I really love pairing Alphonse with Deer Bro since he really covers that turn one weakness, and once his special procs Deer can also take advantage of the added stats from Alphonse. Win-win across the board mostly.

I always knew Felix was the strongest by far, but I'm probably biased because AR forced me to go galeforce so he was exactly what I needed with a meta filled with bulky green units. Alfonse is basically supercharged Alfred all over again, when ppl are going to understand that stats aren't everything? Lol, at least his fodder will make the ppl of Askr very happy.

Real fun to hear how other people approach these new units and how to work around them. For me, I find Bernadetta to be one of the most advanced units to get working, but pulling off her skills to the full potential is the most satisfying of the CYL8 batch. I use Hortensia and Legendary Claude to spread global debuffs on the enemies I face for now. The best way to counter Hortensia's passive healing is to just give her another weapon. Sunlight+/Seaside Parasol+ is a solid choice as it even has a five range Guard debuff which means that she can potentially provide the three needed by herself with the proper positioning. Easily accessible from foddering a Yuliya who is in the regular 4* summoning pool. I will look to be using Ploy skills to help make it more consistent and provide even more damage in general to better secure the kills. The lack of NC-D and vulnerability to Hardy Bearing is at least something that can be played around.

For future counters (at least for felix), i can see having some near save armor with Shield Session 4. Grants 6 DEF/RES + X, where X is the number of times foe has initiated combat on unit (max4), If unit is attacked by the same foe during the same turn, then reduce damage from foes attacks by Y% of units DEF. Y=number of times unit was attacked 2nd time onward during the same time x3. Inflicts Gravity on foe after combat.

I had the exact same thought Oblivion brought up, that Ice tiles are a healthier version of Duo Lyon. Really hoping they don’t just put it 6 feet under like they did with Lyon though.

With the addition of slaying-2, when do you think we get 6/7 CD specials? Ex: 6cd "Unkillable" that is like full heal miracle but gives 20% dr prior to activation & 40% after (+ another 1-2 abilities cuz its IS)

It might require dedicating the team slots to mythics to boost his defense stat with copies, but in action he cannot be stopped as every point over 99 from Great Talent will work against debuffs to that stat.

@@aaronsandman749 I've run up against lethality to find it dealing 0 damage. The -10 true damage to special skills on top of his base defense being 99 is hilarious. This might be a case of Lethality not being able to negate the damage reductions from B!Alfonse's specific skills. I'm not sure how one could play around it yet. He starts maps with 86 true defense already so no phys unit in the game can really touch him. With damage debuffs based on his defense stat plus hp in the 70's even units like Miciah and Lysithea (at least from what I've come across in AR from people ranked 17k and above on lift) can no longer manage him on +2 GT. Not without dancers anyway. Like, yes you can technically try Robin but if any ally breaks the ice for him, she's just dropped even without the proc since his damage output increases based on his defense stat too. I do wonder how he'll be once he becomes a +def +res dual boon. Rn he's just vanilla out the box Alfonse that got merged with his spark brother and bad IV pull.

@@aaronsandman749 I was fortunate to encounter an attack boon Claude in Arena today to test against. While by the time he got to Alfonse his defense stat had already gotten past 80 due to GT and had stone vein active, it was definitely useful. B!Alfonse skills appear to ignore Lethality, since Claude still dealt 0 damage with the skill trigger. What I specifically mean is that, Lethality does not negate the damage reduction from stone vein as it doesn't interact with terrain. This means the -10 damage from special is always active against it. The +6 to def/res are also floating buffs rather than true stats, meaning the defense boosts not just from his weapon when allies are near but also when in combat under terrain are also not interacting with Lethality's defense reduction, in turn stacking defenses right back up and over what was initially removed in activation. Combine this with true damage reduction based around his true defense stat, that carries over into reducing special damage if it reduces more than the attack could do from an originally already 0 damage attack, and Alfonse literally just out tanks Lethality by just being that absurdly bulky even without blessing bonuses. 43 (63 base attack, -20 [5 from Reopening, + (8) from reduction based on 10% of unit defense + (7) from ally skills] from true damage reduction) after true stat debuff Claude with Lethality getting -10 from terrain, vs 75% reduced 82 def Alfonse with +12 def applied over his Lethality reduced defense stat gives Alfonse 20.5 (21) defense + 12 (two stacks of + 6 def/res when foe initiates combat) for 33 defense vs 33 atk Lethality. I was just lucky enough to get to ironically the defense stat and support needed to be 0 lol. That all being said, even if allies were not involved Lethality could not hurt Alfonse enough to take him from full hp in arena. In AR he would have even more defense at the start, and 25 more hp to have to peel through on top of that. It isn't a solution or a way to play around him at all even at +0 GT boosts lmao. Thank you for bringing up Lethality. I would have speed melted Claude without your mention warranting testing it.

Felix is disgusting in ARD, and has mucked me up in arena a few times. With the celica ring, he's basically got a range of 8 (e.g. the entire map). The only thing I don't like about him is the built-in distant counter (if I wanted to run him as a tank, I'd just slap distant bonus doubler on him) and that phantom speed in his B slot (which I guess is useful for DR skill comparisons...?). Imagine how gross he would have been if they gave him extra true dmg or speed or DR piercing

The DC is underrated imo. The DC helps ensure a surrender as he's surprisingly bulky when he gets into range of your team (non tanks). He's not a free kill once he's in range. But other than that, agreed, he's absolutely disgusting with the Celica ring. Being able to just warp behind enemy lines and wreak havoc makes AR nightmarish. He's also is one of the few units to make great use of that Closed Off Castle map due to the blocks being destructible.
