I did London to Spain then across the north coast (rainy) to gijon then back again. Went on a 1959 lambretta and my Mrs was on a 1976 vespa. We used an Adidas bag with our cloths in strapped to the rear seat and extra fuel sitting on the foot boards. 3000 miles in 2 weeks. Got a bit chilly in the mountains so we put more shirts on. Went to decathlon when we got to Spain and bought a tent. Gave it away when we left to some local kids. I could not handle carrying all that around. Food...we bought some. It can be done with no effort at all. But fair enough buying gadgets can get addictive.

Used a clothes packing system previously that worked well, basically had 3 pods, each containing a T-shirt, boxers and socks. You fold the T-shirt in half shoulder to shoulder, placed a pair of boxers at the bottom, and each sock with the hole pointing outwards either side, roll them all up together as tight as possible, then folded the socks back onto everything to make a clothes tube, keeping it all really compact. 3 pods, so one to wear, one as a spare and one that was dirty to wash that evening and hang up to dry. Have a great trip! Cheers for the video, always great to see others setups

Adam - really great to see what you are bringing on this trip. I have the same bike with full RR treatment and have just added the Mosko Moto Reckless 40 this week, so this video is really helpful in assessing if that system packs as well as this Giant Loop setup. I'll report back once I have had time to test it out. Also, thanks for sharing your tool setup. that was reallyhelpful.

Excellent list Adam! - I see your were channelling your inner Austin Vince with the disposable poncho (great idea!), and thought the short piece of hack-saw blade was a very nice addition (might do that myself in future)... Regarding tools, I also like to carry a small needle file and/or perhaps consider swapping the individual pliers/cutters/knife for a Leatherman or similar multi-tool, to save space for the odd time you might actually need all those items? note. You can usually find liquid Locktite in small tubes, similar to the superglue. As for camping, I've found that an inflatable pillow is far nicer than using your jacket/clothes bag or similar - they pack up small enough to fit in your fist, and really give you a more comfortable night's sleep with no neck ache. Have a great trip!

Caution if you visit Rally Raid …. It could mean you change your bike for a 310GS and add the Giant Loop panniers all in the space of a week :) Thanks for all your help Adam, have a great trip, I’ll bring the new 310 over for some further upgrades when you get back 🎶

Thanks, it looks like you got most of the important stuff with you. The only two things I would add are a spare key for the bike and a proper first aid kit clearly marked as first aid. I might not be the one looking for it in case of an accident, so good if anyone can find it. Thanks for sharing!

On the Loctite issue, if you wind the stick out and cut it you can stuff it into the lid. Clingfilm it and wrap in insulation tape. Roll bolts into cap when needed. Should give enough for a trip without taking the whole stick with you. Great vid and hope you had a good trip!!

I’d swap the pliers and the cutters for a Leatherman. Liquid Loctite comes in tiny (5ml I think) bottles. T shirts, pants and socks should all be polyester or polyprop so they dry quickly. I also take a length of nylon shock cord and a few pegs. Shock cord can be used to lash things on or repair luggage or replace shoe laces and form a temp washing line so you can wash and dry a few things overnight.

I'm amazed the BMW 310 GS needs a full set of every size of Allen wrench from what looks like 1.5 or 2mm all the way up to 10mm? My 17 year old bike has 4, 5 and 6mm Allen cap head bolts with two bolts only, the kick stand and rear brake lever pivot, being 8mm. If I am doing a weekender I don't take the 8mm.... Guess with modern bikes you need to take more tools then...

I would add some plastic metal incase of case damage, first aid kit and a spare quicklink for the chain, 👍

@jmo2752 2 года назад
Yes, Quick-Steel (or similar metal-putty is excellent stuff to have with you! I know what you mean about a chain-link (in the past I've carried two, plus a short length of chain - 2-4 links), however I would say that if you've got a good quality 520 chain fitted to a bike like this, the chances of it actually breaking is almost zero.

T.E.T. Those full stops indicate abbreviations. They are not there to separate the letters. I don't know when this started to be a thing and now everyone in England is doing it.

No stove? How are you boiling the water for your freeze dried meals? The hacksaw blade is a good idea!

I cut wood with my knife and make a fire if needed . But generally I focus on goods that don’t need heating like nuts,dried meat and carbs when riding
@StokeBeaver
@StokeBeaver Год назад
@@motomitchuk4384 makes sense depending on the fire risk. I tend to eat out at lunch and then buy ingredients locally late afternoon to cook while camping in the evening. Only additional items I take are stove, comprehensive 1st aid kit, inreach, bike cover and a length of thin rope for solo recovery.
