice ride Pete! I like the music! Did you run into any cars or trucks on that trail?
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 3 года назад
No, I didn’t see any cars or trucks on that Naches Trail. A car couldn’t have made it. Big ass mudding trucks only haha And I did see a car and a truck on the loop section of the ride. But it was pretty empty most the day.

Hey sorry the delay getting back to you, I haven’t logged into my account in a while. But that would be cool to join up for something! I’m not sure if any gravel would be in the forecast for a while, but maybe a cool road ride relatively soon. I have a Facebook group for organizing group rides, does that work for you? m.facebook.com/#!/groups/612294929726440/

Awesome ride Pete! What width tires did you ride on or what would be min. recommended?
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 2 года назад
yo! sorry for the delayed response. I had the Shwalbe G-One Ultrabite 50mm on this ride. the roads are pretty rough near the top of the peaks, but 42-45mm would probably be fine too. I really like big tires, so i'd recommend 48-50mm.

are any of these roads within 50-60 miles of Spokane? :)
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 10 месяцев назад
Not these ones unfortunately. But I think Colville National Forest would have some good gravel roads, and would be really close to you in Spokane. I have another video about creating routes on Garmin Connect if you want to create your own route. Creating routes is pretty easy and really fun 🤙🏼

Do I need to be worried about bears in the cascades ?
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 Год назад
black bears wont bother you. grizzly bears aren't until you get to the north cascades and canada. if you are riding up there, its probably a good idea to be prepared.
