The discovery of fire is arguably one of the most significant developments in human history. But when and where did we first start to use it? Researchers are hunting for answers buried in ancient ash and baked soils. One thing's for sure: the ability to harness fire revolutionized the lives of early humans and hominids. what's funny is that i'm pretty sure a mordern man, out from any trace of civilization, wouldnt know how to create fire. Transmission is key

How can they tell if a human ancestor knew how to make fire? Just because the earliest Flint and pyrite tools date to a particular time does not mean they didn't know how to spin a stick in a notch on a log before that.

@@Freyia935 just as many teachers at school. Also I think "we don't know" is wrong because there are very few things where you can be 100% sure, we discover new stuff all the time. "As far as we know today" might be better.

I suggest we do not know the earliest dates and the best can say is we have evidence of fire making by a certain date in a certain place, but also to understand that it may been occurring earlier.

The emergence of intelligence is necessary but insufficient to create technology and civilization. Dolphins are very intelligent but have a hard time making fire.

Please can the early man be called a scientist? Am curious to know.
@primevaloldman

I think that early 'Hunters and Gatherers' did not yet have any science in the broadest sense of the word. I am sure they had massive knowledge about herbes and plants, ethologie, some medicine and partially about calendar, maybe also on few places ceramique.

@@primevaloldman I think they were Scientists / Researchers but not organized like modern science. Their findings/ inventions are definitely a result of observation and by way of trial and error methods. According to Paleo nutritionists heated or boiled food released more nutrients to them compared to raw food thus improving metabolism and increasing brain volume.

Fire was used in furnaces to treat stone 1.4 million years ago in Crete. I would call that controlled fire.
@plant-based-carnist
@plant-based-carnist Месяц назад
@tonkatoytruck The video also called it controlled fire, but they did not make the fire themselves. They "collect" fire from natural sources like fire from lightning or from volcano, then they continously maintain it, adding fuel as necessary.

This is so sad. Not all people came from the caucus mountains. Meaning not all people dwelled in caves. It’s so so sad that all you genius can’t figure that out. But I know Egypt is not Africa, and Africa not Egypt.
