Great reaction! Everglow is a very underrated group and deserve more recognition. Unfortunately their company is sabotaging their career. They haven’t had a comeback in over a year now.

Discovered EVERGLOW early in own K-pop journey, they are so underrated, for whatever reason their company does not aggressively promote them, and it is a shame because these women have the talent to go so much further. There have been rumors about a breakup but that's been awhile back. Hopefully things will improve for them in time.

10:42 well, they were pretty popular right after their debut which was really well received and Yiren & Sihyeon were both known from Produce 48 (the show that created izone). Everglow's peak popularity was probably from 2020-2021 with Adios, Dun Dun and Ladida being really well received internationally. In Korea they always got ignored due to being from a Chinese company (Yuehua) and after their hiatus from November 2021-2023 many fans left and many new groups poped up so not a lot of people kept talking about Everglow. Which is why I aprecciate reactions like this even more cause they deserve way more attention than they actually get.

Say Hello to the most talented and underused group in kpop. So incredibly talented, but their company YueHua doent use them anywhere near enough. Their last comeback was December 2021 and theyve had a member on hiatus from then til November 2022 for a holiday greeting she didnt do the way koreans would expect and was criticised for it(shes chinese and did it a chinese way). Theyve had one collaboration with a western dj called the fat rat. But theyve spent the last year and a half on stage traveling around and havent had any sign of a comeback

Ah it's a little awkward, the fact of the matter is Everglow are/were incredibly popular but one of their member (Yiren, she's the one who did the killing parts pre-chorus) got stuck in china during corona and their company Yuehua was not in much of rush to get her back she only just returned last month.

As far as I know, she wasnt stuck in China for Covid, she was in Korea for most of it. She was criticised for a greeting during the holidays after Pirate came out and YueHua decided she should take a break and go home in late 2021, but she returned at the end of 2022. She's been back since November

Handong was in youth with you and yiren went back to China during the pandemic in order to complete her basic education and to spend time with her family.and ended up stuck she had gone back during the lull in restrictions before they then tightened again .While there she was on a bunch of Chinese variety shows. Her hiatus had nothing to do with the kneeling controversy. (Which was not much of a problem as I understand her family is of Confucian beliefs)

Everglow is managed by a large Chinese entertainment company, not a Korean one, and they simply don't prioritize Everglow in terms of being a kpop group AND, the Korean market and social media doesn't give them as much love as they deserve for the same reason. So Everglow doesn't get frequent comebacks, which is a terrible waste. The other issue you will see a lot in regards to Everglow is the line distribution being unbalanced. Mia gets a lot of facetime and Onda tends to get neglected, which is unfair to both of them (Mia gets a lot of hate for issues that are out of their control, and I say this as a big Onda bias) Onda gets to shine in the "First" video, which I reckon you will get to in part 2.

@@roguereacts Yeah, in terms of lines, it usually goes something like this: 1. Mia (usually around a minute of lines) 2. Sihyeon (around 30+ seconds) 3. Aisha (around 20 seconds) 4. E:U (around 10 to 20 seconds) 5. Yiren (same as E:U) 6. Onda (10-15 seconds, usually just background vocals or nananananana/noises)

I would have been a bigger fan of Everglow if they hadn't started pushing Mia to the front all of the time to the detriment of the other members. The company really turned me off with that one. Interesting side note. When Dreamcatcher was up for their first music show win with Deja Vu, it was Everglow that took home the win.

I just realised you reacted to my other ult group and I am SO excited after binging all your Dreamcatcher content. Everglow are SO good.. no skip discography, they are incredible dancers, they are absolute magic live really charismatic and gorgeous. It’s been so rough lately as we’re a small fandom and their company for whatever reason hasn’t given them a comeback in 18 months or a lightstick. Sigh. But they are just wonderful. Mia is my ult bias along with Sua (I think I have a thing for main dancers/aces 🥰).

Despite Everglow long hiatus, they remain on my top 5 female k pop group I follow, thank you for reacting to them, prrobably the reason you haven't heard of them much is because their last comeback was still 2021, Title FIRST AND PIRATE respectively, I have seen a live performance here and there this year, but the comeback I was waiting for this year, are yet still a thing for a fan like me to desire. @@roguereacts They have won at least 1 award (I can't remember if they've won more) and they've been nominated for a ton of others, they did a song for freaking UNICEF (called Promise, you can add that one as a song to your next video if you haven't already recorded it), they're wildly popular when they're active, the choreography for First was done by ATEEZ's choreographer, like....EG has been incredibly successful when they have been active. YueHa is just trash and has mismanaged them something terrible. There was some drama with Yiren (the teeny tiny brunette with purple hair in La Di Da who sings "Everglow forever let's go!") because she's Chinese and she didn't bow or something during some event where you are supposed to bow bc it means something different in Chinese culture than Korean? - she got shipped back to China for a while and the rest of them went touring around the middle east without her. Aisha (tall drink of water crawling around in the vents in La Di Da) and I think Sihyeon (brunette main singer) got Covid pretty badly and they were on hiatus for a while as well bc of that. Last I heard, Yiren was back in Korea, and there were rumors of a comeback, but so far, all has been quiet. It's really a crime, because they're all crazy talented and their songs are legit bops.

Why aren't they more popular? Because their company has failed them and doesn't promote them or have them come back as they should. They came onto the scene and they had lots of support people loved them but they have slowly faded away through no fault of the girls. People have moved onto other groups sadly. I hope they come back soon :(

I think Dreamcatcher is much harder (or easier depending how you look at it) to be obsessed with, because they put out so much content. Everglow unfortunately not so much. I you want to see them together, there is an episode of idol room with both Dreamcatcher and Everglow. I can't find the full episode anymore, but some clips still survive here. Unfortunately for Everglow, their company is of Chinese interests. That didn't help at all with Yiren's incident, as she is also chinese, and raises questions over their handling of the situation. Realy hope for a comeback the soonest possible, but it is way to long since the last one and I am really surprised that they are still around even without comebacks.
