Feel free to tell me what you think of the series idea, how you feel about this band and their albums, either mentioned or not. Also let me know what bands you think I should look at next for this series. I’m largely pulling from the 1970s, maybe the latter half of the 1960s as well, just to give you a bit of a guideline. So, yeah, let me know all of that and anything else in the comments below.

I think Nazareth, Budgie and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band influenced a lot of future acts.

Hair of the Dog is hands down the bands masterpiece and the most cohesive album in thier catalog , but all of thier releases contain a gem or two, for sure.

One reason Nazareth did well in Canada was because of the Canadian Content Law. Which required a certain percentage of content that was at least partly written, produced, presented, or otherwise contributed to by persons from Canada be broadcast on Canadian radio stations. Since Nazareth covered Joni Mitchell's This Flight Tonight, Canadian radio stations were required to play the song. This gave Nazareth radio play in Canada.

My personal fave Nazareth album is No Mean City, stunning album and love the riffage on it. Riffers like “claim to fame” and “just to get into it.” A great ballad in “star”. “Simple solution” is a piledriver as well. Love hair of the dog too

Raz ama Naz was a kick ass album. Title track was a banger. Great band to start off the new series.

LOVE Nazareth! I got into them just after hearing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, so these Scots - along with Welsh band Budgie - were part of my heavy journey beginnings as a 7 year old. Great episode, mate. You gave some info I didn't know, so I thank you for that!

Nazareth toured extensively in Canada. Their Canadian fan base was very strong and that is why their albums often went to number one in that country.

I always thought of Nazareth as a one hit wonder. I enjoyed the in-depth overview of the band. please continue, it's always nice to rediscover new music from older bands. Especially from the '70s. That was my teenage years.

Yes Hair of The Dog was the first I picked up at the record store. I recommended it to a college dorm mate who would carry on about Grand Funk, and I think I blew his mind with this album.

Yea Naz was big here in Canada when i got into rock. They peaked with Malice and then just dropped the ball. Every album had some good tracks but they definitely lacked Heavy consistency which would have served them well. A "greatest hits album only" band for the casual metal fan.

This is a great idea for a series. My knowledge of Nazareth was limited to hearing “Hair of the Dog” on the radio and “Love Hurts” via the DAZED AND CONFUSED soundtrack. I don’t know why I didn’t take a deeper dive, so I definitely appreciate the little history lesson. Ideas for future installments? Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf, Budgie are a couple that come to mind, but I have a personal one that I would like to make a case for: Blue Oyster Cult. I think a lot of people don’t really know this band outside of “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” “Godzilla,” and “Burning For You,” and probably don’t consider them to be a metal band. Those people would be wrong. Also, this group is WAY too awesome to be reduced to a joke thanks to that fucking SNL skit.

i like early nazareth, and would disagree,no mean city actually brought back interest in the band, but malice is a weird album,i saw them on the malice tour, and was a bit dissapointed,as im a big zal cleminson too,but it was a bit mellow, with only a few rockers in the set, saxon were in support and went down better with the crowd

I think I read somewhere (probably classic rock) that there was some sort of Scottish/Canadian connection which meant they toured there loads back in the day which is why they were so popular. (Could be a false memory!) Anyway when they were on they were on, some decent tracks!

I have seen Nazareth more times than I can count. The high points the low points. Up until they stopped touring the states. Not sure why? Legal? I feel there later music was the best they made. It became much more reflective on life and soulful beyond the early raw days. Butterfly is a perfect example of that. I do miss them

Never a fan of this band, including Hair of the Dog. Even BTO with Fragile and Four Wheel Drive were heavier than anything Nazareth ever did. It's not my thing, but really good episode.
