In this extremely sad wild animal clip, some of the chimps have started to be ravaged by mange. Nature can mean trouble for monkeys, apes, gorillas and other primates in the jungle. From the BBC.

Nothing like a little bathing couldn't fix.... mange sucks in animals if it gets out of hand.

Fefe is the same chimp who along with Fanny tried to kill Gremlins twin babies. So don't feel too bad for her, Karma's a bitch!

It would have to be administered daily. Usually weekly. You can't do that with a wild chimp.

i cannot imagine them not intervening if the problem rose to the point where it was destructive to a large number of chimps. at this time, id think, there's value in being able to observe chimp behavior in dealing with such difficulties. the narrator seemed unfamiliar with their behavior and so i assume that something new is being learned here. and because we've evolved from them, we learn something about ourselves.

This lady seem happy when talking about suffering and death. She smiles and seems to enjoy the camera a lot. She discusses but seems to miss all the grief and feeling.

You can put a chimpanzee in an enclosure with perimeters made out of concrete and aluminum chain-link fence.

Then they could all wake up and get better and have more support in improving things for living things. Reduce pain at the least.

:(... Thank you for sharing.. Regarding helping him/her. Im not sure they can? To my understanding it is not a researchers place to interfere in nature. Simply observe. Could make things much worse in the long run. Should you get a chimp who is immune to the effects of the disease, but can spread it, it could wipe out many chimps.

indeed.

You might put coils of razor wire along the top of every wall or divider of the enclosure.

You can take them out of the forest and put them in an enclosure that makes them feel right at home. And have a better than average life for a living being of your exact type.

Regarding Fred the infant who died. These chimps are expected to lose children. They breed all the time. It's no loss that they feel. See if Fred was a pet he would be alive today. I support chimp ownership.
