I don't get why people think he will be a manipulator tho. The only way you could try to guess what his nen affinity is, is by using Hisoka's personality test. (Without that it's just wild guesses). Manipulator isn't necessarily manipulative. Morel isn't manipulative. Sharnak can manipulate people but his personality is not manipulative. Manipulators are logical and like to take things at their own paces. It could apply to Pariston, but I feel like the most dominant parts of his personality are 1) to be able to lie, or to tell half-truth in order to manipulate people 2) To hide is true attentions and feelings 3) To predict others. He also seems to like challenges and to mess with people. Because of his dishonest personality, the way he want "to play" with people he finds interesting, this kind of thing, the most obvious answer is Transmutation. Specialist could be a good guess too, they are described as charismatic and individualistic. People focused on their goals but who naturally draw other people to them, usually they are in a leader-type position. Pariston seems really focused into his own ambition but is always in a position of power so it could be that too. Enhancer and Emitter are the most unlikely. He is far from simple and direct like Enhancers, and is clearly not impatient and hot headed. Conjurer is unlikely too, because even if he share some of their traits, he is maybe too eccentric to be a conjurer. TL;DR according to Hisoka's test he is either a Transmutter or a Specialist.

Manipulator : you can't convince me that a blond stud who wears glitterring costumes and always is smiling isn't trying to manipulate me into thinking something .

I feel like he's a transmuter and his hatsu involves changing his aura into light. He's constantly seen sparkling in the anime and it's probably just meant to represent his charisma but it could be hinting at a nen ability.

Because of his charismatic and individualistic personality, I believe he's a Specialist.

I think he might be a specialist, as Netero wanted to pick someone who he absolutely could not stand, AKA his polar opposite, and as Netero was an Enhancer, the polar opposite of him would be a Specialist. Flawed and weird logic, but that's just what i think.

I honestly think he is the type of character Togashi will give a very unique ability. Therefore I think Togashi will make him a specialist. Other than specialist I bealive manipulator is also a very safe bet.

I always thought Pariston was a transmutor since he had the natural ability to turn things into his favor. He isn't exactly a manipulator in terms of setting up pawns, since when the table flips under him, he does a 10/10 flip and does a perfect landing. Just thought that's what transmutors are known for, changing their nen into something else, or more generally, transforming a situation into their favor.

He might be a Transmuter, if you'll go by Hisoka's Nen personality test (edit) After watching the video Pariston might be a natural Transmuter, then as time passed changed to Specialization

I also believe that Pariston Hill is the most evil and twisted-psycho villain in HxH. Even more twisted and evil than Tserrediech, Gyro, Hisoka, and Illumi. Reading the "Sheila is Pariston Hill" theory just gives me the chills.

From watching this and the Ging one, I think it's tough to take the personality test super seriously at high power levels. That's just how the author writes intelligent, formidable, characters.

I think pariston is an enhacer and has a nen enhanced brain ability. something like he improve his thinking and foresight abilities and he has the limitation of his body entering a similar state as setsu whenever he thinks (which is perfect for him because that way nobody can tell he is using his ability in the most crucial times and also he doesn’t really fight himself most of the time) this would also explain why he hates gin. (Gin is as intelligent as him without the need of using this kind of abilities)

He’s the type of character to have a generally weak ability but he uses it in the best situations to make it near unstoppable. I hope he’s a conjurer. :-)

Its crazy that the rubber and gum thing is such a meme i see it on every hxh video comment section, yet this channel is so underrated.

I think he’d use both emission and manipulation, with enhancement as a back up. It would be subtle like a pheromone he emits that when inhaled by an individual keeps people either neutral to him or a slightly positive view of him, just makes him fair more agreeable. However once someone sees who he is behind his “mask” his ability loses potency. Which is why Ging is unaffected by it. He’d simply use his enhancement nen to assist his hand to hand combat. He would have mastered each of these Nen abilities as well as the other various aspects of Nen.

U can't really traditionally classify Netero as he's been around for over a hundred years so his ability, personality and potential are made incredibly broad do to becoming so powerful in all other nen category's.

I believe he's 100% a Transmuter but secondary choice = manipulator

New sub here. I'd probably switch your conclusions for Ging and Pariston. The thing that gets me the most is that the defining trait that Hisoka talked about with Specialists that I think manifests itself strongly in the series is that they naturally draw people to them to follow them. Ging clearly has a kind of charisma that he was putting off because he didn't want to encourage the Hunter crowd. But, besides maybe Mereum and the Royal Guard, Chrollo and the Troupe, and Netero with the Zodiacs (the exception, but Netero had decades to build relationships), no one has seemingly acquired more people devoted to carrying out his dream and will by meeting him. The entire Greed island crew (not just Razor!), Kite, heck everyone who talks about him before we meet him in the Chairman arc speaks about the man as this force of nature. Whereas Pariston does have some followers (as seen in his vote getting in the Chariman arc), that seems to be entirely from manipulation and leveraging his power as the Vice Chairman, rather than his personality and goals endearing others to him. Finally, and what really settles it for me, is we get to see Pariston and Ging face off when it comes to winning over a bunch of people previously already loyal to Pariston. Ging just naturally walks in and tries to inspire and encourage people positively. This kind of behavior we see from Mereum to his guards or Chrollo to the troupe, but why doesn't Pariston display this natural leader quality that other specialists we've seen do? Heck, even Kurapika during the Succession Arc, as a part time specialist, has basically done the same. Pariston would be the main specialist exception due to his lack of a devoted group of friends or followers.

I'd guessed specialist, but there is one thing to consider, especially with that affinity. Other types can become specialists later in life. Pariston may have started as a transmuter and became a specialist later on. As a Zodiac his talent would certainly make that a possibility

Think you can do a series of discovering the Nen affinities of characters outside of Hunter X Hunter? Like say Luffy, he seems like an oblivious enhancer.

Strange Theory here, what if Parriston is Hisoka. We see Morel talking to the broadcaster about revealing someones identity. At that moment Hisoka kills him, conveniently Parriston had just left the Hunter organization for the day right before that moment. I think Parriston (Hisoka) had inside information on what they were planning. I also noticed something similar in their personality, they both have a calm yet menacing presence. They both want to meet and be beside strong people and rise to the top. They also both have a strange fasination in Ging/Gon. By this I mean Parriston and Ging have always had a rivalry amongst each other so it would make sense that Parriston would want to keep and eye out on his son as we know Ging is immensly powerful and Hisoka thrives on killing powerful people. The best way to fight both would be to kill either one to enrage and get their full strength to fight. The last point I want to make is I noticed recently that Parriston’s eyes are the same as Bisky where their pupils are huge and the lower part of their eye is sagging like it lacks strength. I think Hisoka may be hiding his pressence by looking like Parriston similar to Bisky and Illumi. I know its crazy and probably isn’t true but there are too many similarities.✌🏻

Pariston is a weird case . I assumed something along the lines of Specialist and Transmuter . Mostly because of Hisokas Personality test and how HxH established Nen types in Characters . On the other hand we still have people like Netero that are born natural Enhancers but became a person with a different emotional state in his late life not really resembling his innate Category , hell his strongest ability had near to nothing to do with enhancement . Wing also stated that there are people that changed their Nen type over time to a new category . Togashi made it clear that Talent plays a big role in how much you can gain from your nen categories . strengthening them with strong personal feelings and restrictions make things like the 100 hands . All that said Pariston aswell as Ging seem to me on a lvl of talent similar to gons and killuas if not above . So we could guess all day and still be at the end of the day wrong because their hatsus dont even include there innate nen ability . I for my part kind of want to see a weird Transumtation/speciality ability from pariston simply because he fits those 2 roles so well .

Something I often think is what Nen affinity would characters in other series would have and I think that would be an interesting ideal for a future video.

I think you're right that he's either a Transmuter or Specialist. My money is on Specialist because all Specialists have been shown to be leaders of some sort with power over others (Chrollo, Pakunoda (during the hostage situation), Neon, Meruem).

He's a specialist. A very charismatic person like Chrollo and Tserried.

I just imagined Hisoka´s test being wrong and Pariston turns out to be an enhancer. That thought is terrifying.

The point about manipulator being redundant is very accurate, but beyond that, if his manipulation was of something aside from humans (animals or weapons) it still wouldn't fit because that requires a deep level of care of those items or things; Pariston only cares about enjoying himself. Additionally, Hisoka stated that enhancers mesh very well with transmuters, which would hold true to his relation to Netero.

I believe that he is a specialist that's is a mix between Manipulator and transmuter.

Pariston fits Hisoka's description of a Transmuter to a T: he's whimsical and fun-loving, incredibly fickle, and "prone to deceit and manipulation" is as big an understatement as possible. In the Hunter x Hunter GURPS campaign I'm running, I run him as a Transmuter, and it fits quite well, according to my players.

I recently came up with an idea for his ability(pure speculation) and that is that he has the ability to swap the properties of any object or person. Which fits his personality and why hes so confident nearby strong nen users.

My bet on transmutation. It would also be interesting since we haven't met many characters that fall under that nen category.

Transmutation with a mix of Manipulation is what I always thought Pariston would use in his hatsu...but it wouldn't surprise me at all if both him and Ging used abilities similar to Netero that just completely ignore their own affinities.

The gleam and shine that's sometimes drawn around him could actually be a part of his power. Best character in HxH.

I'm guessing his natural nen affinity is Transmutation since he fits the profile according to Professor Hisoka. However I can totally see him using a mix of Manipulation, Specialization and Transmutation abilities.

My prediction is either Transmuter or Manipulator, though I favor transmutation since they are said to have a certain level of whimsical charm. this would make sense for Pariston considering the following he has. It also makes sense with his relationship with Netero being Enhancers and Transmuters are said to have a bit of a magnetic personality to each other. Pariston also loves lies and manipulating the room which is why I favored transmutation or manipulation. Though I honestly feel Transmuters within Hunter x Hunter are ironically more often manipulative than the Manipulator characters.

You said that meruem was a specialist at the end there, and I know that this was before the exhibition, but I am pretty sure that meruem is an emitter.

Wasn't there a theory about sociopathy being an indicator of specialization? I think this fits pariston better than the Clown even though they're so similar because he has no intense desires, just fleet proclivities towards whomever can keep him entertained.

Ging said to all the members of Beyond expedition team, "don't try to play me, you're all specialist aren't you?". So I might say as well Pariston is a specialist and I would love him to be on the on the specialist type cause for sure he has this amazing nen ability.
